View Full Version : Why must we buy red to help?

I was thinking about how lately all these products have come out where they've had "Buy this special limited color to help use stop (insert disease of the week)"

Why exactly must you buy that one specific color, even if it's not what you really want to help? If a company really cared at all about helping, why not just make any purchases of a product go towards that cause? They could evne make it a smaller percentage if they're concerned about profits, but you figure you'd have people buying whatever color they like the total would be more than those who'd just buy the one color.

Am I just bitter about the whole thing, or does anyone else think the logic behind doing this is flawed?

I don't get it either.

"We'll stop wearing RED when women stop dying of heart disease!"
*women stand there*
One woman, after a long silence: "Did they stop yet?"

It's just an easy way to stroke your own ego. Now everyone can see what a good person you are!

If there's no standard color how can people recognize other good people? Heaven forbid they go retro and actually talk to each other. :p

Edit: You make perfect sense to me Matt. The other problem in this situation is the companies will do just enough to be recognized instead of going the distance.

Cause it makes you pay extra for AIDs in Africa for stuff you want.
