Another week of anything else/cards thread. Will Bleach be number one this week, or will Trinity Blood continue it's run of increasing it's numbers every week?

If it's anything AS has taught us, it's that fans on their boards can demand and demand and demand and they can still say no. Someone tell John Oppliger that bugging them about airing Hare+Guu after they've turned it down won't work.

I guess it's up to Toonami Jetstream to air one of those shows.

Well, we can cross off Ranma 1/2, GetBackers, and Disgaea off the list. They won't be coming to AS. Bummer, because Getbackers is actually a fun title IMO (Ban and Ginji = one of the more enjoyable male duos in anime).

Quoted for the cold, harsh, truth.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some ASA fans to prod.

Tonight's Family Guy is pretty good. The "Opal Ring Crusade" bits are funny.
Man, they're milking that kitty litter carpet bomb picture.

Robot Chicken is a good show, and I hope as Bleach moves into the more exciting episodes, more people will be watching that as well.

Well once Ichigo... Starts to uncover more about the inner workings of the Soul Society as well as gain greater powers, people might get more interested. I mean look at Naruto. He started out slow but gained speed over time.

Assy was a pilot. It's bound to attract attention. The real question is whether or not people stick around for the 2nd episode.

True, Metalocalypse got a strong premiere, but that's getting a strong run, so it's still up in the air. Pretty amazing how a show called "Assy McGee" got 582,000 people watching though. Moral Orel and Frisky Dingo got kinda shafted, for lack of a better word.

I also think the reason Metalocalypse sticks around is the music. Well it is for me.

I'm going to go ahead and guess Assy's ratings were a pilot thing and it won't really last.
Metalocalypse stuck around because it has legitimate appeal to it and a few built in fanbases; I can't imagine "haha talking ass" can hold up as well.
Then again people seemed to like Smoking Gun. :(

Land,
Plus the fact Metal has...well metal! I mean you look at today's musical landscape and most of the "pop" has died or been replaced by hard rock and/or metal bands. In any event regardless of what happens now, Metal is here to stay. Thank god!

Naruto had good ratings from the get go. And had some of it's best I believe only 2 months after it's premiere. Bleach might be able to garner enough interest to get 400k on Saturday in the near future due to things getting more interesting but it just seems like Saturday AS anime (reguardless of how good or bad they are) can't crack much more than 300k.

Sketch,
Perhaps that's so. But can't blame me for wanting to see a good show do as well as say FMA did or even GitS back in the day. Still even if it doesn't, I want AS to be committed to this show. I think they'll find it well earned. (Goodness knows Inuyasha didn't help matters much.)
While it is nice that people realized Robot Chicken ALSO airs at 11PM, the fact that the 11:15 episode continues to get better ratings baffles me.

Since I'm not sure which of Rabi's answer you're responding to I'm not sure if I should inform you that by my clocks Adult Swim is running early or if I should ask you why you're in Rabi's house checking the time on her clocks.

300k is plenty to keep a show on Adult Swim. The reruns on weekdays will probably get better ratings. Which lends to the opinion that Saturday AS really just doesn't work because it's Saturday even when Futurama is around.
So once Bleach is stripped, we may see the second coming of the Inu-Yasha fandom.
Or not...

Bleach doesn't have the soap drama that Inuyasha does and that's likely largely what makes it the ratings winner it is. It sure can't be for the "action". It may be able to beat FMA though.

That I'd like to see. Unless you're speaking in terms of the current stripping of FMA on weekdays. Then I'll probably agree. (Weekdays...don't matter much to me since they are just that. A day of the week I care less and less about.)
And yes, unlike Inuyasha, Bleach has a) actual character depth, b) few, if any unkillable bad guys, c) nothing to get a fan girl's panties in a twist. (Certainly it has nothing that rates as high or causes more controversy as Inuyasha/Kagome/Kikyo was/is.)
Beat,
It's probably more accurate to call Bleach the coming of DBZ to AS. It's certainly a better version of that show.

