I have a WinTv 2000 for my computer, but ever since I've installed it the picture looks like this--

I bought a 256 MB graphics card a while back thinking it would improve the picture, but all it did was burn ghost icons into my wallpaper and other weird stuff, so I returned it. Is there anything that I can use in the WinTV installation software to fix this? The only thing I can think of is the DirectX codec, but I've already installed it and nothing's changed in quality.

In my experiences video making, one maxim has turned out to be absolutely true:

Any video capture made with a capture card will only be as good as the source signal.

If your card has an S-Video input, use it. The quality, assuming you're not capping from an RF or composite source, will look immeasurably better.

If you are using a Coaxial cable, make sute its an GR6, not RG59. Make sure that you have good splitters, not just the 900mhz but 1ghz and the ports have to be Power Pass. If not, then you are loosing db on every split that that can cut your picture almost in half quality.

If your card has an S-Video input, use it.

It does, so hopefully that'll work.

EDIT: Thanks, too, solarflere. That's also probably a big part of the problem since my splitters are really cheap.
