Forget The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, Scooby-Doo, Top Cat, and any of their derivatives. Also, forget about Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Quick Draw McGraw for a moment.

I'm a fan of Hanna-Barbera, but sometimes, you get tired of seeing the same old characters over and over in projects. Yeah, we know what they're famous for, but the studio is more than those popular properties

That said, here's a scenario:

You are in a position to produce a series of new Hanna-Barbera shorts, but you could only make one that didn't involve any of the above properties. Who would you choose and why? And keep in mind this could be either a comedy or an action short property.

Since "their derivatives" presumably excludes any of the "teen solving mysteries" shows of the 70s (so much for Jabberjaw, hmph), I'd choose one of the following:

- Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks
- Atom Ant
- Secret Squirrel
- Wacky Races

Hmmm, we've already seen a new Secret Squirrel, I really think the Jinks cartoons are a little too much like Tom and Jerry.

I'd have to go with Atom Ant.

I would love to see serious remakes of the classic Hanna-Barbera superheroes. Space Ghost, Shazzan, Birdman, and Mightor are my favorites so I would really like to see serious animated shows in the likes of "Justice League."

Other than that, probably Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy.

How about Undercover Elephant?

I'm surprised the Hanna-Barbera heroes (Birdman, Space Ghost, Young Samson, etc.) never formed a Justice League/Avengers type of group of their own.

I'd love to see something like that someday.

Well...we can all drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrream, can't we?

None, I enjoy Hanna Barbera for the original, great shows that they created and the true feel of knowing that the show is a classic. I was dissapointed when they re-made Secret Squirrel because it was so different than the original, just like I was when they started to re-create Scooby. When they make new versions I miss the bad graphics and horrible puns from the originals. I hope they don't remake any old cartoons.

Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks, they are great characters, plus unlike the more popular characters, I think you would have more freedom to do what you want in the eyes of HB & the fans.

Whoo. Hard to say. HB made so many shows out of so many animals it's hard to decide which, really! But yeah, best go for the lesser known characters and give them some future stardome, that's what I say. So for me...

- Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch! : I found an old VHS tape of this show some time ago. When I watched it before at a young age, the jokes used to go right over my head, but after rewatching them I found myself laughing out loud. The characters are hilarious - Bubi Bear espicially - and the storylines were rather good. I'd like to see them ride the Invisible Motocycle once again :anime:

- Yogi's Space Race: OK, we had and loved Wacky Races, but I still remember this show from way back. It was set in space and some of the races held were strange but still good. What made this intresting was that they had some character bios during the show (An intresting one I think on how Phantom Phink first got his dog Sinister Sludge) and at the end of every race the winners would get a prize...then find out that they don't like it!

- Wally Gator: I always thought Wally rather humerous, partly because of his voice and how he deals with the zookeeper Mr. Twiddle.

- Top Cat: Yeah, one of my fave HB Shows! Top Cat is rather popular here in the UK as it's repeated quite a lot on the BBC. This show was cleverly written and all the guys who did their voices sounded great and hilarious. Although the setting will be changed to suit today's New York, it'll still be the same ol' T.C we know and love.

I wouldn't bring back any, because they'd probably just be in sub-par shorts directed by John Kricfalusi, ala Boo Boo Runs Wild.

I think they should bring them all back into one show, maybe like they did with Yogi's Treasure Hunt. Or they could show three 7 minute cartoons, like the old Huckleberry Hound show, exept with more characters... A bit like Looney Tunes really.

I still think Tom and Jerry deserve a shot by someone who understands them!

I started this thread, might as well share my choices. Here are the following HB non-major-superstar characters I'd bring back:

Auggie Doggie and Doggie Daddy: Auggie's essentially the prototypical boy genius in animation. Before Elroy, Dexter, and Jimmy Neutron, Auggie was contacting alien worlds, building robots, and inventing new devices. And Doggie Daddy is probably the most supportive dad I've seen in animation.

Space Ghost: I'd like to see someone treat the character with respect. Eliminating the comedic side of the character, this sentinel of space could be seen as the ultimate protector of the cosmos in a series that could become a true science-fiction classic.

Krazy Klaws: Yeah, he's Groucho Marx as a wildcat, but Bugs Bunny was Groucho in a bunny suit, what's your point? :D All kidding aside, of all the elements from the Kwicky Koala Show (Kwicky, The Bungle Bros., Krazy Klaws, and Dirty Dawg), ol' Krazy is the one I liked the best, and he's actually a fun character to use, especially if you have comedic chops to make him and his supporting cast funny.

The Herculoids: A human family. Alien beings at their command to protect them from outside and internal threats. What more could you want? Oh, and get Sean Calloway on that one. His designs for the characters are just excellent.

Super Snooper and Blabber Mouse: My second favorite Hanna-Barbera short series (just behind Huckleberry Hound, clearly the most versatile character ever created), there's no case they won't solve and no stone left unturned. A great duo if ever there was one.

The Galaxy Trio: Again, Hanna-Barbera has some great action franchises, but they've been diminished into comic relief, and the Trio is probably the best team the studio made. Inspired creatively by the Fantastic Four, Vapor Man, Galaxy Girl, and Meteor Man could take on any cosmic creature or entity that threatens the universe.

I want some love for Touche Turtle. I haven't heard "touche away!" in too long.

Long live Pixie and Dixie!

Yes, their cartoons were inspired by Tom and Jerry, but were overall much more enjoyable (in my opinion). Plus, Mr. Jinks is freaking awesome.

What this guy said. :D I loved the action cartoons of HB, and seeing someone bringing them back and doing them justice would make me very happy.