Hold on their cowboy...
Bleach has little more depth than Inuyasha of the 60 or so episodes I've seen. I'm not sure about the bad guys... you know it's kind of ambiguous in Bleach but some characters I'd say are unlikable but eh... I don't really think about it. Fangirls love the handsome fellas in Bleach. There is a wee bit of love drama but not like a soap opera... more like Naruto. Bleach I'd say is a much better show than Inuyasha any way you slice it. But I'd be careful about saying it's a better version of DBZ. It's a "newer" version of DBZ. Better is debatable. It probably has more depth but not much more purpose than DBZ if anyway and DBZ fans would string you with a noose for saying such a thing.

I still love Shake's lines all throughout the episode.
Frylock: Famous short story about a ship that had a hole in it?
Meatwad: No.
Master Shake: Yeah, just go put on your ballerina shoes get the rest of the outfit, be who you really are... Dr Zhivago. Yeah, you suck.
Willie Nelson: I mean do you guys have a fan..or something? I mean, I'm just gonna borrow it. I'm not gonna keep it.
Master Shake: You are the gayest monster since gay came to Gaytown!
Willie Nelson: No, you're right, I don't think violence solves anything.
Master Shake: God, you're gay! You don't think violence solves anything!?
Master Shake: Yeah, I bet you do a number... in your tights... on Broadway... which is where ya moved to after ya left Texas Chainsaw Mascara... where you're from!
Master Shake: Come. Now remember you have no regard for human life, most especially women because they have the organs that you wish that you had so you wanna make a suit from them.
Willie Nelson: But I don't wanna make a suit from them.
Master Shake: Listen to me, that's how it's done. All you concern yourself with is kill, kill, kill, ya got it? None of this side crap cause its throwing you off!
Willie Nelson: Of course, Blood-Feast Island Man does thirst for blood.
Master Shake: Yes, the thirst is part of his pain, because the Devil had sex with a dog, and your mother was that very dog.
Willie Nelson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know all about that. And as you know, because you wrote it, I do feel the need to kill again.
Master Shake: You crave it!

Aah, early Family Guy. While FG will never be known for its plots, the early episodes actually had plots which some cutaways could hang off of, rather than a mountain of cutaways with bits of a skeleton of a plot wrapped around them.
To be fair, it has gotten alot better in S5. Although its been dipping alot into political plots, which American Dad should be covering. But its also good that AD can stand on its own and not always use its one-trick pony. But then they should really have had a better premise, or actually use that premise more often.....ow, my head.....

I think the main problem was the gigantic order they got from Fox. Out of the blue, they got a 35 episode order. They probably had to phone in a lot of it.
But yeah, I had forgotten how funny the early episodes were.

Firstly the DBZ fans have to find me. Secondly...let's just say it's not healthy to try and linch the Worm God.
Considering while Inuyasha had 1 main bad guy, Bleach at least offers us levels of "main" to deal with. Inuyasha (the anime) just reeks because of all the filler. Toss that out, you get...well decent at times.
I say better than DBZ since a) I've yet to see Ichigo blow up universes yet. b) it's certainly doesn't relgate the main cast as much in favor of one guy. c) the fact they've yet to bring in someone that can change reality in any way like some of the DBZ villians can. (I mean change the world into say cookies for starters.)

What are you talking about? It's not as notable as Goku but Ichigo fights all the big fights and the others sometimes are lucky to even survive their fights. Ishida can hold his own from the get go but that's what makes him sorta Piccolo for Bleach. For much of DBZ and at least half the movies you've either got Goku saving the day or Piccolo fighting the tough fights to save Gohan. It's rather refereshing when it isn't that but Bleach is guilty of similar things. Though no more so than One Piece or Naruto... or most shounen really. You tend to have the #1 guy who wins most of the big fights, a couple of very strong characters who tend to win their fights unless they let their character traits get in the way and a couple of seemingly weak but still gifted ones that occasionlly get a win or can at least outsmart their foes. No disrespect to those characters many of them are awesome but that's just how they're written in an action shounen.

While it may be true the "main guy" fights the big fights, it's also true the fact that others, like Chad and to a lesser extent, his father, can prove they hold their own. Ichigo is the main guy, no question, but I still find unlike Inuyasha, the others can often rely on themselves to save themselves. Shounen might stick to formulas, that is true. But I think good/great shounen pieces can transcend that.
