The more I watch, the better the characters get. I believe that talk Talho had with Renton is friendliest conversation between the two yet.

We finally got the complete answer as to why Holland is fighting. I'll leave it up to you guys to say it's about time. :p

You're watching [AS]PN! Great matchup tonight! Eureka Seven! Pacific State! Tipoff is next!

Dewey indirectly strikes again.

Toad-Man's giving Renton advice on girls.

When Talho lies, everybody wins. I think I've grown used to her new do.

I guess lifting isn't like riding a bicycle.

Two cute moments in one! And Holland finally grows up! Makes for a great episode.

Nobody leaves, right?

I think they did air the opening sequence. They kept the Japanese language title in.

EDIT: Has NOBODY here mentioned Charles and Ray Beams' cameos in the opening segment?

That's the way it was in the original japanese as well though. I liked this sequence.

I could have sworn the sequence was longer in the original though...

Nope nope. That's exactly how it was in it's original format.

My TV had to do a stupid boardcast thing, which cut off the sound for awhile. I missed what was being said after that guy (can't remember his name) asking Holland to give the crew the time to relax, right up to with Renton and Dr. Bull (was that his name?, the weird looking huge guy). Anyone be able to tell me what was said, either all of it or at least some of it, so I know what went on during that part.

So....does this episode have anything in it that required the use of the extra special content warning? O_o

Yes there was. I just rewatched the opening of this episode in japanese myself. Stoner says basically the same thing there as he does on here.

I find it hilarious that this is the first time we've seen everyone casually ref (considering that that's why Renton was there in the first place), and it's also apparantly the last.

This is an amazing show, I am glad I stuck around from the start. I also laughed at them ref boarding together, and as I recall the last time they tried it holland beat the **** out of renton. Isn't it amazing how things change, from then till now.

Despite all the joking around we did in the chat, this was a good episode. Talho was actually somewhat nice to Renton for a change, there was progress in Holland's character, and Gekkostate disbands. Lots is happening now, and I look forward to see where the plot goes from here.

This episode felt too... nice. Too.... calm. It's a good episode, don't get me wrong, but I get this feeling the stuff is gonna hit the fan from now on. Though, the stuff has almost always hit the fan, so.... erm.....

Good episode.

I actually thought this episode was pretty boring. I mean, it seems like this show has no concept of pacing at all. They have a few episodes that really seem to advance the plot and then they have a few episodes where nothing happens. You know, they could try to put character development and plot development in the SAME episode. There's really no need to devote whole episodes to character development.

Like I said, it'll probably end up being a show that could have been done in 26 episodes.

So I guess showing renton get a light slap makes AS american cowboys? Although the preview was a little bloody.

I'm gonna blame the preview for the warning. ...Well and that every episode is going to have that disclaimer.

I acutally sort of like how they did the show (though yeah, too much filler and not enough of the plot shown early on). It was literally from Renton's POV. Renton didn't know anything about Coralians or the military or whatnot and so neither did we.

There's also no reason NOT to, as long as you have a lot of good characters. Which this show certainly does.

I'll never understand the grudging hatred people on this forum always tend to have for filler episodes.

I can't see how this episode could be called filler, the objective in this episode was not to be entertaining while taking up time, it is to set up things to come in the future, to tie loose ends together, to advance the characters and their relationships.

So the Gekkostate is 'disbanded' even though nobody actually left. No no, I get what they mean... they're still together, though not under that 'banner.'

I don't mind an occasional down episode after we've had so many great ones lately, so I'm not going back to the panic room like I did back in the teen-numbered episodes (it would take the next few to be of same quality or worse to do it). I guess I'm affected by the fact we didn't get the regular OP (though that did play in long format later in the episode in the background)... this show's OPs always do a good job of getting one excited.

I just noticed that scientist who was telling Renton he's supposed to be at Eureka's side at times like these (and is the one that's the Gekko's doctor's ex-husband... gak, why can't I remember third-tier characters names?) has a very large head. That was at least thrice the size of Renton's, I swear!

