Prepare to cry...becuase this is pathetic...
www.Animated-Movies.com reports:
Snow White 2 movie plot: The evil Queen's sister Noriss learns from her magical crystal ball that the only way to make Snow White and her family leave the castle would be to kidnap her friends the dwarfs. She goes to the mine asking the little men to help her find her way home, then pulls out 7 bags to kidnap each one of them. Only Dopey can escape from her claws by hiding behind rocks. Snow White, the Prince, and their 13-year old daughter Rose come to the rescue of the dwarfs with the help of Dopey...
Can it get any worse? Ugh...

Could life get any worse? We've lost Spongebob and Zim, and now we're being attacked by half-assed sequels.
There are some Dark days coming down the road.....

The day Dopey is used as the prime hero in a movie..is the day the world ends. So, what day is this movie going to be released? I have a lot of stuff I wana do before it all ends...

That was one of the worst plots for a sequel that I've ever heard. They're practically ruining every single classic movie they make with those sequels.

Pretty sad, isn't it. Not only that, but trailers for 101 Dalmations: The Animated Sequel have started popping up as well. They are really trying to milk every property for all they can. I shudder to think what's next....

Dopey almost did--he almost got the apprentice job in Fantasia's The Sorceror's Apprentice, but it went to Mickey instead.

They're not just "practically" doing that, that's exactly what they plan to do. Everyone should do what I do, and pretend the sequels are not related to the original movies but the product of some terrible dream. :P

What does Disney think they're doing? Snow White is a classic!! My mom always liked Snow White and she said she hoped they'd never make a sequel to it and she even said she didn't think they'd ever actually make one. I guess I kind of felt the same way, too, but all Disney cares about now is more money. I may actually rent it just to make fun of it. I did the same to Pocahontas II and the Lion King II....

PencilSharp's plot for Snow White III
(note the roman numerals, that just screams respectability!)
Currently in pre-pre-non-production at Disney Australia
After emerging triumphant against both the Evil Queen (Doriss) and her evil sister (Noriss), old Snowy decides she's had her fill with royalty. After chucking the magic ball into the magic mirror (and leaving a wicked 7-10 split in the process), SW leaves her 2.3 kids with her hubby and heads off to the New World to do a little Thelma & Louise with her old college buddy, Pocahontas (the two had studied together at Oxford...).
After a hilarious encounter between Doc and Flit, SW and Poc decide to do Africa, bumping into the entire Lion King cast (except Simba... too masculine for this flick) before picking Jane up at Tarzan's crib. Off they go to the Middle East via boat (bumping into you-know-who along the way) and convincing Jasmine that it's time to grab both the Magic Lamp and the Magic Carpet and her half of the checking account and hit the road.
After wasting the riches of the realm, SW realizes that she's still tired of royalty, bites a diseased pineapple, and falls into a deep coma. She is awakened by Michael Eisner's demands for a DtV Snow White 4, for which he is mauled by a maddened Magic Mirror who spontaneously moves into SW's Magic Compact.
And they lived happily ever after... which makes this whole diseased idea all right...

"I hope they don't do a sequel to Snow White, that would ruin the classic!" - Me, when I first heard about Cinderella 2.
Just making a sequel to this has got be the dumbest thing they've ever come up with. They need to leave classic stories alone because geez, these stories were around before them, if they were supposed to have sequel to them, they would. Walt Disney would probably be very ashamed of what is happening.
And I used to respect Roy Disney...

It's like the same plot again and again: the brother/sister/accomplice/whatever of the villain vanquished in the original comes to wreak havoc on the heroes...who are almost always with child. Oh my God: I just realized that this was used for "The Mummy Returns". I think I should lie down.

Out of all the Disney sequels, I find this one the most disrespectfulof them all. This is the movie that started it all, and now they're going to cheap it by making a poorly produced sequel that shouldn't have been greenlighted in the first place. Thanks, Disney.

