Brilliant thread for a brilliant show.
Yeah, I said it.

If this show was toned down a bit and focused primarily on Orel, it could work on CN, Nick, or to a further extent Disney.

(It sucks that I miss last week's episode  )
Joel is my favorite character. Man, Orel's family has some problems. I wonder if there's a DVD collection of the show.
If this show was toned down a bit and focused primarily on Orel, it could work on CN, Nick, or to a further extent Disney.
But that would ruin it's good humor.

Considering this takes place in middle-America, it sure is...messed up there. I hope it didn't take everyone this long to notice that though.

The same could be said about almost every "non-child friendly" show in existence. Moral Orel would be awful if it was toned down though.

Huh. I'm going to have to rewatch this. It left me feeling, well, "Huh".
You have great stuff like the minister wanting to get laid by a hooker to lose his virginity, complaining of the lack of money while driving an expensive car, Orel being stupid while trying to be smart as a detective, great moments with Doughy (love him tossing that single bite of ice cream in his mouth)-
-meanwhile stuff like seeing his mom in another house definately was shocking, and you start to really feel for Orel when he "figures" it out, except his mom doesn't really have 2 families, but her and her husband are in fact swingers, but it sounds like a "platonic" swinging-thing, where it sounds like the only sexual part of it is that Orel's dad gets off on it.....
I like Morel Orel. Somtimes the message can be heavy-handed (especially this season) but normally I more or less know how I feel after an episode, I "get" it, not that any of this is high intellectual stuff, like the Big O, but I don't really get confused or anything.
This left me confused.
I don't know if its because I was expecting too much out of the swinger development, thinking it'll be a another huge character development moment for the parents, and that I couldn't enjoy the goofy ending. Or maybe the episode could've used some more work.
In short, I didn't really feel the ending, felt tacked on, but maybe I'm ovethinking it :p
God hates Orel. Big time.
Truer statements have never been uttered.

That ending threw me off, I have to admit. I didn't expect Clay to show up there.
As someone mentioned last week, I wish the non-Orel characters were more sympathetic. But that aside.. the mother has to be the most effectively, convincing shrew I've seen in a show in a long time. Something about the character's ability to drift from the oblivious, happily-humming housewife with a cleaning obsession, to delivering the most cutting, curt, every-syllable-powered-by-disgust lines.

When I heard that Orel was going to use logic, I thought the episode was going to be about how logic is a part of science and therefore Christians think it's evil to believe in logic.
This episode was pretty good, but I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't any pay-off for the main plot.
