The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata

Yup. That's the title. The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata . It'll focus on how Timon and Pumbaa got togethor in the first place. Wasn't this already a show? It's unclear if the third (and hopefully final) movie will be released Christmas 2002 or 2003. Hopefully neither.

Oh well, Disney just can't give this kind of stuff a break, can they? The Lion King is my favortie Disney movie, however, and I liked the sequel for it (although I doubt anyone else did), so if it does happen, I'd probably at least check it out.

They're probably gonna stop with this movie. I have a feeling they want to make it a trilogy like they did with Aladdin...although they really don't need to. Too bad Timon and Pumbaa really aren't two of my favorite characters...

Lion King 2 could've been better if they didn't edit the ending and change the script. I really enjoyed the Lion King and can't wait for it's November 2003 DVD release (it's being pushed ahead).

While I thought Lion King was an original take on Hamlet (Accusations of plagiarising Kimba notwithstanding), the second one just blatantly screamed "Romeo and Juliet!" too loudly for my liking.

And Timon and Pumbaa are the comic relief sidekicks, not the stars. Sheesh. :P

Honestly, The Aladdin trilogy is the only Disney animated sequal-schtick that ever worked. Yeah, I liked Return of Jafar. And King of Thieves was great! :p

I liked King of Thieves, but not Return of Jafar at all. Although it was a good jumping-off point for the animated series, which I really liked.

The Lion King was really good and really well thought out. The Lion King 2 was a little too "kiddy" than the Lion King was. Timon and Pumba already were stars, on their own TV show, making a Lion King prequel where it focues on Timon and Pumba isn't right, since it's the Lion King series, it should be when Mufasa was when he was Simba's age. That would be a really good seller I think, especially if they thought it out well enough.

The Timon and Pumbaa TV series already did an episode about how the characters got together. Timon was banished from his meerkat colony and ran into Pumbaa as he was about to be eaten by the three hyenas. I'm sick and tired of Disney sequels.

Argh. I'll level with you all, I got a huge kick out of the Timon and Pumbaa series, but this is a bit too much. They should just make a Timon and Pumbaa D2V and be done with it, rather than keep draging the name through the dank sewer of kiddification. Oh, the stink of condescention! The glop of cliched plots, that lodges in the folds of your ears and refuses to get out, no matter how you scrub with the brush of original thought! The...

Contrary to what some people think, The Lion King was definitely NOT based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. There were similarities, but it was evident during the development of the movie's script (with the help of Roger Allers, if I'm not mistaken) that the finished product was the result of many rewrites from an original idea that had nothing to do with Hamlet.

My favorite characters from The Lion King were Timon and Pumbaa. I have a Timon doll sitting on my shelf at school. I watched their tv series every morning and loved it.

After that little ramble, I will be, despite my better judgement, be buying this flick. Once I find out when it'll be out, it'll be time to preorder that sucker.

And hey, if I don't like it, I can always wrap it up and give it away as a Christmas gift or something.

It's pretty obvious the Lion King wasn't based directly on Shakespeare, but the end result is so similar to key elements of the plot, I think it's a nice execution of it (Indirectly, whatever).

Now Lion King 2 on the other hand...

...was just like every other Disney DTV sequel. The main character from the first movie has a kid and that kid either is unhappy with their life or repeats the mistake of their parent. Every Disney DTV sequel is just like that. The main character from the original is never the star, it's always the new kid character. Every new DTV stars a kid, as if Disney thinks all kids wanna watch are kid characters. Kid, kid, kid!!! You think I've said "kid" enough? Oh, nutbunnies!!

To be fair, Aladdin had nothing to do with young kids, of which I am really grateful for. But then again, those sequels were made before this "main character's young kid" fad started. I hate that. It really kiddifies it.

Wasn't the darn Timon & Pumbaa series enough for 'em?! No one *CARES* to see a movie about something that has already been shown in the series (no matter how uncharacteristic to the movie's tone it is), the second part is enough, there is no point for a third, especially if it's not even based off the whole cast.


*breathes in* These past few months have just been murder to us Disney fans, hasn't it? With Cinderella 2, Hunchback of Notre Damme 2 (saw a brief glimpse of the trailer a while ago...good LORD, it sucked!), Dumbo 2, etc.......if Walt ain't rollin' in his grave, he should be!

Oh, yeah I think I remember seeing that...was that the show where they had a live-action Belle reading stories to kids with some puppet side-kicks or something... :confused:

The only animated Beauty and the Beast movies I've seen are the original one and the Christmas one. I hope to see the redone original movie in the Imax theater sometime soon...that looks like it could be good...

AUGH! NOT THE Belle-meets-Mr. Rogers Live-action (with cartoons) slag! The only thing that even REMOTELY connected that thing with the movie was Belle and the little cottage she lived in. Not even the puppet characters were relevant to the movie (A cat and two little worms? Erm, NO.)

The ending of Lion King 2 was changed. The villianess was supposed to commit suicide and let go. There were different angles and sequences animated. The current version is all edited, choppy, and features new animation. Wann aknow why the scene with the villianess falling into the wate rlooks so weird? Becuase it was animated at the last minute. Disney wanted a more brighter ending to the movie, so they had to go back to the drawing and ruin...er...fix the ending.
