It came upon my attention recently that this (http://www.amazon.com/Adult-Swim-Comedy-Ron-Russo/dp/0977137716/102-7542485-5751341?ie=UTF8&s=books) exists. My first reaction was "why are the Oblongs on the cover?", followed quickly by "what exactly is this?".

I thought perhaps getting more info on the author would be helpful, so Amazon provided me this.
About the Author
Professor Russo offered the first ever, and probably still the only, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim college course in 2004; and has offered it most every semester since.

Which sparked my curiousity further! Some Google detectiving only provided mild answers and confirmation that this class does, in fact, exist (Kent State). Anyone know anything else about this bizarreness?

[Note: I'm not saying buy this, I have no idea if it's any good or not or even what it's about, I'm just curious]

This is the required text book for Adultswim 101.

Why does Kent State get to call itself Kent State if there's no state called Kent?

Judging from the book title, I'm guessing the course only covers the comedy. I probably wouldn't take it in that case. I'd hate to write an essay on 12 Ounce Mouse.

So do they teach people who have no animation experience at all to make 12oz Mouse?

I think of all the shows 12 Oz Mouse would be one of the easier ones to write an essay on.

Considering the plot? I doubt it.

I actually think that the fact it has an ongoing stylized plot to it would make it easier to write an essay on than, say, Squidbillies.

This argument is odd.

Although the plot is so difficult to understand in some parts and so surreal that it might be hard to write about because of that.

Frisky Dingo might fit though. It has an ongoing stylized plot but it's not so weird or subtle as 12OZMO.

It wouldn't be that hard to write an essay on 12 Oz. Mouse. You could compare and contrast it with action movies or something.

I'm debating if I should put this on my list of things to get for for Christmas.

This argument is odd.I think a Squidbillies essay would be kind of easy if you put in the thesis that the series is a grotesque caricature of the American Southern culture just as a series like The Addams Family was a similar caricature of New England culture.

Frisky Dingo's thesis would be that the series is a satirical study of the manipulation of the media and the business of media. I know I'm probably reading too much into it, but that's what I see.

12OzMo is strange, but a thesis could be pieced together from it. Umm . . . the series is a simplistic, psychotic look at society's ills through an impaired state of vision. Yeah, that'll fit.

I think you could make a documentary about 12oz mouse, feature length. You couldn't get me to watch 12ozmo if you payed me money, but I would pay money to get a glimpse behind the scenes of its creation, planning, animation, etc. etc. I want to see the people who made this, and how they made it desperatly. Maybe a combination of actors portraying historical events, like two drunken dudes staring out at a parking lot, one says to the other "A drunk mouse would be totally hilarious" to watch his friend replies, "Yea because once it is drunk it will be totally violent", something like that, that is what I want to see.

Though that probably is the origin of the show, it doesn't reflect the actual show at all.

According to Adult Swim though, it is something Matt came up with while he was drunk and almost all the drawings are doodles.
