After more than 6 years using the internet, I am still amazed by the span of information available there.(so quickly) ..A few minutes ago, I was interested in some very obscure historical data from 2002...It was there..(and that piece, I am sure is accurate)
..Sadly, so much on the net, is inaccurate..We have no way of knowing...This is an amazing source of information, fun, and amusement..But it is dangerous too..misinformation, lies, cons and fraud. (and some of us, find it hard to get off the net)
..From Abacus....to Zygote...it is all there..At the touch of some keys..
..Instant information? ...Sometimes I am not sure it is all that good..?
..But does it matter..It is what it is..I guess, we need to be carefull...Questioning, inquireing, skeptical.and of course, amazed..

I have stopped questioning the Internet and how good/bad it is long time ago. I just accept that the information is there, all kinds of it, from all kinds of sources, true and false ones. CNN = true, Weekly World News = false (but entertaining non the less). Its just that simple. Then there is of course a different kind of truths. Pharmaceutical site = truth (with lots of spin for $$$), FDA site = true. There are pleanty of trusted sites that you can get real info from without being misled by inacurate and false info.

For what I lookup, chemistry, history, earth science generailia (making up words), I don't have to worry much about false info. I don't bother with money stuff. I've noticed searches getting easier, fewer hits of "buy here" no matter the key word. Image searches are still limited, you have to dig deeper than Google. I'm also considering a campaign of "Try Google" is not an answer to a request for image info" :p

It was also supposed to bring people together with the free exchange of ideas. I wasn't very impressed with that until I started spending time in forums and finding real people. Still haven't been able to "cross borders" very well, but have managed a little.
