The ending for this episode was really sweet. At least June & Marcus were able to dance together. I didn't know that Dennis had a crush on Jodie. And it was really funny when Steve said he wanted to return to being the King of Dreams, Monroe tells him that he could have just asked! :D

Well, with a lot of screentime with June's friends as themselves and little Ray Ray, I automatically liked the ep. :D
Besides those, I really enjoyed this one. "Evil Jody" was really cute and silly, and we had a lot of nice character moments, especially June/Marcus and Ophelia/Roger (though I have some trouble seeing that pairing).
It's good to see JL starting to have continuity, too, with the return of Steven and refs to previous episodes. Whether or not Judd and the staff have been seeing the criticisms, I don't know, but I dare say S2 improved by June-esque leaps and bounds over S1.

We all knew it was going to happen sooner or later, Ophelia and Roger's obvious love hate relationship has finally been made canon. Honestly I reall don't know how I feel about this, apart of me thinks it is interesting and can flesh out their characters more. While the other side of me is dreading the almost inevitable shippers that are likely to be sprung from this. Although you all have to admit when he was swinging Ophelia around the dance floor Roger had style.

Lot of continuity here. Steven teams up with the goons from "The World according to LARP" (I don't wanna go to Fresno). It was quite a nice episode.
As for the shippers springing up from this, I hate to say it, but most of the couplings at the end are pretty darn obvious. I'd rate Ophelia and Roger as the most believable coupling. Dennis and Jodi...sorta came out of left field.
Really enjoyed the episode, and it was nice how well they balanced the monster invasion with the humanly interactions. Steven barely got 3 words off before June snapped his staff in half.
I'm pretty sure that wraps up season 2 nice and neat. Hopefully this awesome episode as well as the episode prior (Dog Show Afternoon) give some much needed viewership as the show heads into reruns before the hopeful third season.

I have to agree that Season Two is an improvement over the show's debut season, and let's hope it gets even better for the third season. The biggest strength for this one would be character moments. To me, it's obvious that Ophelia does like Roger, even though she doesn't really admit it. As for Dennis and Jodi, I was not expecting that at all. June and Marcus -- it was great to see the two dance at the end of the episode.

Two oddball things to note to start off. First, I'm all for shows that don't make fashion such an issue, but... ugh, June looks like her grandma dressed her (no offense to Ah-mah). Second, I've seen some horrible dancing animation before, but this takes the cake! Unless it was purposefully supposed to bad, but there's really no way to know that for sure.
As for the episode itself, there were some pretty funny moments. Roger giving Ophelia that gigantic corset, Jody doing everything possible to turn off Marcus, Melissa being all over Marcus... hilarious stuff.
Relationships... where did Dennis' love for Jody come from? Strange. Ophelia and Roger... real or dreamy? And June and Marcus finally seeing eye-to-eye? Always knew June's 'job' was costing her a chance at a relationship, and it also explains why Marcus has made very few appearances. Fewer than expected for a crush, anyway.
It was weird seeing Sandman and those trolls back, as well as Juniper kicking their butts rather hastily, and rather often.
The episode in general was awkward in parts, funny in others. 7 out of 10 for "Dream Date."

I've missed a few episodes, so pardon me for not knowing this. Who is Mrs. Ramirez? I think that's what they called her. She was the adult in the house where the kids were gathering before the dance. Is she the mother of one of the characters?

