Orihime has powers now.
And apparently a team of guardian pixies at her side.
This is getting weirder and weirder.
Ichigo's father is still insane. And Kon is a nutcase. Is everyone here except Ichigo NOT crazy?

This dub has by far some of the weirdest scripting I have ever seen. They keep lots of technical terms in their original Japanese form, but then they have Ichigo addressing Ishida by his given name. At least they have Kon calling Rukia "Sis" now, the previous omission of that bugged me.
The episode by itself was decent, but considering what is coming up next week, it pales in comparison. 7/10
Next episode we get to see one the strongest (and biggest) hollows in existence.

Tatsuki rules. The episode further convinces me she and Karin (from the last epsiode) have got to have something in store for them further down the line, considering the abilities and strength they show. Still makes me think Tatsuki might've been a better choice than Orihime to gain powers and all that...
The pixie scene came off real clunky and hokey for me, especially thanks to the infodump.
Wow, that song in the last scene is awful.
Ichigo's dad continues to make things really awkward.

As much as I like Orihime I always felt gypped Tatsuki never got powers and became part of the team. I mean she can beat up on non-'Soul Reaper' Ichigo.
It was kind of like watching Sailor Moon again.
As much as I like Orihime I always felt gypped Tatsuki never got powers and became part of the team. I mean she can beat up on non-'Soul Reaper' Ichigo.Oh, it's been foreshadowed enough that I expect it at some point.
edit: also, I don't think she can beat him up anymore. I seem to remember the manga implying that Ichigo eventually overtook her in their karate class as kids.

Oh, you haven't heard the last of that song...
But really, it's fortunate that it's so lame and cheesy. After cringing, it turns into ironic fun, and now I smile every time I hear it.
And yeah, the issue with first name usage is pretty weird. This dub's only problems so far have been with translations, the VA is quite good.
Next week is awesome.

Wrong. Orihime: ()()
You know. I'm not sure that this series really needed a bunch of pixies.
I find Ichigo's dad rather disturbing. Why the hell did he feel the need to bare his chest to hug his daughter? If I actually knew a father who acted that way towards his daughter I'd probably call child protective services.
And did anyone else notice that at the beginning of this episode Ichigo pronounce Kon the way everyone on this board says it's supposed to be pronounced?

You know, I actually probably would have rather been surprised to get the new ending. But, I guess it really doesn't matter. Seems pretty early to get a new ending doesn't it? I mean, I know Eureka 7 changes endings every 13 episodes, but usually longer series wait a bit longer to change the ending. Do we know if Adult Swim will air the other openings and endings or will they pull a Bo-bo-bo-bo Bo-bo-bo on us?

I'm guessing the manga passed this point of the story sometime between the when the anime began production and when it started airing in Japan, judging by the Intro.
Am I correct?
For some reason, Stephanie Sheh sounded really off most of the episode as Orihime, especially in the beginning. This is made up by Urahara's VA getting some better direction, resulting in the voice not sounding so forced.
As for the actual episode: Tsubaki rules.

Ichigo calling Ishida by his given name for the insta-fail.
Good episode, but that aspect makes this dub mediocre at best. Hopefully the correct that soon, because its REALLY annoying and out of place.
Just two episodes until the story starts, now!

Ichigo calling Ishida by his given name for the insta-fail.
But for some reason Ishida calls Ichigo by his family name, which is true to the original version. That's what bugs me, it's so inconsistent in the dub.

On the contrary. I thought this episode was the first time I enjoyed Stephanie Sheh as Orihime. When she "got down to business" she didn't sound too much like Eureka or some of her other roles and I appreciated that if only a little bit.
Tsubaki does indeed rule.

No, she wasn't playing around. Chizuru is a lesbian and hot for Orihime. Its actually even more blatant in the manga, and Kubo has actually mentioned that many of his proposed lines for her have been rejected by his editors.

Yea, but the first 5 minutes were just awful (when Orihime started to push Tatsuki and Chizuru away, that was one of the worst-acted moments in the dub yet), and I wish Sheh would pick a pronounciation for Chizuru and stick with it. She went from "Chizu-ru" to "Chi-zu-ru" and back all throughout the episode.

