Why was it unaired?

It hasn't aired in the US? It's been airing in the UK for years!

I'm as confused as you... it was the greatest PPG episode I've ever seen.

I'm surprised that Cartoon Network didn't show this on their Adult Swim block.

Why was it unaired? If I had to guess, probably because there were some heavy cult overtones

This would've made an excellent ending to the series.

Yeah, this was definitely going to go over the heads of quite a few people. It 's apparant that it's supposed to be deep, and also quite an drug induced trip to boot. :p Though it does bring everything full circle as to why the PPG exist.

Thanks for the heads up, was looking for this episode a while back.

It was an awesome episode; CN really should have aired it.

Why was this never shown over here? Diffinitely one of their best ones. The songs really rocked.

3 reasons why this didn't air in the US, my friend pointed it out:

1) False God: the Gnome

2) Cult: The People of Townsville

3) Suicide: the Gnome

The Gnome didn't kill himself, he fell off the top of the plant.
It's not really that bad. I don't know how it would have gone into the heads of CN that someone could complain about this episode. I've seen much worse (on all ends of boundaries) air with no problem.

Wow...that wasn't at all as I expected it to be. And I think it would have been a suitable last-ever episode for PPG. The songs were rather catchy, too.

BTW, if y'all look carefully in Part 2, in the background you can see an elderly character who is a very close relation to Madam Foster from FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS!

Definately a great episode of the PPG, it would've made a fine series finale, it's right up there with JLU.

My guess is the whole religion message in a kids show would be seen as offensive, but really it isn't much more than an average PPG episode, just a bit more complex. Buttercup sounds too much like tommy pickles though :P

I saw this episode a while back through ways I will not say and absolutely loved it. After the crap that Seasons 5 and 6 had been, this was a breath of fresh air and a suitable end to the series.

I also liked the songs enough to put some of them in MP3 form for my iPod. CN US never airing this was really a crime.

That was the greatest episode ever. Although it's pretty obvious why it didn't air, there are some mildy anti-religious overtones.

Ooooooh...nice bit of philosophy in this one. I can see why it never aired, but gotterdammerung it would've been neat.

I've had this episode downloaded for a while. It truly is the greatest episode of the PPG ever made.

I heard the reason it was left unaired was because CN was afraid the target audience wouldn't understand it (it's mostly an homage to the rock opera "Tommy.") And that's also supposedly why they kept sitting on "I See a Funny Cartoon in Your Future" for a long time before finally airing it as the last episode.

The weird thing is, CN doesn't deny the existance of the episode--if you go to the PPG section of their website and look at the episode guide, this one is listed in there.

I can believe that- I have some familiarity with 'Tommy', but still found certain parts rather baffling.

That's not my idea of a good reason to keep it locked up, tho- I've heard from folks who never saw 'Rocky and Bulwinkle' but enjoyed 'Funny Cartoon' anyway.

And I certainly wouldn't be concerned about the cult references- I've seen similar stuff in 'The Simpsons' and 'Pinky And The Brain', and never heard if it having bad effects.

So when are you going to broadcast this, CN? You've already shelled out the dough to make the ep; you may as well get something back for it.

Is the gnome voiced by someone famous? The gnome's voice is uncredited everywhere I look.

Because it's not AS-worthy.

Come on, it's a CARTOON CARTOON, for god's sake.

Oh gee...this thread has a full episode linked. Yeah I left it open longer than I should have, just being nice for once, but I just can't leave it up. Sorry guys. Obviously you can probably find it on your own, but I don't want a direct link from here as. Even though it's YouTube, it's still illegal on these forums to talk about downloading full episodes. No warnings will be given out as you guys probably think YouTube is 100% legal, but I just have to close this.
