An insane man painted this:

Which is a copy of this:

Apparently there is something about his copy that reveals his rare phobia/mental disorder. No one knows for sure what it is yet except for the professor who brought up the comparison. This thread on SomethingAwful has more information on the situation:

The professor claims that he will reveal the answer soon.

That's a really scary picture.

I think the guy suffers from Rockwellophobia, which is fear of art that doesn't look like something Norman Rockwell would have painted. That this looks like somethng painted by Rockwell while he was tripping only adds to the mystery!

None of the houses have doors. Fear of being stuck outside in the cold?

Is that a pirate in his painting?

Those horses in the crazy guys painting look evil. Maybe he's scared of horses.

The background is off with that line that goes through th middle, it cuts off houses and trees. the horses look starge IMO. Is it plazable tat each half is looking at it froom a different angle?

You have to look at the entire painting cross-eyed, like a Magic Eye Book
that's how you figure it out

Really? Is that a joke? I'm supposed to see something?

Well, he's not afraid of accordions--- as he also recreated them in his picture.
Look closely at the reins in the horses' "necks". Most of them look like evil grins. The trio in the middle specially, as they resemble some kind of monsters with creepy laughs.

It seems like the "professor" was a hoax... The painting is real and the painter really was insane, but everything else about the story seems to have fallen apart. Here is the original blog with the story:

Sorry to get you intrigued over nothing. I honestly wanted to know too.

HA! kinda funny.... i would have guessed fear of total isolation or open spaces, maybe even fear of total silence or being lost, if it were true. eh, whatever, it rattled my brain a little.

It would have been stupid to glean anything from a painting, especially when it comes to stretches in realism. By that logic, Picasso must have been seriously outta this world.
Personally, I think the mental painter has a very interesting sense of layout. IMO, it's much more striking than the original, despite not being as technically proficient.

Well, hoax or no, there are no bare heads in the copy. Everyone is wearing a head covering of some sort. Perhaps he has a hair phobia?
Also, I would think that revealing this person's "problem" would be a violation of his personal right to privacy. Something like doctor/patient privelage, or whatever if it applied to professors.
