These last few days, my throat has been feeling a little...scratchy. What's more, my voice is getting hoarse, and a slight headache is starting to develop.
Could this be tonsilitis or am I just imagining things?

Could be or could be strape throat. I had many cases of a sore that led to my tonsils being removed. So if it lingers you should go see a doctor.

I'm with RedNinja84 on this one.. Get an appointment to see your doctor and ask about both Tonsilitis and Strep (after all both can be checked out by a certified Physician (and it doesn't take long..
Also don't feel you're all alone on this one. I too am suffering from a scratchy throat, but I've been having bouts of lightheadedness and body aches. so I think for myself I might be either dehydrated a little or maybe it's something else. (but it seems with my case, the Chloroseptic is helping a bit.

I had tonsillitis before, in fact I had my tonsils removed. Not a pleasant surgical experience.

Yeah it really sucks you can barely swallow anything without causing yourself immense pain and suffering but from what you're describing it just could be your ordinary flu.

Your tonsils could be reacting to an infection, or it could be a little laryngitis mixed with another problem that's causing the headache. Tonsillitis is far more pronounced even in a weak form - I should know, had it enough times and never had the beasts out.
Could also be raging monkey fever. How could I diagnose such a made up illness? Because I'm not a doctor and if you have concerns about health, listening to random people's advice - including what to do with severe raging monkey fever (get rid of the monkey) - rather than a trained professional is rather silly. If it's bad, go get it looked at man. Go on, hop it!

Ooo, Green Monkey Fever? One of the fatal hemorrhagic diseases. Fever and gastrointestinal symptoms are followed by capillary hemorrhage (bleeding out) heard of that on one of those documentaries of untreatable level 4 viruses.
[amateur medical opinion]If the scratchy throat is down in the vocal cords or up behind the soft palate, it's probably just a cold. Tonsillitis and strep are infections and will usually cause a fever, and your tonsils at the back of your mouth will swell. I wouldn't worry till a fever starts, but call your doctor if you want to be sure.[/amateur medical opinion]

Personally, if it wasn't for the headache, I would just say you have a flu or just laryngitis. It could possibly be tonsillitis (of course I shouldn't say, since I've never had it). Or it could just be an unrelated problem that's causing the headache.
EDIT: I'm kind of leaning towards a flu, but if your worried, you could always have a doctor check it out.
