Okay so it turns out that last episode did have some importance as Dominque and Jurgens (the fact I called him Woreshaw for some reason when I saw the last ep) reveals he either hasn't been around for awhile or wasn't important enough to have a real name) make a face turn and join the good side. For Jurgen this means discovering the truth and getting a faction to turn against the military as Dominque (in a move I've been predicting for at least the last 20 eps) finally joins Gekko state in order to save Anenome, whose still being screwed over by Dewey probably and still seems quite psycho. Eh Dominque may be kind of a whiner but he's not exactly like Renton but there is a resembelence for those who care. Meanwhile in the Renton and Eureka plot the two hopefully have they're last little fight and make up as Eureka's semi transformation makes Renton reinstate his protection vow and try to understand her anyway he can. This is made different by the kids (well mainly Maurice) threathening Renton to move away from Eureka as he wants to be the only one she loves. Who selfishness in the face of love ones: it's the sort of angle that's been there but that hasn't been specifically resolved yet and adds growth to Maurcie's character which is good. Not good is Renton fainting. Wonder exactly why though being trapped on a pretty much dead earth is a good reason for anyone to faint.
Renton didn't exactly "faint". He collapsed because of that "stunt" he pulled earlier in the episode.

Yeah, he basically passed out due to his own self-inflicted wound, but he did it in an attempt to show Eureka how much he loves her, etc. Good GOOD episode. I loved how much they put into it. The ball is rolling now.

Yeah, its started rolling and it won't stop till the end. :)
The 'stunt' he pulled is what I was vaguely referring to last thread. Not exactly the smartest of plans, but it works out well enough, and was much better then the general grouchy-ness that we had to endure for a couple episodes.
Edit: Something that struck me about the Maurice scene, is the hint we had always had in the flashback. I hadn't really noticed it before seeing this ep, but Maurice had his eyes open while the other two were just crying, so it makes sense that he knew what had actually happened. Just an interesting tie-in.

It's episodes like these that help remind me that Eureka x Renton romance trunks everything else this series has to offer. Very touching and very cathartic.

I really wish they'd just focus on Earth, I don't really care about Anemone or Dominick or the Gekko right now.
BTW, it's DOMINICK, NOT DOMINIQUE. He's a guy, not an S&M stripper.

Eureka and Renton are the main characters so the series focuses on them the most, but secondary characters, such as Dominick and Anemone, Eureka's kids and the Gekko State make the series more interesting. :)

Dominique's a common gender-neutral French name. :P
Renton self-injury struck me as so damn *stupid.* Not even noble stupid. Just *stupid* stupid. He does this kind of thing way too often.

I posted a question in the previous thread about if anyone was more interested in following Dominic (BTW, that's the proper spelling of his name according to Wikipedia) and Anemone than Renton, Eureka, and the kids. I think it is mostly due to the Earth sub-plot being so slow in development while the chaos in E7's present was interesting and moving a lot faster.
As for this ep, this is the first time I actually cared about the Earth sub-plot in a while. It actually moved the plot along and hopefully ended any remaining tension between the kids (specifically Maurice) and Renton. Seriously, didn't we already solve this earlier?
As for Dom, Jurgens, and some of the soldiers joining Gekkostate, awesomes.

Wait, so we go from a TV-MA-V episode to a TV-PG episode? O_o

Another good episode. Wow, Dominic joined the Gekko State? NO WAI!!!!
Wait, no. I saw that coming 20 episodes ago, actually.
Still, a great episode. As we get closer to the end, we get more and more development going on.

I've just realized...not only does that one long-nosed guy look like Cyborg 002, but Dominic looks like 009

Renton has taken up self-mutilation
To make himself equal to she
Whose arm's undergone a bizarre transformation
It kinda works, to some degree
But one of the children is holding a gun
'Cause that thing she had done was still stuck in his head
And to love him instead would restructure his peace
So that's what was up with Maurice.
Now Jurgens and Dominic meet up with Hollan'
To come to the base of the plot
Of the scub demolition and how it has fallen
And whether it's factual or not.
A cease fire is in effect; both sides agree
That they want to be free from this doomsday device
Where a roll of the dice brings untimely demise
And to save she for whom Dom has eyes.

Children with guns =no. Let this be a lesson parents. Winy children and shotguns don't mix.
Renton's self mutilation was shocking, though I knew it was comming. Sadly CT. decided to have a friggin test during the ep so half of it got cut out with a very loud 'WARNING: THIS IS ONLY A TEST IF THIS WAS A REAL EMERGANCY....'
Im glad the military is finally changeing sides. No one wants to be bossed around by a pedo who hangs with little kids

DRAMA
Even though the ending had me rolling my eyes, I really liked this episode. All the building up in the last few episodes help made this a nicely, put-together "release" episode. The moment Renton and Eureka had together before the commercial break was quite touching, and Jurgens also had a fine moment towards the end as well. There were other nice moments, but these mostly stood out for me.

