Alright this is interesting.. I've never heard of E.Coli occurring at a Taco Bell.

But then we've all heard the cases of E.Coli in Spinach, in Hamburgers and even in Home Grown Veggies, but seriously when we first heard of E. Coli, most people think "Jack in the Box" as the Root Cause.

Well it appears that Not all Fast food restaurants could be considered immune to E.Coli..

In this case 11 Taco Bells in New York and New Jersey had this happen, and about 39 cases of E.Coli were reported.. and it seems that this time you can't blame the taco meat.. but rather the lettuce perhaps?

But when you think about it, Lately in the news a lot of e.coli has been caused by tainted veggies instead of undercooked meat..

So what are your thoughts on this?

That i fell like blowing up my local Taco Bell... JK. Well, the workers to those fields where they make produce might have made a boo boo when they didnt wash thier hands and started back to work after taking some god awful dump... even a small thing can lead to a huge outcome.

Just recently, our city water system was shut down for like 3 days because there was traces of Ecoli in our water system, but they traced it back to a neighborhood like 4 miles away from where i live.. but all is good. It kinda hurt some businesses here in the area, but i think things are good now. I wonder if it started by some dare some kids did "Dude, ill give you 5 dollors and a Yu Gi Oh card if you take a dump in the water pipe" XD.

I'm surprised E. coli hasn't been detected earlier at any of these fast-food restaurants. This is Taco Bell we're talking about, after all (though I must admit I live for their chalupas).

This came as a surprise to me also. And I love Taco Bell.:(

This is why I don't buy anything from a Manhattan street vendor, including hot dogs.

I heard about this on the news yesterday...sounds like it was mostly confined to New Jersey, but it's enough to get me to stop eating at Taco Bell for a while...(and yes, I have started eating spinach again, finallly...) ;)

Good thing I never eat at Taco Bell or live in New York or New Jersey.

Ironically, Taco Bell (despite their food, which I wouldn't even give to my worst enemy) has the best food safety record of all the fast-food joints.

I heard about this from a teacher earlier in the week. She said the cause turned out to be the distributor of the meat.
And I liked food from Taco Bell. -_-

On a side note, I did hear from an old friend mine that the meat in the food at Taco Bell...is Grade D.

I just know the Taco Bells in my area are predjudice... to WHITES!!!!

Since all the "latinos" took over the McDonalds and Burger Kings in the area, the Blacks seem to work now for Taco Bell. I bring this up because a while back me and a couple of my friends went to taco bell and one of my friends waited at the register for like 7 minutes while everyone else was in the back pretending not to go to the front, they probably saw him there, but didnt wanna do anything about it. Then someone finally went to the front and got him like his 2 tacos, oh gee that was alot of work to make there...

And no, im not saying every black person works at TB.

Actually it was the onions.

Incorrect. (http://www.snopes.com/food/prepare/badmeat.asp)
Matter of fact, there's no such thing.

lol, I love the fact that no one mentioned that at least one person from CT ended up with E.Coli from Taco Bell.

Taco Bell has the best safety record because they don't cook things. They just heat stuff up.

I don't see why anyone would think it would be immune to violations, though. They do serve lukewarm ground meat. As for the cause on the veggies, considering how widespread it is it's probably because of animal feces in water than some field worker that didn't wash his hands.

I don't think Taco Bells are taken over by black people anymore than the Burger Kings and McDonalds were taken over by Latinos. Maybe I'm just pointing out the blindingly obvious here, but that's kind of a racist thing to say. Considering we're dealing with huge soulless corporations here it's much more likely that that particular race happened to be the most available pool of exploitable low-income workers in the area.

Finally, I used to work in a convenience store Burger King that shared a back kitchen area with a convenience store Taco Bell and trust me, you do not want to see what the red sauce and stuff looks like before it is prepared. Gross.

I actually work in a Taco Bell so I can clear up some things.

First, it was not in the beef, it was in the green onions, if you go to any Taco Bell they will not serve any green onions at all, we threw them all out the day this came out.

As for Taco Bell being bad for you, actually its probably one of the safest places to get food at. Nothing is actually made their, it comes in bags and we just assemble it, and no we do not use Grade D beef.

Well I was watching a show on Discovery channel and during one of the commercial breaks, some guy claiming he was from the CDC (Center for Disease Control, comes on and says that after 71 cases of E.Coli Poisoning and 12 days, the entire E.Coli issue in the Northeast is cleared up (read as "Supposedly Cleared up"). but how much can you trust a Federal official who is a doctor and says three years ago that the worst Outbreak of Flu was "Just a minor sniffle?" I think some folks need to get a clue here.. and that is that it was the Vegetables and not the meat that caused this outbreak, and that the last outbreak before that was also vegetable related..

But my one question remains, really.. Is it over?

Ha... I worked at Taco Bell years ago. I rang up a guys order and then went to make his food, and he accused me of handling his money and not washing my hands before preparing his food. Uh, yeah, I did. Remember when I walked around the corner? See that little sink over there.

He took his food sat and ate, his own hands still corrupted by the same money he was so concerned about.

Wow, business right now at Taco Bell is horrible, were losing at least 100 hundred dollars a day. I really don't see why people are so scared, at the moment with all the safety precautions Taco Bell is taking, its probably the safest place to eat.
