The 80s cartoon, "The Racoons", starts weekdays in September... Check it out! ;)
I can't wait to see it again, I used to watch it on the BBC as a kid
Plus the cartoon of the early 90s, Tiny Toon Adventures will be showing up with The Racoons.

Between Tiny Toon and this, at least it's one thing Tragic Tuner is doing right.

Does ANYONE know when TTA and Racoons intend to air? I keep looking for listings and coming to dead ends ;_;

I knew they'd get TTA eventually, but The Raccoons was a pleasant surprise! This almost makes up for that piece of rubbish CNUK is getting - My Gym Partner's a Monkey.

The Racoons? I think I just about remember this cartoon. I'de completely forgotten it even existed. Will be strange seeing it again. I don't remember any episodes so I can't say if i'm excited about it or not, but I'll definitely check it out again though.
Tiny Toons, on the other hand, is definitely something I'm looking forward to seeing. I havn't seen this show since I was about 4 and I used to love it so it'll be great seeing it again. :D

Lucky! It would be great if "The Raccoons" could come to Boomerang USA in the near future as well. Maybe someday it will? But I've got the two DVD boxsets.

Watched both today;
Racoons airs at 3:30pm weekdays
Tiny Toons airs at 5:30pm weekdays
I find it interesting that the first Racoons episode was of a higher quality than Tiny Toons first episode XD *geek*

I personally find that Tiny Toons is one of those show that didn't age well. The kind you remember as better than it truly is.

My god, CBC or Teletoon or YTV or ANYBODY here in Canada really needs to get off their asses and air the Raccoons again in its home country. It's my favourite cartoon!
I admit that the writing was at times overly preachy, but the series had very consistent and likeable characters, good animation for the time, beautiful background paintings, clever and well-placed use of stock footage. In the audio department, it was equally impressive-- the show had a wonderful voice cast, some cool sound effects I haven't heard anywhere else, and incredible music.
The songs were great, but I like the background music even more. The instrumental opening theme always gets me teary-eyed and nostalgic.
I wish they'd released some of the BGM on CD or vinyl back in the day (in France maybe, where they released alot of that sort of thing)... I emailed the composer a few months ago, and he said he still had many of the BGM tracks on DAT tapes, but didn't have the right to let the public hear them.

Quick question, I could be wrong, but the picture quality looks slightly worse than when it aired on the BBC years ago, anyone agree with me on this?

One other thing, are Boomerang showing the series in order?, or in a random order

Production Order is normally the way that the Turner kids channels go, Boomerang being no different.

Now this is interesting, I found this on the show's wikipedia entry...
"Unfortunatly, the closing theme isn't heard on showings on Boomerang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomerang_%28UK%29) in the UK, as they close every episode with the same end credit sequence, which is from an early episode of the show and is absent of Lougheed's vocals and many of the lyrics (containing just the chorus), angering many UK fans of the series."
I think I remember them showing an episode with the vocals in the closing theme, but I think that was a later episode they showed, I could be wrong though

Well, from what I've heard, apparently they're always showing the credits from the first season episode, "A Night to Remember". In the first season, it's true that they didn't feature any verses in the credits sequence-- they had the intro (which if one isn't listening closely, sounds like the verses without the vocals) and then cut to the chorus, and then go to the extended chorus at the end of the song.
If they were playing it on any channels here, I wouldn't care at all which credits they used, so long as I could watch the show!

I think I can agree with you on that
Quick question though, how come they got rid of Dan The Forest Ranger and the 2 kids so early on in the series, just wondering

The main reason is that they were just really boring characters, and they weren't needed in the series; In the first special, they were major characters, but since then they had been mostly used as a framing device. The creators of the show were sharp enough to realize this pretty quickly, and so they cut the human characters out after Season 1.

Is it me or did the pilot for The Racoons totally rip off a Disney short?

Having not seen the pilot (I started watching when they aired the last episode of season 1), I can't say

When you say pilot, are you referring to the special "The Christmas Raccoons"?
I'm curious to see what Disney short you're talking about. I think the main concept of the special might be pretty similar, but I doubt it's a direct, intentional ripoff. Still, what short do you mean? My guess would be a Chip and Dale one, right?

That will be it, it's probably me though, I've got the short on DVD, the plot is more comedy of errors and less a drama made out of it, but the same concept is there.
There were three pilots/specials for The Raccoons, so I know it's easy to get confused.

Why would they change it?? Personally, I prefer the Lougheed version.

On todays episode they showed the version with Lougheed's singing in it (they only show it when they don't show that "coming up next" bit once the end credits start)
