Hey everyone,
Well, there seems to be nothing here to mention, so let's get straight to the question:
WB has given you permission to make a Batman animated DVD. Although they've given you some guidelines that must be followed:
-Must have a 'theme'.
-Only six episodes
-Only three extras, aside from trailers
What would your DVD be?

This one looks familiar....wasn't this the subject of a regular thread some time back?
Anyway, my choice would be the Blight episodes. I don't know if that works out to just six or not (probably not, oh well). But then again, I hate "themed" releases like this!
I changed my mind! My first DVD theme would be "Season One Vol. 1" and would have the first six episodes of the series on it! And for the extras, a commentary by Timm and Dini would be great, with others who were insturmental in the show, deleted scenes, and a full lenght documentary look behind the scenes of the making of the show, not one of those ten minute featurettes, but something that is more like a True Hollywood Story or an A&E Biography type documentary.
Could I have an easter egg? A hidden soundtrack the the series, tho I know it's already been released, but perhaps they could include more music on the DVD.

If I had the chance to release a DVD, I would probably choose to to have "Greatest Villains" as a theme. Ok, it's not that original, but it would feature all of my favorite villains from the original Batman: The Animated series. The feature episodes would be:
-Heart of Ice
-Two-Face Part One
-Two-Face Part Two
-Catwalk
-The Demon's Quest Part One
-The Demon's Quest Part Two
Wow, six episodes really aren't that many when four of them are two parters! My main reason for chosing these six is because they are the best episodes for each character (Though Second Chance was a spectacular Two-face episode!) and none of them have ever been released on VHS (PAL doesn't count!) or DVD.
I don't know much about the DVD format, but I would include a twenty minute biography on the development of each character, with interviews with the voice actors, lead animators and Dini and Timm.
Even though this would never happen, as an extra, I would get Shirley Walker to compose a five minute score for a "music video" sequence that would star the main villains and Batman and Robin. Nothing retarded, but a nice musical score. As another extra, I would include a few music tracks:
-Main Title
-The Cat who walks by Herself
-Mr. Freeze
-Dual (the Batman vs Ra's Al Ghul music)
-Talia
-Two-Face
-End title
So what do you DVD buyers think? Would you buy that one?

Interesting.........
1. Extras. Like Calhoun07 said, a commentary. Yeah I know it doesn't happen much on anime DVD releases - but they are excellent resources to learn what Timm and Dini intentions were. I don't think I'd push my luck further than a commentary. Perhaps a trailer for Batman Beyond - it needs all the support it can get!
2. Themes.... Yuk. I hate them. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be dull and go for Calhoun07 vol 1 series 1. Otherwise...A Joker and Harley themed DVD!
3. Episodes:
Christmas With The Joker
The Man Who Killed Batman
Joker's Wild
Harley and Ivy
Harlequinade
Harley's Holiday
Still prefer them in order.... humph.

1. Off Balance
2. The Demons Quest Pt. I
3. The Demons Quest Pt. II
4. Avitar
5. The Demon Reborn
6. Out of the Past
Theme: Well I hate theme's but if I had to pick one well it's obveous a Ra's Au Gual theme would be needed because he is the ultimate villian the man who cannot die.:D
Three Extra's
1. Mabye Some storyboards
2. Some Ra's Dead scripts episodes
3. Orginal consept Sketches of the Charecters
I got some more idea's but that is for another DVD.

Wow, that's a toughy... let's see...
1+2. Robin's Reckoning Part 1+2
3+4. Shadow of the Bat Parts 1+2
5. Sins of the Father
6. You Scratch My Back
Theme- The Bat family.
Extras: Getting to meet all the voice actors/actresses (A pic of their character in the background). They talk a bit about their role and view on the character, and do a line or two in the voice. We'd get to see them in a recording session. Definately get to hear/see some bloopers. I kinda agree with Disneyboy about the commentary thing. I mean hey, look at Movie Surfers on Disney, if they can do it why can't WB?... Trailers for a new NBAS movie focusing on Babs/Dick relationship and a new twist to Selina and Bruce (major interaction) and maybe Robin's (Tim's) first meeting of the illusive and alluring Catwoman... Going w/ calhound, I'd like to see the edited scenes. I'd also like to see a certain music video thing. It'd start out w/ the intro to TNB/SAs, show the main title, move into Brucie's theme (cool Bats action sequence and pics w/ family), move into Nightwing's theme (again, shots of fights and family), Batgirl's theme (ditto) and Robin's theme (etc). Then it'd conclude with the end title and credits. Oh, and there's one final catch. Tim, Barbara, and Dick would be the one's covering the documentary. It would be a semi reality semi cartton world type thing. So, there ya go!

Title: "Batman the Animated Series: The Early Episodes"
Id want the DVD to be like a guided tour through Batman's world. The DVD would open with the original BTAS intro.
The main menue would have a framed still from each episode with the title listed below, that you could click to play the ep. Above the screen-shots there'd be "PAUL DINI's INTRO"
If you click that, Paul Dini would introduce himself and give some backstory on the ep, setting it up, before it played.
The extra's would be: (if the Paul Dini thing counts as an extra, cut it.)
1. Since Mark Hammil is a Super Huge Bat Fan, I'd have him narrate an (hour long) behind the scenes special. Like a filmed version of the Batman Animated Book, with interviews of the cast
and crew.
2. The storyboards for the six episodes.
3. The first draft of the scripts for the six episodes.
The episode's I'd pick would be:
1. On Leather Wings
The first great Batman episode. Horror, mystery, suspense, action....
2. Pretty Poison.
Good self-contained episode that introduces Ivy and shows Bruce's realationship with, friend, Harvey Dent.
3 & 4. Two Face parts, one and two.
5. Vendetta
6. The Laughing Fish
Hopefully, the success of the DVD would mean a second.
Title: "The Best Of The Adventures of Batman and Robin."
Second DVD eps:
1 & 2. Robin's Reckoning 1 & 2
3. Fear of Victory
4. Night of the Ninja
5. If you're so smart why aren't you rich?
6. Bane
and the third DVD:
"The Best of The New Batman Adventures."
eps:
1. Cold Comfort
2. Growing Pains
3. Never Fear
4. Old Wounds
5. Over the Edge
6. Mad Love
I have to go now, I'm starting to drool. ~whipes slobbery mouth on his arm~
