Can you say Muppet Babies?
By Steven Dolan
The upcoming year is gonna be bizzare for the toon world as we know it.Action fans will love thier old friends He-Man,Spiderman and those painters who like pizza but We'll also see Bugs,Felix,Mickey and Popeye in ways you've never seen them before. They'll all be back.....................as babies! Something the muppets started years ago.Felix will star in "The Baby Felix and Friends Show" while Mickey and friends are slated to star in "Disney Babies:The animated series" and Popeye will star in "Before he was a sailor man" which is so far just a special but may get spun into a series. In "Before he was a sailor man" there will be no fighting. It will tell the story of how Popye ate his first bowl of spinish and Brutus only has a cameo. There will also be "Baby Looney Tunes" and there was even talk of a baby Batman !(We ain't joking).Right now we think animators should think of something original.Geriatric Tom and Jerry prehaps?

In the words of Sam Beckett, Oh Boy. We struggled for the better part of the last decade to get out of the Dark Ages of Animation when it was only viewed as someting for the kids on Saturday Mournings, and now this. Remember Yo Yogi ? The Bedrock Flintstone Kids? How about A Pup named Scooby Doo ? Taking our most beloved Animated Characters and transforming them into kids is a sign of creative bankruptcy, usually. With Tiny Toons though you had the feeling that their was an intense amount of brilliance behind the scenes that never saw the light of day. After all wasn't Bruce Timm involved ? We may not be so lucky this time. How about a baby Fritz the Cat while their at it, I'd like to see had they'd try to sell that to kids.

Oh, okay. Not that I didn't trust you, I just wanted to see how reliable this source is, which, now I know, must be pretty reliable if it's in a newspaper. Thanks anyways!

This it sad...uber sad. This is just...bottom-of-the-barrel stuff, man. I swear, if even ONE of these shows gets to be a sucess, it'll be a dang miracle.
And you better be kiddin' 'bout the Batman Baby thing.

Here's a similar article from today's paper (The above was from Friday):
Williams Street is having a baby
By Steven Dolan
Williams Street has announced plans to do Space Ghost Babies as a spoof of the current toon craze. My guess is that it will air on Adult Swin,Cartoon Network's night of "Adult" programming. The show will star Space Ghost,Zorak,Brak,Moltar,Lokar and the council of doom as babies.

Okay, now I'm starting to think that this thing is inaccurate. Are you pulling are leg? Not that I want to accuse you of that, but several baby announcements, two days in a row, by the same author? Coincidence?

This Dolan guy sounds like someone who's been reading our forums. LOL. If this is true, I'm going to be sick. I mean, seriously, parody or not, it's a stupid idea. I doubt Williams Street would do that. I mean, "Space Ghost Babies" and "Home Movies" on the same block? I thought Williams Street was going to move forward with more quality programming.

Who know's?
It might just be an episode of SG.Yeah I'm going to be sick too.I know ALOT of people who read these boards!
I wonder if tomorrow this Dolan fellow will write about Betty Boop, Woody Woodpecker and Fox and Crow babies. Then I'd be a little suspicious of his valididity (sp?).
But at the moment, if this person is correct about all these "baby" cartoons coming out, I'm kinda scared. Creepy, creepy, creepy...

"My guess is"? This doesn't sound like a genuine newspaper article. Even a "parody" newspaper article.

Yeah, since when did newspapers acknowledge the existence of Williams Street? Or have even remotely paid attention to Cartoon Network?

Ding! Ding! Back to your corners, kids. Everybody's gettin' all ticked off again, and it's causing a loss of focus here.
Whether there is any validity to these newspaper articles or not, the real question is, do we believe that Baby Felix and Baby SG could really happen?
Yes. Yes, we do. :(

I suggested some time back something with a retired senior citizen Johnny Quest and Hadji reminiscing about their adventures while watching their globetrotting grandkids. Someone told me they actually did that some years back in the comics.
There was an old Bugs and Elmer in "The Old Grey Hare"...and "Feather Bluster" had Foghorn Leghorn and Barnyard Dawg as a couple of old geezers recalling their days of taunting each other to their grandsons, who carried on the family tradition....

Kinda yeah. In issue 8, we got to see an older Jonny and an older Hadji. The plot centered around an assasin who sought to kill off the people dearest to Jonny, and his life long mission to stop this assasin. We saw Jonny go from a thirty something teacher to an elderly man in the course of one issue, with a twist ending.
It's available right now at www.milehighcomics.com and is on sale for $1.25. It's an awesome issue in an awesome run of comics.
