The scariest villian in cartoons

Hi, First post here. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on something that's been bugging me a couple of days now. Back in my early youth (and that's been quite some time ago) I recall a villian in a B&W cartoon (I believe a Merrie Melodies) that gave me nightmares back then. He could have been in a Porky Pig cartoon or a Buddy or a Bosko. I checked the Bosko listings here and didn't see him. He was a tall ominous sucker. He wore a large, black, broad brimed hat and a long, black, coat that may have buttoned up the front. He had a nose that looked like a sausage. I'm sorry I can't recall anymore about him or the cartoon nor the plot of the cartoon. I was hoping someone may recall this character, what he was on and a name if he had one. Might save me from nightmares down the road.:brain: :narf:
