View Full Version : Introducing... CN Video!

On the heels of Adult Swim Fix and Toonami Jetstream, and in the channel-battles (finally following Nickelodeon and Disney Channel), Cartoon Network, ahem, CN, has its own video streaming arena for your pleasure!

What actually will make it worthwhile for a lot of people here is that not only are some of the stalwart new shows up like 'Lazlo' and 'Foster's' and 'Gym Partner,' but there's some classics too! Right now, 'Courage,' 'Dexter's Lab,' and 'Powerpuff Girls' are there! (Yeah for "Dexter Dodgeball" as the first DL episode up!)

Go check it out now (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/app/index.html?applicationType=browser)! (Note: It's designed like Jetstream, so I assume the same rules apply... people with Firefox and/or use a Mac may not be able to access it. Gee... how come Nick and CN don't seem to have this problem?)

It's not designed like Jetstream, it IS Jetstream with a CN coating...

Its good stuff, that's for sure. Seeing the oldies is great; but I'm not sure I'm willing to give CN the brownie points since their on-air performance is still quite awful. Also, why wasn't there any hype leading up to this? You'd think CN would be promoting this as much as possible (a la Jetstream, which got a press release MONTHS before it even jumpstarted).

That's cool. I like that there is some classic Cartoon Cartoons. Hopefully they'll have some Looney Tunes or something.

Funny to see CN rip themselves off but hey why fix what isn't broken? Though they really ought to work towards getting it on Mac.

Nice selection of shows though.

Now all I need is for them to air Sheep in the Big City and Mike Lu & Og and I'll be happy. ;)

This is nice and all, but what about those with Firefox that don't want to bother with IE (like me), or on a Mac? Come on, get to work. :p I also believe that Cartoon Network needs to work on its on-air performance.

This is very good. I'll finally get to see the real first episode of Team Galaxy.

They say they'll be adding two new episodes a week on CN itself.

I really want Sheep also, but unfortunately as far as Sheep on CN Video goes, I believe the rights to Sheep reverted back to the studio that made it.

Now all that's left is for G4 to aquire Sheep in the Big City.

09-23-2006, 06:18 PM
It'd be a good show for Nicktoons Network.

That's odd though... the rights went back the creators now? Has that happened with any other CN show before?

Probably so. Some series are made in house at Cartoon Network studios, while others (such as Ed, Edd, and Eddy) are made elsewhere. I imagine the rights to Ed, Edd, and Eddy will also revert back some day once Cartoon Network stops renewing the contract.

It'd be a good show for Nicktoons Network.

But it's too smart for Nicktoons Network, That's why I want G4 to pick it up, They can breed life into anything that's smart, witty, funny, and underrated, Like Arrested Development.

Great news. With yet another site to stream cartoons, CN is now a few steps ahead of Disney and Nick.

No opening and endings for most shows is really disapointing.

Taylor Karras
09-24-2006, 02:12 AM
Well that's becuase they are individual 15 minute episodes split apart from it's 30 minute compainions.

Also It's good to see the Fix 2.0 being used for somthing else than Toonami Jetstream, Yes, I'm calling the video streaming system that both Toonami Jetstream and CN Video use Fix because Adult Swim first Introduced it with the Friday Night Fix, Also known as Fix 1.0.

But it's too smart for Nicktoons Network, That's why I want G4 to pick it up, They can breed life into anything that's smart, witty, funny, and underrated, Like Arrested Development. Why? So that they could take a series with not a whole lot of episodes and rerun it 8-10 times a day? Cuz that's how G4 rolls. It's funny how in that post you make it seem like G4 has a whole lot of intelligent shows. I mean, really, what's intelligent and sophisticated on their lineup besides AD, Braniac, Star Trek, and the occasional X-Play? The Man Show? No. Fastlane? Nope. Attack of the Show? Negative. Cheaters and Street Fury? Not. G4's not exactly bastion of intelligent programming.

I just wish that they didn't break up the shows by 4:30 cuts just to save on a little quality. Just do 11 minutes like AS and we'll all be happy.

What about Arrested Development, It's the smartest show G4 ever had.

Nope. Most Tech TV shows were even better since they almost had none of this "Hurrr I'm funny because I'm on the Internet Hurrr!" crap going on.

There was a reason it was cancelled by Fox.

It had poor ratings, Also you were probally not smart enough to understand Arrested Development.

It had poor ratings, Also you were probally not smart enough to understand Arrested Development.Arrested Development was a very intelligently written comedy, yes, and you need to be able to follow the continuous storylines to get all the running gags, but none of that means you need to be some super genius to get the show, nor does it mean that just because someone doesn't get it doesn't make them stupid.

And honestly, Arrested Development is the only intelligent show on G4, IMO. And I highly highly doubt G4 picked it up because it's so well written - they saw a geek fanbase for the show, which is what they thrive on, and bought it. Simple as that. Sheep doesn't have the same fanbase AD has, and as such I find it quite unlikely G4 would have any interest in it.

TheMecca
09-25-2006, 03:39 PM
He was referring to Cynic Beau.
And wow, Sheep's rights are back at Curious then? Considering they're making KND, I don't see the trouble.

PLEASE G4 DON'T PICK UP ANYTHING GOOD JUST DIE

I know 5-year-olds who are smarter than most adults. Don't tell me kids don't get the jokes, because it ain't true.

Word.

Word to the secound power=word2
(couldnt get it above)
Now on to topic.....
I guess that the networks will just get money from
online advertisements so they dont have to worry about
people who just watch their shows online which is what I do for
[adult swim] most of the time anyway or they just dont put an extensive
amount of programing on the sites (Toonami Jetstream The fix and now CN)
but I dont really think a company would go under because of this

but it was just a thought:shrug:

(which is problly wrong)