She's Ophelia's mother, as revealed in the ep "There's No Mitzvah Like Bat Mitzvah". It was further revealed in that ep that they're Hispanic, and that Ophelia can speak Spanish.
A punk Hispanic? Somehow it reminds me of Juan Epstein on Welcome Back, Kotter--a Puerto Rican Jew. :)

Kodra That's where they were from, couldn't place the trolls.:anime:
This was a great episode. very funny, especially Jodie, didn't know she had it in her :D. Great fun her being offered breath mints,,, by EVeryone:D
Nice to see Mrs. Ramirez again but I missed Ophelia saying "Mummy, please :o" :D
Roger giving her the dip was tops:D
Two oddball things to note to start off. First, I'm all for shows that don't make fashion such an issue, but... ugh, June looks like her grandma dressed her (no offense to Ah-mah). Especially Junes, that green was awful. I was expecting something really cute. Second, I've seen some horrible dancing animation before, but this takes the cake! Unless it was purposefully supposed to bad, but there's really no way to know that for sure.
Well they are 11
Relationships... where did Dennis' love for Jody come from? Just how much older is Dennis? i'm guessing not over 13. All he wanted was a dance so it isn't too creepy. and it was cute how Jodie boosted his ego about his dancing.:D
It was weird seeing Sandman and those trolls back, as well as Juniper kicking their butts rather hastily, and rather often. I liked that part, just take care o' binis and back to the dance only to have to turn around and do it again :anime: Steven is sO full of himself

Dennis is 14. However, I don't think there's ever been confirmation on the friends exact age. I presumed they were 11 but they could be 10 or 12 as well.
Also, it is always important to realize that Juniper is 11. It's not common place as 11 year olds to dance close to your partner or even hold them by the waist. Roger was the oddball in the end dance scene, but again, that makes sense because Roger is an oddball.

If I may interject, I should say from my experiences as a member of the Daria fan community how rampant 'shipperism can lead to deep, debilitating divisions within a fan community.
During Season One of the show, everyone was literally on the bandwagon that Daria and Trent should be a couple. But as Season Two wore on, there arose a group of people called Anti-'Shippers who thought that they shouldn't be a couple. Things took a very nasty turn during Seasons Three and Four when the whole D/T thing fell apart due to the events of the eps "Lane Miserables" and "Jane's Addition", when Tom was introduced as Jane's boyfriend. Then came Season Four where Daria really hated Jane and Tom, then came the events of "I Loathe a Parade", "Fire!" and "Dye! Dye! My Darling", where Jane and Tom broke up and Daria began going steady with Tom, which culminated with the events of the movie Is It Fall Yet? Things got really ugly within the fan community where each group tore at the others' throats. Then of course there was Season Five, which was largely devoted to Daria and Tom, and the events of the final movie Is It College Yet?, where Daria and Tom broke up.
I can tell you to this day there are still some rabid 'Shippers in the Daria fan community who feel that Daria and Trent will rise again just like they think the South will rise again, and there's still a lot of heated arguments over these and other match-ups and slashes.
I know it's been four years since Daria ended its run, but I don't want to see the same divisions tearing apart the LTJL fan community. Let's not wind up being divided into smaller groups who are sniping over if June and Marcus are ment to be together forever or if it's going to wind up being a futile effort like Luann's trying to win Aaron Hill over from Tiffany wound up being after Aaron Hill moved to Hawaii (though the idea of Melissa acting as a romantic foil to June in regard to Marcus like Tiffany was to Luann's efforts to win Aaron Hill does have some appealing intrigue).
Let us have peace in our time, people. :D

I finally got around to watching this episode, and I must say that it was really cute. Just a few thoughts:
June's dress was ugly
Don't Ray Ray and Monroe clean up nicely?
Roger has some moves! Ophelia better watch out! :D
It was very sad the way June missed the entire dance. At least she got to talk to Marcus in the end.

As someone who's trying to foster a June community, I doubt there will be a problem with shipping wars. I prefer Marcus/June myself, and another good friend of mine happens to be June/Jodi. There's a bunch of other relationships I like in this show as well, like Ray Ray/Ashley and Roger/Ophelia.
I say I doubt we'll have problems because the armies of fans don't exist for this show as far as I've seen. It's a bit sad, because I really do like this show and I really think it could foster a healthy fandom but most of the time I just see people trying to call it a rip off of one of a billion different shows.
But I'll keep your words in mind DocForbin, and always lead to open discourse between ships :)
