UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is it with doing 'baby' versions of shows? Do the animators get off on drawing their characters in diapers or something? And wasn't there already a show with little looney tunes called...hm.....I dunno... TINY TOONS?!
Graaaaaaaghhhhhhhhllll.
Bad WB. BAD!!!
OH MY GOD!!!!!!

I have VERY mixed feeling about this, personally. I mean, it's not like the concept hasn't worked before (Muppet Babies comes to mind), and at least we know what'd they look like from the merchandise...
I dunno, maybe until we here more on the cartoon's summary will I be able to get an idea what the show's gonna be like.
And why am I trying to picture a LT version of Nanny?

Perhaps it will be a slightly younger (Canadian voiced, no doubt) version of Granny before she went off her rocker.

Aside from the pretty obvious "Tiny Toons Redux" complaint, the only known fact about the show, the Canadian actors thing, gives me very little confidence. Eh?
I don't know what WBA is thinking. Oh wait, yes I do. Money. Here's hoping they get some good writers, otherwise, I'll be avoiding this like the plague. This is me being optimistic. :D

Egad.....um, not sure what to make of this idea. Besides that it just *sounds* bad... I figured there was a reason for making the "Tiny Toons" as seperate characters from the LT's (vs. actually being Bugs & co. as kids). Plus, I'm wondering what sort of tone this show would have---something like what we saw in "The Old Grey Hare"'s "flashback" scene? That Chuck Jones-made-for-TV cartoon where kid-Bugs was chased by kid-Elmer and his pop-cork gun? A general "Muppet Babies" knockoff? And I suppose I could presume this show's taking place in the "present" (vs., erm, decades ago or something), meaning we'll see "baby Wile E." with an MP3 player or something. And I gather they'd either have to make up parents for the LT crew, or just swipe "Muppet Babies" premise and use a younger version of Granny playing "Nanny" to the gang.
Eerily, I think I made fun of this in some random posting on this board awhile ago ("bogus new TV shows", with "The Warner Kids"--- younger versions of the Warners and lab mice (incl. "Lil' Brainy"), and the obligatory anachronisms showing up (an adult-and-same-age version of Axel Foley showing up, wondering what the blazes is going on)).
Though that might be a good question: something must be going on (besides having new blood at KWB I guess), seeing as (if the "LT Babies" series is actually true), they seem to be going back to airing actual *humor* shows again. Perhaps realizing they needed a more varied lineup? To stand ground against eroding ratings for "Pokemon" (and/or prepare if the show actually leaves their lineup)?

I kinda wish Steven Spielburg would go back to doing cartoons. His absence at Kids WB is sorely noticable.

The hiring of voice talent from Canada could be scary. I mean, OK, Maurice LaMarche is Canadian, so that wouldn't be so bad ... but on the other hand, those who do the English dubs for anime shows are outfits in Canada -- and we KNOW those are horrible.
The whole idea of Anything Babies is just lame. Heck, they did a gag routine about how lame those ideas are on a recent episode of Sheep in the Big City. "It's the same characters you know and love, but THEY'RE BABIES!!!" "awww..." Bleah. If you want to do a show with existing characters, USE THE EXISTING CHARACTERS!

Do NOT diss H! That show lead me to this site in the first place, for starters. And it had very clever writing and chars.
(I am the resident H! fan here. :P )
As for the LT babies...well, let me say this. *BB puts a fishbowl over his head. He then screams, and we can probably guess what he's saying* WHY, WHY, WHY!??!! I mean, really. Do we need to see all those cruddy merchandise chars come to life? Do we really need to see this obviously short-lived series in the first place?
Will the pope turn Protestant? If you can answer that last question, you know my feelings. :D

The voice work coming from Canada doesn't scare me. The voices for the Sam&Max cartoon was done in Canada besides they could do worse they could get the accounting deparment to do the voices.
What scares me is the idea. If they want to have baby versions of the characters it works better by doing it in the exsisting cartoon like how we had Baby Plucky in TTA. That way the writters are not tied down to the format.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy is voiced in Canada. As long as they teach good hygine (sp?) I will be happy.
I have no problems with the voice cast originating from Canada except for the fact that they are doing this to save money and they have a perfectly good staff of LT voice actors that they could use over them.
I found this CD cover image online. It's from the "Baby Looney Tunes" CDs.

I don't think that problem is due to their being Canadians-there's good and bad voices in every country.
I think the problem is going with cheap outfits, rather than spending dough on quality voice-actors.

We don't know if the outfit they are going for is cheap remeber the Canadian dollar is at an all time low thus even if they go with top rate Canadain voice talent it would still be cheaper then using US voices.

Well, if they get Top Rate Canadian voice actors, they should be pretty good- remember, Mr. LaMarche meets that description.

Warner should have went in the Mickey Mouse Mouseworks direction. Disney continued the tradition of classic Disney cartoon with a modern twist. Oh well, any in the 80's when Muppet Babies hit it big, all the other studios came up with babies versions of their characters.
Disney Babies
Popeye Babies
Looney Tunes Babies
Both Disney and Looney Tunes Babies are still making merchandise.
Look this would not be the first Looney Tunes Babies cartoon, last year or the year before Warner produced an animated short called "Little Beep". Basically it was about baby Road Runner and Willie E. Coyotoe. I have not seen it yet but I have heard about from people who have.
What next? Scooby Babies, Flintstones Babies, Transformer Babies, or my personal favorite Justice League Babies produced by Bruce Timm.

