Eureka Seven Essay #7
I am going to be honest Mr. Russo, I haven't watched the required watching for this show. I was busy this week; I had an exam in another class, had to work a lot, and subsequently I was unable to view any of the show in question. It looked pretty good, if that counts for anything. I kindly point you in the direction of my "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" essay, a show which... (more)

Finally: the plot comes forth. And it took 20+ eps of filler to get there :p
Any who, its getting really interesting. Humans come to this planet to populate, the Coralians want to assess and possibly eradicate the new threat. Wonder how the archetypes come into play. Did man create them? Scubs/Coralians? 3rd species? Are they a 3rd species? And I like the analogy of Eureka being a blank slate. She lives amongst the humans and then is probably called back so the Coralians find out how this new species ticks.
Anyone else getting a Miyazaki vibe? Man vs Nature?
Edit: Here comes the Antibodies. Dang, the carnage. Dewey is a bastard. Looks like he planed the Anti-bodies to attack in the first place.

That attack of the neon eyeballs was surreal, to say the least.

Deweys a pimp. This episode was dark with all those innocent people being slaughtered by the scub coral, I was guessing the scub corral was maybe some more enlightened being full of love and great understanding about the world. I guess I was wrong it was an eye for an eye, who died was irrelevant, the corralians can be as violent and stupid as humans.
p.s. Did anyone else notice all the antibodies had eyes like Eureka and Anemone?

I don't know if anyone else is having trouble, but I watch the first half, and then the second half refuses to load. The damn thing just says "loading" and nothing else happens.

the antibodies are Coralians just like Eureka and Anemone (except E & A are human form Coralians).

For some reason, your have to watch the anime within the first six hours before it disapears. Don't know if it's on purpose, or an error with the new Fix. Sucks for us West Coasters.

The struggle between colonizing humans and a pre-sentient native lifeform reminds me of the computer game Alpha Centauri.
Anyone else ever play that game?

Sucks for us West Coasters.I poasted my complaint at 8:22 PM. That was, I believe, less than 2 and a half hours after the show first appearsd (which SHOULD have been 6:00 PM).
That place really sucks, and they don't appear to give a good *******.

I actually thought Eureka grabbed his butt when he made that reaction at the sink. And wow, this episode went from being lighthearted to complete terror in a quick hurry. Overall, a good episode.

The attacking aliens looked like the rejected creations of Dr. Seuss that rose up from hell...
Also Dr.Bear must have a form of giganticism, his head is half the size of a normal human

Aww, poo, The Myst stole my joke! :P
Heading into its sixth consecutive week of pre-credit violence disclaimers, it's Eureka Seven episode 31--"Animal Attack!"
Where did we begin just now? DANG IT [AS] GIVE US SOME FRICKING SUBTITLES!
I think I liked Talho's old outfit better.
CUTE DISHWASHING SCENE...but man, that flashback came out of nowhere.
Mischa's old hubby looks like a toad.
Who's really in charge if it's not Dewey?
I'm getting an End of Eva vibe right now. We've had an LFO massacre, a couple of freak-out scenes, and now we've just had graphic depictions of people exploding. Wow, what's with this show?

ah, kind of a let down after the last few shows. So that's Dewey, did ne just push between her legs to express power? Deweys a jerk, he's willing to destroy Anemone to use her.
This show has taken a definite Evangelon turn. That's disappointing. The creatures feel wrong for this show, I kept expecting InuYasha,,, WINDscar *hissbang*. <edit> No, as I think more about it, there's to much of an underlying theme of conflict between "protecting what you love" (should) and "destroy what you fear" (shouldn't) that's a more firm message than Eva had. <edit>
I don't see Eureka as so much a recon for the Corralian now that she's linked with the Nirvash and Renton. at this point she seems on her way to become a way for humans and corralians to co-exist. Nirvash's changes seem to be aimed at confronting the new airbourne threat, while the corralian is using a more "sledgehammer" approach.
I miss Talho's old look.

Coralians are no joke--they're definitely like antibodies attacking and destroying any foreign object in their ecosystem (in the case of planet Eureka VII--or whatever the planet is called--that's unfortunately Humans).
IMO, I don't think the sentience behind the Coralians is actually malevolent and actually does want to co-exist peacefully with Humans. Eureka and Anemone may have been sent as ambassadors to live among Humans--with very mixed results for both. Still, Coralians are fatal to Humans in their natural forms and their horrendous attack on the city was the result of an unprovoked orbital bombardment that unleashed them...
I smell war...

I think talho's new look really suits her, at first I thought it looked terrible now I kind of like it. What Dr.Bear was saying made me really wonder, if Eureka really is a blank piece of paper what would of happened if Renton didn't pull her out of the scub she was being absrobed into? Would the scub coral have absorbed all of that anger and lonelyness then made a negative decision about whether or not to co-exist with humanity?

I loved how everyone's reacting to Talho's new look. Especially Mathieu, who got not one, but two slaps from Hilda.
I think it's weird that Renton doesn't object by Eureka saying she feels comfortable forgetting her past when he's around... because he's been waiting so long for her to open, shouldn't he be concerned that his presence is having the opposite desired effect?
I honestly did not see this coming. Dewey and the military opening fire on the Scubs, and the Scubs retaliating by killing a whole city of innocent bystanders. Whoa... just where are we heading now, anyway?
"Animal Attack": 7.5/10.

Well, that was weird.
Who is the lady Dewey is talking to?
What's with the demons killing everyone in that town?
Renton's reaction to Eureka is priceless.

-It took me a couple of viewings to realize that that lady smothered her own son (...guess I'm slow). :(
...That's pretty harsh. But then, if it were a choice between being ripped apart or asphyxiated, I think I'd do what she did and give my child the more merciful death.
-About the antibodies: I agree that the creatures seemed slightly surreal, but I kind of expected them to be brightly-colored, if you think about what real coral looks like.
-Oh for Pete's sake just kiss her already, Renton! Must they always be interruped like that?
-Holland's intense look at the end...I wonder what he is planning...
-Dewey's ever so slightly spreading of the sage's legs makes him even more evil. I was totally weirded out by that moment.
-Everyone's reactions to seeing Bear suddenly appear in the Gekko were hilarious...Moondoggie's head hitting the table, the crew finding out Mischa was once married (I didn't see that one coming), and then Stoner taking a picture of Bear. That whole scene was great.
For an episode with a lot of heavy stuff happening, there sure was a lot of comedy in it.
Can't wait to find out what happens next week...what's in that box that has Eureka looking so upset??

I found somethings wrong in this episode. One is the part when the colonel press his leg against her like that, two is the part when Renten was about to kiss Erureka, and three is the part when the monster started to kill all those peoples, especially when the baby started to cry and the mother made it quit, it almost look like the baby died, and then when the mom look behind her and seen that big eye looking straight at her than killed her, that was scary.

Yeah, I'm kinda seeing a "Renton's love for Erueka saves everyone" ending now.
How did I miss that this doesn't take place on Earth? I know we don't have Trappar waves on Earth, but heck, this is the future.
And yeah, I totally thought "Here come the generic looking tube demons like in InuYasha."

For some reason I can't help but think that Dominic loves Anemone in his own way, maybe we will see more of their relationship later in the series. :p
I know for sure that Eureka and Renton are in love with each other.

Apparently it's Tristan MacAvery, who voiced Gendo Ikari in Evangelion; as if there were not enough parallels between the two shows. :D
