View Full Version : Any chance Cartoon Network would be able to obtain Peter Pan And The Pirates?

I posted awhile back in the Disney forums whether or not Disney would air the show in their Jetix Block, but it's agreed that they would not.
The reason being that Disney already has their own Peter Pan. Any chance they would ever sell it to Cartoon Network. I'm asking, because I believe the show would appeal to the target demograph while having adult appeal.

No, I doubt Disney would sell a show that they own to a rival network. If they truly wanted to gain money from the series, they'd find some way to change it to where it was their Peter Pan in the series.

In addition to Disney's The Little Mermaid movies and television show, they also own Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid.
I believe the Saban/Fox Kids library is the most underutilized library in existance (at least with the Warner Bros./Hanna-Barbera library, even though they're not on television, they're putting them out on DVD and on the internet). There's no excuse why Bobby's World, Eek! The Cat, Mad Jack, Samurai Pizza Cats, Peter Pan and the Pirates, and many others are kept under lock and key in a room where they can't even get sunlight. Eisner bought Fox Kids for Disney purely for the real estate (read: channel space). Exactly how is ABC Family working out for them? The library (aside from Power Rangers, Digimon, and the Marvel titles they controlled until recently) has largely been ignored, which is a shame.
That said, any show from Saban/Fox Kids will NEVER hit a competing network, especially if they could air them themselves. If Cartoon Network did ask for a Peter Pan and the Pirates, Disney would ask themselves why CN wants the show and then wonder why they're not airing the series themselves. So, they'll refuse and keep the series off the air anyway.

If by some chance they DID obtain the rights, it'd air on Boomerang, anyway. Since less than 10% of the country has that network, it'd be a waste.

If CN were to somehow obtain the rights to Peter Pan & The Pirates, then it should either be on weekdays at 10:00pm or on Toonami at 10:30pm as a lead in to Adult Swim or simply just be a part of the Adult Swim block. Actually, I'd prefer it on Adult Swim every single day right now to replace one of Futurama's time slots.

I'm going to say a big No at this, Unless it's a Miazaki film, They won't sell any of their films to CN.
