I do believe this should be for Eureka 7's Runaway, not the movie Runaway. Anyway, I fully saw Renton running away occurring nearly 3 weeks ago. Whether they did it intentionally or not, the rest of Geckostate did a terrible injustice keeping him protected and not letting him know what's going on. Add to that the blame from Holland that's been happening, and Renton truly must feel all alone in this world. At least things look like they'll improve next week a bit.

I liked the episode a lot, especially the fact that we have finally been introduced to those 2 people in the OP, cause I have been wanting to know. From what it looks like they meet up with Renton in the next episode, which will of course through a lot of problems into the mix when they go into battle.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that the girl looked incredibly like Eureka and Anemone, especially the eyes.

Oh, and that one guy appearing out of nowhere was kind of weird...

Diana, so thats Rentons sisters name, eh? Seems like she is a problem of some sort.

Its sad, really. Little things are driving Renton and Eureka apart, its almost too much to bare because it reminds me so much of myself. I hope this string of bad timing, will pass, I hope that they get back to each other, that they really give each other another chance.

With all the stuff Renton has been going through recently, I was wondering when he was gonna pull an Amuro Ray on us and leave the ship. Here it is. We also FINALLY see those two people from the intro make an actual appearance, that's been bugging me ever since:sweat: . Next episode should be interesting.

I'm really surprised Renton didn't end up fat from eating all those chips. Then again, I guess when you're faced with a sitch like Renton, you'd probably drive yourself to stuffing your face yourself. :lol:

Also, the Beams debut, and their VA's are pretty nice. Some of you already know my feelings about Melissa Fahn, Ray's VA, and Patrick Sietz does a solid job as Charles, the Sonny to Ray's Cher.

Overall, a nice way to start my Eureka 7 viewing career. (I had been waiting for the Beams to appear to jump in.) 9/10.

Much like Section 9, the Gekko State is filled out with useless filler characters.

Nothing is ever done to develop these characters, they typically* only exist to be killed off en masse and cause great pain to the regular characters who the writers are too chicken to kill off.

*One compliment I can give GITS is that they flipped this pattern on it's head by resisting the urge to have a big bloodbath at Section 9.

I like the idea that the crew of the Gekko is such a diverse group and that members seem to pop out of nowhere now and then. It really gives a sense of the Gekkostate being a real community onto itself, although the focus is really on the core group of characters. I think the secondary characters do add a bit more depth to the background, however.

As far as Renten and Eureka, dang, that pulls at the heartstrings when I see her continually reach for him and he's too caught up in his own failings to notice...

I never thougth no male character would surpass gendo as the biggest jerk in anime but holland has prove me wrong. Not only has he lash out or blame ren for the 4 striaght ep but now he turn the kids againts ren too. He refuse to listen to what anyone say about his jerklike behavor towad ren. And now it seems like ren has run into the arms of a old emeny from hollands past. If Ren does turn againts holland, then who could blame him?

Actually it's the secondary characters that make the show work for me. If I were Renton, I'd have said "screw this" a long time ago. It was Tahoe and the black guy (can't remember his name) who seem to pay any attention to Rentons needs,,, even if they do it off handedly. I like how he just disappeared unnoticed,,, except by Tahoe. She's a bit of a flake, but has this "motherly instinct".

If they don't explain all the wackiness soon,,, scub, Eureka's flakyness, the nearvasch, I'm gonna need spoilers. :sweat:

That would be Matthew BTW (I remember him as the guy VAed by Kirk Thorton if that helps you remember who he is).

I guess this was an eventuality with how much Renton and Eureka were falling out that he wouldn't feel like he should even be around her and run away. And coupled by the fact he finally realizes just what kind of war they're in (when you're a kid it takes awhile for things to sink in really), the fact that Holland turned the kids against him and how he had big miscommunications with Eureka and coudln't even really concentrate on how she felt or how he could help, he's really messed up now. So much so I would of understood him diving out of the ship without a parachute (luckily he did... unless you hate Renton and want him to die or something). There were some good moments in here: everyone wandering through the story, Ray and Charles introduction (yeah the guys from the intro finally appear, so I guess that Ray wasn't Diane afterall like someone theorized awhile back), and the random old guy appearing. Talho also had some interesting development here, being the only one to really realize Renton's gone missing and all. Poor kid: whenever he comes back (I really doubt he's left the Gekko forever) he's probably going to be hearing it from her and Holland. That's gonna suck. Hopefully he makes the most out of his time with Ray and Charles doing... whatever it is they're going to be doing in the next ep.

Maybe this is me being as blind as Renton... but I too have, save for a couple situations, just identified that the Gekkostate is in a 'war' with the military. I mean, for the most part ('til recently), Renton's always been kinda happy-go-lucky when in battle with Eureka. Has that blinded him to the truth that much?

That alone proves that Renton truly is as much responsible for Eureka's situation as Holland is for bringing Renton aboard the Gekko in the first place.

Charles and Ray seem like interesting characters. I'd like to see what happens when they tangle with the distraught runaway next week.

It`s problay good that REN leave the gekko for a while to clear his head. Him and Eureks can used a little space too. And most of all he needs to get away from holland before he(as in REN) does something bad to him and make Eureks hate him. I`m sure I`m not the only one who notice the death glares REN give holland in the past ep`s.

Eureka is the character I don't understand at all. Renton carries his heart on his sleeve, by comparison.

Renton was just naive to the fact that this was a war and that the KLFs are piloted by humans.

Eureka was cured by the Voderak priest and the stuff the Old Lady gave Holland in the beginning of the series.

I'm going with she knows he killed since he did kill a few other pilots that earlier episode. It was just until now that Renton found out that he was killing people.

We will see more of Diane since we have only seen her from behind and she was in the dream in the Zone.

Charles and Ray are...important so watch out for them.

Dewey is against the Gekkostate and his mission is to create the Second Summer of Love. To find out what that means you have to wait.

Eureka is afraid of the feelings she has inside of her I would guess, maybe she thinks she doesn't deserve to be loved for what she has done in the past, also we do not know much about her do we? It could be anything, but she knew it was mistake immediatly, unlike in the past when she didn't realise what toll her actions were having.

Has he before? Most of the other times he's been with Eureka as pilot, and they did use his tactics (I believe) against the carrier. But has he actually destroyed a KLF before? I'm not sure.

It's easy to "not know" there are pilots. He watches the others like a game,,, when you fight them, it's the machine that's the target. When you don't see the blood, it's not real.

I believe if Renton returns,,, he has too for the story,,, it will be Tahoe that makes it work. But I could be wrong, I just like her character so much

Since the Nirvash won't work properly without him, he's been responsible for killing people all along. And there have been moments where he's directly taken the life of another.