The best thing to do is not acknowledge that they're official sequels. Gone With the Wind has a terrible sequel. But do many people know about it? No! I'm just waiting for time to steam-rollar over these terrible things and everyone will forget about them. :D

And to think, supposedly Disney-WALT Disney-once said he had no desire to make sequels out of any of his animated movies.
This is betrayal of the worst kind. Even if he didn't say it, it' something that should be respected-the man and his partners worked their damndest to make great animated masterpieces, and *THIS* is how you thank them?
This is the lowest of low.

This is the cinematic equivalent of strip-mining. If Disney was doing to the environment what they are doing to their own history and reputation, the government would have closed them down faster than you can say "Love Canal."

So when's Lefou going to go after Belle and the ex-Beast for revenge?
Wouldn't be surprised if Rose from SnW2 is really Rose Red... The Grimms did have a story on two sisters named Snow White and Rose Red. It sure sounds like Disney's trying to outdo Filmation's sequel to Snow White... Wonder if they can actually pull it off and make it worse.
Anyway, got some DTV info from the Disney channel on United Airlines audio...
Return to Neverland: Most of it was stuff mentioned in the AICN review, but here's the soundtrack listings.... "Overture", "Second Star to the Right" (Jonatha Brook), "I'll Try" (I'm guessing it's Jane's POV, sung by J. Brook) and a slight rewrite of "Do You Believe in Magic?" performed by BBMak.
Hunchback 2: The villain is a magician named Sa-rue-sh(dunno the spelling) who wants his assistant Madeleine to steal one of Notre Dame's bells. Quasi meets her while taking fellow bell-ringer (and the son of Esmeralda and Phoebus- the pic I saw looked girly with dad's hair), Zephyr, to the circus. In the end, Quasi has to learn that even he has to look over appearances.
Songs? An overture, "Le Jour D'Amour" (day of love, most likely sung by Clopin), "Ordinary Miracle" (Quasi on love), "I'd stick with you" (Quasi/Zephyr duet where Haley Joel Osment tries to be overly cute and prove he can't sing), "Fa La La La Fallen in Love" (the gargoyles singing about Quasi being in love as if it was something new), and "I'm gonna love you"(Madeleine's song)
Cinderella 2's soundtrack is going to be part of an album with other songs from Disney movies, musicals and DTVs concerning princesses. Four songs, all by a Brooke Allison. "Follow Your Heart", "The World is Looking Up to You", "It's what's inside that counts" and "Put it together:Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo"

I never liked disney sequals, besides Toy Story 2 (which I thought was better than the first). I don't think Disney should screw up their classics.
Joe Tully
01-24-2002, 08:37 PM
IMO Toy Story doesn't even count since it was done by Pixar. But yeah, that was done well. But that was an original story that could be easily added to and turned into a sequel. It's both difficult and dumb to try to add to a story that ended "she rode off with the prince and lived happily ever after."

When Disney itself makes a sequel to any of its movies, You can expect them to : a) Have crappy stories; b) Not be animated as well as its predecessor; c) Be released straight to video; d) Butcher a fine story into a pile of filth, and e) Suck overall.

I've got a copy of that story. There's just one dwarf there, an unpleasant little fellow the girls have to keep getting out of trouble--little bugger's beard gets tangled into everything, and they keep having to cut bits of it off. Not exactly grateful, he curses at them and calls them "hussies", even though they manage to keep him from drowning, unstick him from a tree, and save him from a hawk. You'd think they'd leave well enough alone, but nooooooo, fairy tale princesses are too bloody goodhearted to be practical. Then there's the whole decidedly bestial subplot with a talking bear that spends the winter with them (he calls himself their "lover", which also broaches incestuous menage a trois). He later kills the dwarf--who had bewitched him--with one blow of his paw and turns out to be a prince in disguise. Which goes to prove my whole point that fairy tales aren't for kids.
Addendum: there's a great miniseries called Rose Red on ABC this week, which I thought'd be Stephen King's take on the Grimm tale--it's not, though, it's about a haunted mansion. Still creepy, though. Part three is on Thursday.
Still, for my money, the best take on skewering "happily ever after" endings was Into the Woods with the delectable Bernadette Peters....

