I just got back from the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, where for their thirteenth animation festival week, they exhibited new Aqua Teen Hunger Force clips, along with some clips from the movie (yes, it exists). I got there late (due to awful traffic), so I don't have any spoilers about the show, since when I got in, it was the last few seconds of the movie clip.
As I got in, their Q&A was starting up. The questions weren't quite as insightful as the last time I was there for Tom Goes to the Mayor, but there were a few interesting ones.
-When asked "Why New Jersey?", Jay Edwards, the editor and producer of ATHF said "Because it's funny."
-When asked "How can one get into the voice acting business?", Dana Snyder, suggested http://www.voicebank.net and then started talking about his personal hero, Jim Cummings, who apparently is incredibly popular in the voice acting business, and gets tons of jobs every day, but according to Dana, he gets wasted everyday by 1 PM, so no one hires him past 1 PM.
-When asked about Doctor Weird, they said he was stolen from one of the older cartoons from the 1960s or so (I forgot the name of it, might come to me later.). They were asked where he went, and though Edwards didn't quite answer that, he kind of insinuated that they dropped him due to it being too difficult to write for him, since when writing for him they'd have to write a really funny, yet 10 second long joke.
-When asked what Frylock's jewel thingy is on the back of him, they said it'd be explained in the movie, along with a bunch of other questions about the show, like the odd opening and closing credits.
-I might add more here later, I kind of am blanking out on what was asked right now.
The afterparty was the real highlight of the trip. Both Jay and Dana (Mastershake) were hanging out and talking to the people in the planetarium (Tim & Eric also did this) at the Franklin Institute, while signing stuff. Some people, who used their heads, and planned ahead brought their ATHF DVDs for autographs. Sadly, I didn't even think of doing that, so I just got my programs signed. I'm quite jealous now though, that idea was great... I want signed ATHF DVDs too!
Jay Edwards was very nice, and he talked about how they did Space Ghost: Coast to Coast interviews, and how he would edit them.
Dana Snyder was extremely nice. After waiting about an hour in line to get his autograph, he interviewed me via the microphone so everyone could see it, played and teased my three year old sister, and was very gracious that I came to see the show.
Also, it's probably worth noting that Dana Snyder said the movie will be out February-ish. From the little I saw of it (like 30 seconds), it looked extremely funny.