Nah, she's only got hots for Ichigo, which again, is more spelled out in the manga. (In the manga, she imagines the two of them running through a field of flowers, only for the scenery to change to them running a marathon, and during the Kon arc in the manga, Orihime realizes Ichigo's coming near because she can smell him no matter where he is [she gets a pair of cat ears and whiskers during this shot], not to mention that realized right off that Ichigo wasn't Ichigo during that arc).

Ichigo/Orihime FTW. Pretty obvious, too.
Ichigo/Orihimie
Rukia/Renji
Hitsugaya/Hinamori
True couplings of Bleach.
Lord knows Ichigo would have to eat out every day for the rest of his life, but with someone like that, it's fine.
If you want to use Yu Yu Hakusho parallels, Orihime is Keiko to Rukia's Botan.

I'd rather eat my own spawn thanks.
Orihime is certainly true to her "name" roots. But as far as any ability she might have cooking, I think it's safe to say, Ichigo better learn to cook for himself.
On a side note, I really think Ichigo needs to learn something about his "leakage" with spiritual energies. If this "energy" was similar to radiation, for example, this entire city would be infested with six armed mutants or something similar.

But this is a good time for the new ending. Team Ichigo has now been introduced and it's time to set up the big bads for the next part of the story.
But, you know that elegant looking girl with the black hair who is shown in the ending hasn't had any lines yet. I mean, Kon checked her out in the episode where he was first introduced, but she hasn't had any lines yet. You'd figure that they'd want to at least give all the characters in the first ending lines before they change the ending.
Kyuss

Moron,
Uhm maybe because she's a secondary character, and not as important as say Chad or Orihime. I could be wrong...

You mean the girl the teacher automatically trusted after the incident was over?
If so, there's a good reason she doesn't have many lines, and it has a major reason to do with the arc that starts up soon.

I'm loving Tatsuki more and more, as it seems she fits into this series a whole lot more than Orihime does. Then again, Tatsuki with Orihime's awesome assets... uh, I mean, powers. :anime:
The pixies' introduction worked better in the manga because it is rather lengthy, so it was hard to catch names and whatnot. But seriously, they're gonna have a hard time teaching that girl about her powers. Oh well... at least one good thing came out of this... she can just use them and yell "I reject" every time a guy looks at her 'that' way.
And did the conflict between Ichigo and Ishida really last this long? They haven't done anything, and I already wish the battle was dang over!
"Flower and Hollow": 6.5/10.
And did the conflict between Ichigo and Ishida really last this long? They haven't done anything, and I already wish the battle was dang over!
Things always seem to go faster in the manga, especially when you're reading the graphic novels, where everything's already collected into one space.

Yolei/Miyako
Meilin
Anzu/Tea
Sango
Hilary/Hiromi
Nami
Lt. Hawkeye
Maj. Kusanagi
Tenten
Hinata
Talho
Anemone
Esther
any girl voiced by Kate Higgins or Colleen Clinkenbeard
and now, Tatsuki. So there. I know I'm really pathetic.
If this were the real world Karin's dad would have been featured on a Law & Order:Special Victims Unit episode a long time ago.
From the POV of someone who's only seen what AS has shown so far, I would have guessed that Ichigo/Rukia would be the obvious couple, but whatever.

Their relationship isn't of a romantic nature. Its like brother and sister.
IE: Yusuke and Botan. Employer and reluctant employ.

Freedom Fighter, I was wondering - have you ever given anything a rating OTHER than 6.5-7.5/10?More often than you might think... but a lot of times it falls in that range because I'm 'interested' but not really wowed. It takes something like most episodes of "Avatar," or almost every episode of "Eureka Seven" in the last two-three months to jump higher than that...
I don't like giving anything lower than a 5 if possible... but you'll rarely see me actually mention a score, or heck, even write a review for it. If some show actually resorts to me having to score it below 5... good bet you probably won't see or hear me watching about it again (see "Inuyasha" after Episode 82 or so...).
To tie this into "Bleach," it's pretty much on the same wavelength as the early episodes of "Naruto"... things really don't get pick up until they get into what I would assume is the 20s, yet the show is still interesting enough now to watch and wait. (And to be more fair, to me the "Bleach" manga starts off far better than "Naruto.")