Geez! I find it funny that i just posted earlier mocking Disney's sequels (atlantis sequel thread) and mentioned Snow White in it. I can't believe they are doing this - why don't they actually focus on a sequel that people would actually buy, say a Gargoyles movie, Tarzan (their is way more than one Tarzan book) or more Atlantis movies. Some of their sequels were ok (like Lion King 2) but they are very far and few between. I'm still ticked at Disney for this! I now officially announce my compaign to become the new Disney head of it's animation department! Who's with me?

I read it along, long time ago at Dark Horizons, I'm sure. They did this story on animated Disney stories early last year and Tarzan 2 was featured with others like Mulan 2, Lion King 3, Peter Pan 2 (before it went threatrical), and just about every other Disney movie.

I'm still pushing for an accurate telling of Dante's Inferno. But I know The Mouse would muck it up--Robin Williams as Virgil...either J-Lo or Rosie Perez as Beatrice...and I shudder to think what the pit of feces in Malebolge would be adapted to.
Can't say I've read Juniper Tree--but I have a recording of "Frog Went A-Courting" that is vastly different from Burl Ives'. In this one a cat eats Miss Mousie and Uncle Rat during the wedding ceremony, and despondant Mr. Frog pulls a Brody into a lake. Then a duck swims by and eats his dead remains.... :D

here's my take on Disney's sequel mania.
----------
In California, during last year,
it seems like the creative got strung on beer.
They came up with sequels of very ill port,
and now Disney fans' patience is growing short.
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chim-cheree,
Who cares about the repute of Walt Disney?
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chim-cheroo,
certainly not execs,
just me and you.
But we're just old cartoon fans,
what can we do?
We'll protest and yell
Like a freed fighting slave,
we'll say that old Walt
is spinning in his grave.
We'll stick with originals,
all tried and true.
This dumb "Snow White" sequel,
all I say is Spew!
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chim-chero,
They'll market out the Hell,
Oh, where will we go?
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chiminy,
Chim-chim-cheray,
We're not done with Disney,
We will have our say...
These execs are so dumb,
will any of them pay-ay-ay?
------------
Hey, it may not win an Oscar, but it's how I feel.
Sincerely,
John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

There's something larger and more heinous at work here. Children have been read Snow White or at least heard of the tale for the better part of 100 years. Think what this new sequal will do to that legacy. Future generations will think that the sequal was the natural progression of the story, that it was meant to happen via the hand of the brothers Grimm. Everytime someone will read their child the story the sequal will ineviatably be brought up and question as to what is "wrong" with it and why there aren't elements of Snow White 2 will be raised. Talk about revisionist history all you like ,talk about how the Grimm brothers' work has been abridged, but I'm fine with the original Snow White, Cinderrella, and so on, I think it was the result of quality animation and dedication on the part of Walt Disney's staff. That kind of revision doesn't bother me, the story is intact. With direct to video sequals to story is broken, childhood imagination as to what would happen after the movie is broken. I remember as a kid playing with my friends and acting out animated chracters and what we'd thought they would do if we were them, not what one exec would think is profitable. It was fun, we used our imagination. I fear with these direct-to-video sequals children may lose that imaginative spark and have a sequal expected of everything. Then what will a new genration of filmmakers grow up with as their inspiration.

I agree with you. I am planning on going to the Peter Pan movie just for the cool shot of the pirate ship passing the WWII plans.
But the Snow White sequel sounds awful.
I think that Disney should do a Princess Movie or TV series. It's really popular with little girls and might give the writers more of a clean slate. But of course, there's no plan to do that. Or maybe they just don't want to spend the time developing the plot (or anything that resembles it).
BTW, there used to be this show on Nick Jr., I think it was "Grimms Fairy Tales". It showed the "Bearskin" story with rose red and snow white. I always wished that Disney would make a sequel or prequel with this story, but that would probably make too much sense to be profitable. :(
