This is the talkback thread for "Powerpuff Girls Z" on Cartoon Network Japan in April (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=14572).
Like this is really big news, the show is ALREADY airing in Japan! I'd rather the series finally be dubbed in English and ran on Toonami on Cartoon Network here in the good 'ol US of A :D!

I guess it's isn't airing on their Toonami.

Sorry, but I never want Powerpuff Girls in any shape, form, or fashion to be on CN, but it'd be fine on Friday's.

Huh?
Huuh?
Huuuh?
That statement makes no sense. Friday's is a part of CN, isn't it?

No, it's definitely:
Huh?
Huuh?
Huuuh?
It's written as 'Ha' in katakana because that's how you write the English word 'huh' in Japanese.
But in the anime you can clearly hear they're saying 'huh?'. And 'Ha' doesn't even make sense.

Who cares whether it's on Fridays, Miguzi, Toonami, or even Adult Swim, we will soon be getting the chance to see how PPGZ would look in anime form. And I'm getting a little excited about it, if none of you guys aren't.

FWIW, I'm excited about it. A retooled series can work, as the new Jake Long proved. I can't wait for this.

IIRC, it isn't licensed yet.

Correct. It's almost reached 100 episodes, though, so I'd immagine it's only a matter of time before someone licenses it.

I know Jake Long isn't on topic but the new ones make me want to gag myself with a tennis ball and hop into a lake of pharana (spell check:sweat: )
Also is there any pictures of their new look? Even a tiny sneak peak?

There's the splash on the front page, the Japanese website (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/ppgz/), as well as the PPGZ thread in the Anime Forum. And that's not even counting the thousands of screens you'd probably find if you went on Google.

Exactly the words out of my mouth. Especially since Football is big in USA, and doesn't the Japan NFL fund the show? Also the manga volumes have been chugging along, with 12/13 being released last month, which is about the 6th volume released in 6 months.
PPGZ probally will air on Miguzi Saturday Morning when they finallly acknowledge satam is Miguzi by maybe Fall 07-Fall 08, but my guess is 1st Quarter 08(With an airing on Fridays for encores)

Wow. Now I'm even more intrigued. :)

To be honest, it's not a good show. The designs of the girls (who are now teenagers) are nice to look at, though.

I just noticed that PPGZ will be airing on Cartoon Network Japan!
Which means it'll probably take its sweet time coming to CNUS.
I still want to see it. It may make me start watching Cartoon Network again....
To be honest, it's not a good show.
That depends on your expectations. If you go in thinking it will be the exact same as McCracken's version, then you will be disappointed.
However, if you go in thinking that it will be a magical girl show that doesn't really take itself seriously at all, then you'll come away pleased.

I hope they don't go all Capt. Planet :p I do see alot of images of Bubbles in disco tights. :anime:

I knew it wouldn't resemble the original in any way... but that didn't help.

Well, they each have their own musical style as a theme (it's been a while, but I believe Blossom is standard JPop, Bubbles is bubblegum-pop, and Buttercup is rock) and the henshin sequences have the girls dancing through their transformations.
There are other bits of not-so-serious aspects, such as both Bubbles and Mojo being shocked that monkeys can't talk, Buttercup angry that it's taking so long for the writers to get to her origin story, and DYNAMO being a parody of the Getter Robo.

The appearance of the "it's good if you lower your standards" argument is never a good thing. ;)

I wouldn't say "lower your standards" since PPGZ was never aiming to be a continuation of the original PPG, it was to be fun shoujo fluff almost from the get-go. Although if simply enjoying a show is lowering standards, then I guess you could call it that.

Hey, I say the same thing sometimes. But it's just not going to do much to convince people who already don't like the show.

PPGZ has a manga series? Since when, link please?!!
Also I think that (whatever day of the week this falls on next year) the series should premiere in America on November. 18, 2008. That's when the original show first premiered, and it's also the same date that the original series' 10-year anniversary will fall under!

God help us all!
I've seen the show in Japanese on YouTube, I swear it is one of the WORST things I have seen in my life.
The animation is stiff, the plots are dumbed down and are not funny, the action sucks, it's not worth watching at all. It feels more like a little kid's show then the Craig McCracken series. The original PPG had humor and wit that both adults and kids could laugh at, this... had nothing.

Yea, but its one of those manga that's come about after the anime, and those type of manga often have a spotty track record.

It's a mahou shoujo series. What did you expect?

^^I wasn't expecting much but I didn't expect it to be THAT bad. I was AT LEAST expecting some PPG style humor but the humor was just... bland.

It began airing on CN Japan April 1st with episodes 1 & 2. Two episodes air each Sunday at Noon and 12:30pm (Japan time). And it's being dubbed into English by The Ocean Group (Hamtaro, Inuyasha) for broadcast on CN US (hopefully) later this year.
CN Japan also airs the classic PPG twice a day. In Japanese and English.

Basically, as the person said, they started broadcasting PPGZ in japan a couple weeks ago. Two episodes every saturday is rather nice, I think. Well, if you like it that is.
Anywho, I got a clip from a promotion that came on before the show aired.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2Zy1Z0wFz0
Basically, this was a promition for PPGZ before it would air in Japan. The first promo introduces the girls and the monster Mojo, as well as what they fight against. The second clip here shows a quiz that you can earn stuff if you answer the questions correctly, though I'm not 100% how it works. I think the first 3 to answer correctly get it.

Chemical X is modified in episode one so they call it Chemical Z. I believe that's what the name is derived from technically.
