GASP! Kikyo's ALIVE!?Well see I didn't see that coming at all. Kikyo. Alive. Geez what next, Naraku actually doing something on the show. Both a bunch of BS.

You know, Sango should really stay out of the big love triangle. It's not like InuYasha & Kikyo broke up willingly or anything.

I gotta say, this arc has had some really nice shots and animation to it.

I would've called this the most predictable episode ever, but then, that wouldn't be fair to the other 70/80+ episodes. My goodness, I hate being reminded why I dislike these types of episodes: Kagome gets drepressed, keeps thinking about Kikyo for the whole episode, the other three in the group drink hatorade and talk amongst themselves about how much of a jerk Inuyasha, Inuyasha runs all over the place etc etc. Eh, I'm hoping something will actually happen this time, but...... eh.

Oh noz! Kikyou is alive? Never would've guessed. I enjoy the ending theme.. some decent animation. Meh. Kikyo needs to die for real, as in fade into nonexistance. :/

A pretty average episode.

It's not surprising that Kikyou is still around. They would never get rid of a crucial character like that so easy.

I really hate when Sango, Miroku, and Shippo put their two cents in on the Inuyasha/Kikyou/Kagome triangle. I understand Kagome's their friend, they want to be supportive and all, but they always take on side on things (without giving Inuyasha the benefit of the doubt), even when she's being childish and wrong. No one ever calls her out on her crap and that annoys me.

Bring on the Inuyasha/Kikyou/Kagome angst for next week.

The show would do wonders if Kikyo died for real and Naraku was killed off. God, I'm getting so tired of Naraku disappearing for X number of episodes and then when he reappears, he does nothing. Except sit around and talk to himself. That and send poisonous bees everytime Miroku does his Wind Tunnel. Even Slade in Teen Titans and Shredder in 2003 TMNT were eventually killed and those are American cartoons.

Perhaps... but when one of the characters in the show starts getting irritated that nothing's happening, I think there's a problem.

It's not so much the vitality of Naraku that's a problem — it's the fact that the conflict has not been altered in the slightest since Kohaku was reintroduced. As a substitute for conflict resolution and alteration, we have received power proliferation — a cheap replacement that does nothing to satisfy. Naraku is powerful? Inuyasha gains a new, even more powerful attack. So Naraku gets even more powerful. Inuyasha can break barriers? Naraku gets an even more powerful barrier. Inuyasha gets the backlash wave? Naraku can make spears fly out his butt.

But even if Kikiyou died at this point, it wouldn't make any difference. When was the last time any of the characters looked the least bit like they were going to change? No... with all the crap that Kikiyou has done to Inuyasha, and all the times that she has apparently "died" so far, Inuyasha has remained stagnant. All that would be accomplished in killing her off now would be lowering the characters that wander aimlessly amid dull internal monologues while standing stalwart against growth by one.

Hmm... you could make a nice existentialist play out of this story. "Waiting for Inuyasha."

I think when Rumiko Takahashi dies, Naraku will still be alive. The duller they are the longer they live. Do they ever bother explaining why Naraku wants to be more powerful.. or what he intends to do with that power? He just doesn't seem very threatening, even if he did have the Sacred Jewel he'd probably just sit around with it all day.

The thing with Naraku is that, despite all his power-ups, at heart he's still just Onigumo the bandit, a common criminal, incredibly selfish, with very limited ambitions -- feed, fight, fornicate. He generally just reacts to whatever's in front of him. While he can lay some intricate short-term plots to accomplish an immediate goal, he has no real long-term planning ability and no ultimate goal. He's obsessed with Kikyou and no matter what he does he just can't get past that.

Naraku's like a street crook who upgrades his weapon from a cheap revolver to a submachine gun, but still uses it to knock off convenience stores. (^_*)

You know, when Naraku was first introduced, I really thought he would only last 20 to 30 episodes. I mean, I can't believe they were able to keep him as the main villain for this long. I mean, he's just not that interesting.

You know, I think you may be right about Naraku out living Takahashi...
Naraku is not that dull, in my opinion, especially when you understand him. If Naraku were to die, then the story would be pretty much over. Naraku controls the fates of many characters and such-- he is far too important to the story. And, that is not very hard to realize, either.

He says that he wants the Shikon No Tama so that he can become a full Demon-- because he is a half Demon and wishes for more power. However, you are correct again; no one knows how Naraku plans on living his life once he becomes a Demon ( not that his wish will come true anyway, but still...).

He fights a lot more now than he did during seasons 1-3, so he does not sit around *that much* anymore. Many fans and characters tend to underestimate him a lot, but he is very, very powerful, which is another big reason why he is not dead yet...There are simply some things that he can do that other characters cannot.

And as for his so-called " obsession " with Kikyou, I am certain that he would not even think about her if she did not threaten, interfere and compete with him so often ( she has every right to hate him and such)...Kikyou seems to be one of the few characters who constantly tries to taunt him and get up in his face a lot, and it is not like he fears her or anything like that ( surprisde and amazed are very different from fear ) -- judging by how he acts around her. Kind of my opinion.

Peace.