They've also already done the (rather funny) "A Pup Named Scooby Doo" (the gang as 10- or 12-year olds, and Scoob's a pup, all done in a cartoonish fashion and sort of parodying the original show). Liked the "Velma's-computer-is-a-monster" one (which probably had one of, if not the, most amusing "cheesy fake rock music dance sequence" bit, with even the "micro-monster" [as the song called him] dancing at one point...heh...).
In terms of the JLA, there is the "Teen Titans", which originally consisted of the various sidekicks/proteges of the original JLA-ers (Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl, Aqualad, Speedy [Green Arrow's sidekick] being the original members...). In the 80's its successor series "The New Teen Titans" (with new members thrown in) went on to become DC's most popular book (a la the "X-Men" at Marvel).
There's also Superboy, aka "the Adventures of Superman when he was a boy" in terms of "kiddified" heroes (Superboy was created in 1945, 7 years after Superman was created, cashing in on Supes' popularity [and probably to secure the trademark to the "Superboy" name/compete against Capt. Marvel]). And they even published occasional adventures of "Superbaby" (the infant/toddler Clark Kent's various superpowered misadventures on Earth....which basically ran along the same lines as what you saw in PatB's "Two Mice and a Baby")...

There are also parodies.
Sheep in the Big City did a parody called "Secret Military Organization Babies". Quite hilarious.
There's also an upcoming "Futurama Babies" episode of Futurama.

Well, probably one point of making fun of those "Baby" cartoons is that they *do* violate whatever semblance of internal consistency/continuity we know abou thte characters (i.e., we *know* Fred and the gang first met as teenagers/young adults at some hotel on the original show, *not* as "Flintstone Kids" growing up together [with "Freddy" for some reason wearing a tie, despite most 10-year-olds not opting to wear a tie usually...unless his parents forced him to wear it...]).

No, no, no. That's not the case at all.
I'm not making fun of kid-sizing. I'm just saying that an episode of "Futurama" that features Fry and Leela as babies could not be a flashback because Fry was cryigenically frozen from the year 2000 instead of growing up in the 30th Centery with Leela.
Most likely, they will be zapped on accident by some moron, like a Sober Bender, using a ray gun witch can take years off of a person or they will take an idiotic measure, like they did with the Flintstone Kids.

I must have missed that episode of "Flinstone Kids." That show really did violate continuity. It really was supposed to be the Flinstones when they were kids.

According to the episode guide, they de-age due to a regression cream or something to that effect.
Speaking of Futurama, what is the deal with David Cohen being the head writer of Courage the Cowardly Dog? And the scripts aren't even that good! Why can't Courage have Futurama humor like David's other show.... you know.. the one called FUTURAMA?

Geez. I leave for a couple of days, and look what happens. I thought that the whole "miniaturization" thing died in the late 80s, Tiny Toons aside. Also, as has been pointed out, Tiny Toons already did the miniaturization thing... and did it well, because, to a large extent, the characters were new instead of warmed-over versions of the LT gang.
I also heard part of the Baby Looney Tunes CD while I was at Six Flags a while back... and it was HIDEOUSLY bad. No intrigue here, just a sense of impending doom.

Actually the Looney Tunes Babies have been around for about 10 years in merchandise alone with the Disney Babies. As I stated in my easier post, Warner produced a new animated short based off the concept with Road Runner and Willie E. Coyotoe.
Cartoon Research has a picture of it.

I think that this show might be aimed toward pre schoolers or todders on Cartoon Network similar to Nick Jr or Playhouse Disney.
If this show is successful it will be probably lead Disney into making a series based off their Disney Babies francis.

I seriously doubt it'll be on Cartoon Network.
Cartoon Network would be stupid to try and compete against PBS and Nick Jr. Especially when there are people that don't want to watch that stuff on CN in the first place. CN's basic demographic is 6-34.. I don't see why they should extend it.

Saliah has one of those baby books where you note important moments and momentos of junior's life--first toenail clippings, a lock of hair, first birthday, photos of family members, etc--which is decorated with Baby Looney Toons. What gets me is that in the pic on the cover, Baby Tweety is half Bugs' size, and looks virtually indidstinguishable from adult Tweety. Bob Clampett atually first designed Tweety as an infant in " Tale of Two Kitties" --a bald, pink, "naked genus" with an attitude problem...seems the ideal Baby Tweety would borrow from the early forties design.
What next, MTV babies? Beavis and Butt-Head appear as infants for several seconds in their Do America picture...and Quinn and Daria are seen as children in "Boxing Daria" and one other ep (the frightening thing is, Quinn's voice sounds the same at sixteen as it did when she was four). Perhaps baby versions of Road Rules and Real World--see seven babies brought together in one nursery to deal with the drama of diaper changes and bottle vs. breast debates. Or Baby Jackass, in which neonates recklessly flip off changing tables, hose each other with milk, and wrestle crazed housepets. ;)
Re: Fred's tie--actually, does he need it even as an adult? Seems most blue-collar workers either dress causal or wear coveralls, at least on the job....

I noticed that about "Baby Tweety"'s design as well...though I think the difference is that he's drawn to look slightly "cuter"-looking (slightly bigger eyes/larger head/smaller body)...
>>>Re: Fred's tie--actually, does he need it even as an adult? Seems most blue-collar workers either dress causal or wear coveralls, at least on the job.... <<
Good point, but like all cartoon characters, we almost never see Fred change clothes for most occasions---plus, if he's pattered off of Ralph Kramden (of the "Honeymooners"), Ralph used to wear a tie as a bus driver for NYC.
It just struck me as odd that on the "Flintstone Kids", a 10-year-old would be shown as willingly wearing a tie (unless "Freddy"'s parents made him wear it). It wouldn't have been for school---apparently Bedrock Elementary looked like a public school (or one with a relaxed dress code)...