I like the calmer-headed Talho, but her outfit is still atrocious. And I'll keep harping on it because she can pull off the 'I'm taken' look without looking like she was dressed by the most fashion-blind thing in the universe.

"Loving someone from afar is a big lie!" If only Talho would listen to her own advice... oh, never mind, there she goes now...

Holland scared me a bit when he said this was his 'last lift.' Turns out he was only planning to disband the Gekkostate. Too bad nobody wanted to leave... which is okay. Holland's head, heart, and body are all in the right place now... not beating Renton to a pulp.

"Pacific State": 6.5/10.

Dewey an his little gang really piss me off, I hope Anemone blows his head off...

But yeah...

It was a really nice episode, and it was cool to see everyone just hanging out, realizing that this could be the last time they are ever together.

Good episode, with development for Holland and Talho. I liked the end of the episode, but it was better in SEED when they had a spineless coward who actually did get off the ship.:D

EDIT: Has NOBODY here mentioned Charles and Ray Beams' cameos in the opening segment? I liked that part.

I liked this episode even though I felt cheated so often. The opening scene stopped just short of Eureka. Though what I saw looked like an ugly swimsuit anyway. :p Then there was the build up to Eureka and Renton on the board together that seemed to go by so fast, made a cute picture though. I rather enjoyed Taho whacking Renton for not understanding girls again. She's still brutal, even with her new haircut. Renton getting advice from Bear, then not getting the candy was funny and a little unexpected. Then Holland never did get back on the board. I thought at least one more time, and it hurt Taho so to watch.

I still need a little more on the group. So far I have Holland and Eureka as ex- PKF (?), Taho ex-intelligence sleeping with her superior (Holland?), The mustache guy ex-military with Holland somehow, probably to do with the Gekko, Hap childhood friend, the doctor from the LFO lab. The others I believe are just ref boarders picked up along the way. But It's hard to say quite.

(long time since I saw the movie) The end had a 7 Samurai feel when everyone checked in from their stations. un-ordered any longer, yet ready to charge the breech. "We few, we happy few"

I liked this episode, but there wasn't much action.
Renton was funny grabbing that candy from Bear.
Bear likes Misha? That was kind of funny too.
Talho giving some advice to Renton, she should be the one using it.

Well, there a couple of big revelations in this episode, namely that Holland used lifting as a means to survive in the same way some people use sports as their big ticket to fame and fortune. Even so, the lifting aspect of the Gekkostate was really just a means for Holland and his team to find a way for Humans and Coralians to peacefully co-exist and may have been what motivated Holland to steal Eureka and the Gekko away from the military.

It's possible that earlier references about who Eureka would "choose" may have been about the Human Eureka was going to pick as her counterpart. Holland probably thought it was going to be him until Renton showed up, and if Talho also thought Holland was going to be the one Eureka chose, that might have been the source of a mild resentment towards her, too, IMO...

Another revelation if we go by the opening credits is that this series takes place some 10,000 years into our future...

I read on wiki that the seires last episode ends on April 2nd,12006 not sure if I got the date right but the year is, also I didn't see it thanks to my tivo screwing up, and so far I haven't seen it on Adult Swims Fix site, which kinda blows, I only found subbed version of the episode with no subtitles on youtube, and seeing as were up to episode 22 on the dvds it's gonna be a while before I see it on there

Actually,
In episode 34, Moondoggie's pilot's license states that his birth year is 1988. Moondoggie's age is officially listed as 16, which sets the year the series takes place at 2004.

THIS SOURCE FOR THE ABOVE SPOILER HAS MAJOR SPOILERS:

We're still 10,000 years into the future (this is not a spoiler - that was flat out stated in the last episode). Since they've never said if that we're still on the same calandar that we are now one you could get the same dates as today and still be in the future (plus IMO it's really just a easter egg/injoke).

It could also be a sort of 'official abbreviation'. After all, shortening dates down to two digits is fairly common in reality (generally nobody is ever confused about what '04 stands for, especially if it was on something like a pilot's license). Commonly dropping the 1 off of 12004 seems reasonable to me.