Very emotional this ep was I thought. I actually thought at one point the kid was going to shoot renton. But from the looks of things it seems renton smacking his arm to make Eureka feel better wasn't the smartest thing to do.
Next week will also be another good one.

I've tried and tried, but I still can't stand the OP.
(I like the animation, though)
And I think Anemone has officially lost it. Poor thing...things aren't looking so good for her right now. :(
You know, the whole "Team Renton on Earth" plot was actually pretty good in this episode, as we get real character development and R&E get even closer together.
Then the Izumo crew had to butt in and just totally overshadow Team Renton with their awesomeness...

Yep, "Jelly Roll Sack" has nudity and an operatic first half, all of which was cut out. And the ending removed the final image of Eureka holding a blood soaked Linck in her arms.

Renten's nuts
What about them?
Children with guns =no. Let this be a lesson parents. Winy children and shotguns don't mix.
It was a rifle. ;¬)
This episode was badly paced. They left the Jurgens/Dominic plot for too long, and when they left the Earth plot again, that one was resolved, and it felt like the end of the episode, the Jurgens/Dominic plot all but forgotten.
Nevertheless, I liked where both plots went, and in spite of the pacing I enjoyed the episode. The Jurgens speech was what such speeches tend to be: not all that they need to be. It had to be too many and too much; powerful, inspiring, extemporaneous, and that's hard enough to pull off in speeches delivered in real life. Still, they didn't utterly choke on it.
This continues to be the show that keeps me coming back to AS on Saturdays. I don't know what I'll do when it ends... I'll have to find something. (Well, there's always Bleach, I guess)

I'm suprised no one talked about my favorite part of the episode. The way anomone was laughing while crying to hide her feeling about Dominic from dewy's brat squad was a kodaic moment.
I was also peased that renton mentioned Charles after all this time. It's nice that renton still shows how he was deeply effected by getting to know the beams couple.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that in this episode they revealed that Eureka did in fact kill the kids' real mothers. Back when we originally saw that scene, I commented how I didn't think kids would be so affectionate toward their parents' killer. But, many on this board assumed that the kids were already orphans and their real parents weren't in the pile of bodies, giving the explanation that if their parents were in the pile of bodies, they would be holding onto their parents' bodies, not each other.

Did anyone else feel a little nostalgia for Final Fantasy 7 when the music was playing during Rentons and Eureka's moments?? And don't ask which one, cause it seemed that each time they were having an on-screen moment, I was expecting Tifa or Aries (Areith for nit pickers) to come out and tell them it would be alright and that Cloud would save the day. Seriously, good eppy, but just had to ask.

I love this show, but I think it was absolutely stupid for Renton to go and purposely **** up his arm like that. Then the little kid went and tried it, too.

Well, if at long last we learn the name of a guy that's been around for quite awhile, that means he's gonna die soon. Nice to actually have a name to call you other than 'that military captain guy,' Captain Jurgens. Should I put in a call to the funeral home now?
So after the events of last week's episode, Dominic and Jurgens have seen the light. Or at least seen how insane Dewey is, and have decided they no longer want any part of it. Good for them. Oh, and only now is the cast drawing parallels between Dominic/Anemone and Renton/Eureka?
Speaking of 'the family,' Renton takes the point of 'your problem is our problem' a little too far by giving himself a self-inflicted wound to match Eureka's glowing skin orbs. I'm glad Eureka forcefully accepts she's not human. Now can we get Renton to forcefully accept that he's not a Corollian?
Oh, and nice revelation about Maurice and the others coming to grips of what Eureka actually did all those years back when she 'adopted' them.
And about that call to the funeral home... maybe I should put one in for Renton, too. That fainting spell doesn't look good...
Moral of the story? There are ways to show support for your loved ones that don't include injuring yourself intentionally. Don't be an idiot.
"Don't You Want Me?": 3.5/5.

His name was actually revealed way, way back near the beginning of the series, though you may have glossed over it without realizing it.

Is there something wrong with Renton?
Can't he see that he is hurting Eureka and himself even more?
I know he loves her a whole lot, but sometimes the way he acts that it's painful to watch. He gives Eureka's kids bad ideas.
Eureka's kids are growing up, mostly Maurice though.
At least one of them remembers what hapenned.. to their parents.
The music is nice throughout the sad moments.
Is Dominic looking to get help from the Gekko?
Everyone fighting together against Dewey will bring some resluts.
I just hope that the ending of this series is not as sad as FMA. :crying:
I feel that something bad will happen to Holand, Dewey and Anemone before we are through watching this, but it's just a speculation.
Let's hope Renton gets back on his feet in the next ep...
