Last night I checked out some classic Billy and Mandy, and saw CN has completely shrunk down the credits for each show just like Nickelodeon does. When did they start doing that, and what's up with that?

I'm not 100% sure but I do know that they have been doing that to Fosters too.

They've been doing it since April.

April 3, 2006 - The Now/Then bumps changed, Nikki the announcer girl gone, and the new split-screen credits took place (a momth later, the blue space on the left-hand side was used to indicate what's next).

I think I remember now, they changed a lot of stuff during the spring break thing.

At times, they surprisingly still show the normal credits during weeknight (Mon-Thurs) -- but that's not very common.

Me too, Why don't they put it on the left side instead of putting it on the bottom, It makes much more sence.

I liked Cartoon Network a lot better when the bumps were blue and had anvils and grand pianos that said "coming up next" on them.
toonheads for the win, lolol

toonheads for the win, lololAw, I miss those too. I also remember that they were blue during the evening hours, yellow during morning hours, and green in the afternoon.

I remember in a CN coming up next bumper , it showed the CN logo with angel wings after an anvil had fallen on it.

Yeah, I remember that. (I got Cartoon Network back in 2002, so I probably missed a lot of things.)

Before that, if I remember correctly, the bumpers were like tidbits of the cartoon inserted in front of multi-colored checkered backgrounds.

These are still my favorite. They never managed to top them. I hate the split screen ''up next'' bumpers, they use them in Europe too. Sometimes ,usually after cartoon shorts (Looney Tunes,T&J) they use the traffic light with the head of the upcoming cartoon character. Here is a screenshot.

In Spain they use a billboard with the cartoon on it.I like these the best.

Wierd.
In Japan, they show a traffic sign to show what comes on next.
I'd figure it would be the same in the other countries.

Someone should get a video of that, because I've been looking for it. If I'm not mistaken, Cartoon Network in the United States did this between last summer and fall. That was better than what we have now.

To many popups during the show now. I guess they must have started sooner or later cause miguzi NEVER showed the ending for shows without spliting it. Toonami started awhile ago and now regular CN. I guess it was gonna happen.

They finally have a newly dubbed version of the Cartoon Cartoon Show's opening. Don't get me started on it (even though it's only two words).

I really hate that whenever they don't shrink the credits, they have to have that guy (Nikki's better) talking over the extra scene at the redits.

Well, I'm glad that they still show a series's normal credits, which Nickelodeon does not (or at least, they do the typed-up credits more often). I usually mute or tune out, when I have to put up with the male announcer. He's gotten better in some areas, but when I heard him say "Cartoon Cartoon" for the first time, it scared the heck out of me, and it sounded too loud and forced (Nikki never did that, and neither did any of the selected CC characters that did the older CC spots).
Funny, last month (this was well after the changes took place), they showed the previous now/then nightly bump with Monroe doing the announcing of what's next (it was probably an accident, but it was nice to see again).

Her "I'm trying to make it sound like I have a sexy voice but I really don't" voice got on my nerves. Could she have been Denny Siegel posing as one "Nikki" or something?

Who?
I respect your view on the female announcer, but I disagree with how you described her voice. She was trying to be the best announcer she could be, and I thought it was a nice fit for the network. Same goes with the male announce (as far as trying to be a good announcer).

Over here in the UK, we use that big screen TV thing to show the Next/Later stuff. Pretty much what you are talking about, Josie. And not done before the shows. Thus me being jealous. Very Jealous.

I know when I was in Mexico, they had this for their CN (of course, they had this in the US, too). I don't have a video version of this one.
Jeez...forgot we used to have those.
