God rest the souls of our troops as we remember this monumental day in history. All war is a tragedy, and this equally tragic day put an end to what is considered one of the most devastating wars of all time.
God bless America and our war veterans.

Thank God for all those who will risk all to stand opposed to evil.
This is a favorite day to remember but forgot this year. Thanks Oldtoonguy

*Moment of silence*
I haven't forgotten. I always watch either "The Longest Day" or "Saving Private Ryan" on June 6, and this year was no exception.
Likewise, I always watch "Tora! Tora! Tora!" on December 7. So, I still remember that generation for sure.
"The first 24 hours of the invasion will be the most decisive. For the Allies as well as Germany, it will be the longest day". (not a Hollywood invention, Rommel actually did say that).

Remember the Soldiers of Normandy,
Men who fought for freedom,
Remember the veterans who survived,
Honor those who paid with their life,
To end tyranny and evil.
Thanks Soldiers of Normandy.

God bless those soldiers. This is a good reason for me wanting to become a historian - to document and pay tribute to those who have fought for our country.

More people were in D-Day than just Americans.
But it must have been especially hellish and I feel for the soldiers who died and I wish that more veterans were alive today.
