CALPURNIA: When beggars die, there are no comets seen;
The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.

Esther takes command.

Bigger brother betrays.

Abel's still a dork.

And nobody expects the Inquisitorial Department...Spanish or otherwise.

Cripes, was that that guy from episode 1?

I thought vampires could almost instantly heal from wounds.

I thought vampires could almost instantly heal from wounds.In this series, vampires have a severe weakness to silver, which is what the vampire boy was shot with.

Geez, with the way Esther and vampire boy were going at it with each other in the room, I thought they would eventually make out at one point... Other than that disturbingly long sequence, nothing actually happened in this episode.

A Nun and a bishie Vampire making out in front of a Priest and Inquisitor in Assault Marine armor: dang, that's going to be my Christmas Card this year :)

Ummm...who were those two people at the end of the episode? It made it seem like we were supposed to be shocked that these two characters were meeting but I had no idea who those two people were.

The first was Radu, who everyone thought was killed 10 minutes earlier. The second is the Puppet Master/Medling (I think I spelled that right), who was the main bad guy during Esther's 2-part introduction episodes (he also cameoed in the Sword Dancer episode, where it was revealed he's one of the Four Counts).

Wow, the character designs on this show must be really bland if I didn't even recognize Radu after I saw him 10 minutes ago.

Not to mention that you didn't reconize his voice. Medling I can understand because that small section of the episode he had didn't really sound like trademark Justin Cook, though.

Maybe it's because his hat fell off when he went into the water. :P

I thought it was werewolves that had a weakness to silver? Vampires are vulnerable to wood, or cloves of garlic.Since we don't exactly have any werewolves or vampires to study, their weaknesses are open to interpretation. A lot of what we think of as "classic" werewolf and vampire lore is, in fact, quite recent. There's no particular reason to adhere to some artificial sense of "authenticity", so long as the world you've created remains internally consistent.

Vampires' weakness to silver isn't necessarily without precedent, however.
(...and has a lot to do with vampires and mirrors, btw.)
