View Full Version : Am I the only one disturbed by the fact that Brian has sex with humans?

You know, after seeing last week's episode of Family Guy, I must say that I'm rather disturbed by Brian having sex with human women. I mean, he's a dog. You know, I wanted to put a poll, but I forgot, and now I can't figure out how.

Yes.

Well, it's the whole joke. Just as noone in the show seems to find Stewie unusual, Brian is treated simultaneously as a dog and a human. He's leading the life of an anthropomorphic cartoon animal but in a world of normal animals and normal humans.

I think it'd be disturbing for him to have sex with other dogs too, since the dogs in Family Guy generally don't have any human qualities.

The disturbing part is the fact that there has been some flip-flopping on the issue. In an earlier season, Brian thought that he got Lois' dad's prizewinning dog pregnant, but then has had sex with human women on the show later on.

Either way, something is off.

EWWWWWWWWWWW!!

I seriously doubt the Family Guy writers are all too concerned with establishing realistic boundaries for Brian's character as it relates to his species. And I doubt most fans care either.

I'm somewhat disturbed that he actually held some thoughts of having children Pearl Bailey (old lady from "Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows"), a woman that should be incapable of having children, especially due to her age? Nothing wrong with the episode, but that part just struck me the wrong way.

It's somewhat disturbing, but not quite. I do somewhat feel that Brian should deserve at least some of that kind of love, since I did feel rather sorry for how he was treated in this regard in "The Perfect Castaway".

If you look at everything strictly in terms of species, then yes, Brian having sex with humans is a bit disturbing, as it's bestiality. True, it'd be even worse if they actually showed it, but that goes without saying.

However, Brian is basically a human for all means and purposes, what with the way he talks, acts, and behaves like a "regular" man. Anthromorphism allows the act of sex to not seem as disturbing, since Brian isn't your typical dog.

EWWWWWWWWWWW!! That's true. It's almost like Brian swings both ways, depending on what route the writers want to go (I mean human and dog, not man and woman, obviously).

Yeah I hate it too, but now I guess the whole other life to Brian is finally coming into play with the story. He said a while back he was paying bills for someone else which could've been her. Still I'd like to know where he's getting the money and how the Hell he got a car. Nobody has say anything about the car at all.

Y'know what'd be more disturbing?

Goofy was a player. He had a lot of women over the years from his cartoons and his comics.

I think this thread has taught us the majority of the American population enjoys watching or having sex with dogs (including the aforementioned Ted Turner).

I don't think you're supposed to think about it that much. It's like getting creeped out by The Muppet Show because a pig wants to have sex with a frog.

I just think they are constantly missing out on a great vein of comedy by never mentioning it.

For instance, The final punchline in the episode about Brian's cousin's gay marriage should have been the minister agreeing to perform the gay marriage but suddenly stopping when he realizes it's betiality. The last word's of the show should have been something like.

Minister: "We are gathered here to join these two in the bonds of.... holy hell, you're a dog! I'll be no part of this!" (walks off)
Brian: "Well, I guess I can't argue with that."

In many cartoons, animals and people are just interchangeable. They're not so much talking animals as they are people represented by talking animals. "Interspecies" relations in these types of shows are usually just accepted without contraversy, but Family Guy deliberately blurs Brian's anthropomorphism. He's a human when they want him to be human and a dog when they want him to be a dog.

Which I think is a big part of his appeal. He takes odd jobs, dates women and tried to write a novel but he still can't help eating dental floss out of the trash.

It's a lot like Stewie basically being a bitter old man in an infant's body
, but noone in his world seems to notice anything unusual about it and he still functions like a baby in a lot of little ways.

Now why would they include all these SMALL PARTS....unless I'm supposed to eat them!

I'm someone who draws anthro characters, canine ones at that, and even I find it a little weird. It's just as weird either way... whether hes with a dog who can't talk or a person. As far as sexuality goes, I prefer animals stick with animals, anthros with anthros, and humans with humans. The only time I make exception is if the anthro is more human than animal (say... a mermaid, catgirl, inuyasha, etc). But Brain is still too doglike, he may talk and drink, but he's also still a pet, wears no clothes, does lots of dog things, etc.

Dogs are constantly trying to have sex with humans, with all the crotch sniffing and leg humping. You dog owners love your pets, but they'd rape you in your sleep if they weren't so stupid. Thank god they don't have opposable thumbs.

Best post of the thread.

I think i'd find this pretty funny if a furry is disturbed by Brian having sex with a human.

Oh, and let's not forget that Brian has been occasionally referenced to masturbating on the show. Twice to my knowledge. :)

To be honest, I get more disturbed when Brian acts more like a dog and less like a human. Him having sex with other girls mostly plays up the fact that's he's more human than dog, which is pretty much the joke of his character.

Especially when he sits like a dog in those early episodes. It just looks weird. :sweat:I think the first person to play Meg actually said the same thing :p I didn't find it too weird then, but after seeing the other seasons it looks weird to me now.

As for Brian having sex with humans, it crossed my mind, but I didn't find it disturbing because its a cartoon, and that's part of the humor of Brian's character: He's a dog who acts human, and is often the voice of reason instead of an actual human :D

In fact, the most thought I have ever had on the subject (aside from reading this thread) is when Brain was with the Pewtersmith's dog. I kept wondering how he'll have a meaningful relationship with a dog who actually acts and thinks like a dog and doesn't talk, not to mention the rape thing, which I guess is different for dogs than humans due to dog hormones forcing them into heat...or something.

Okay, NOW I'm disturbed by this.

Brian having relationships with humans is weird only in light of the episodes that established he's a dog, like the one where he goes to court. Otherwise, it's hardly the most disturbing thing Family Guy's done (although it does rank up there).

He said a while back he was paying bills for someone else which could've been her. Still I'd like to know where he's getting the money and how the Hell he got a car. Nobody has say anything about the car at all.

He did but it was revealed in "Deep Throats" that he was out of a job again. He became a taxi driver there but he's not driving a taxi in more recent episodes so I assume he lost that job/quit that job as well.
