Due to high demand, everyone's absolute favorite show is back! The Internet can finally shut up now with the complaining of lack of new Tom episodes, because it finally has returned.

That was superb! The only problem I had with it was the abrupt ending. And how about that credit sequence? I'm sufficiently freaked out.
5/5! Tom's back!

This show is comedic beef wrapped in a comedic tortilla and dipped in very funny hot sauce.

Alot of animation for this season, contrary to last.
Excellent episode.
I still love how Tom solves the problem of that extra .2 liters of Mountain Dew.
Too bad Joy's still alive.
I still love how Jefferton's technology is still stuck in the mid-1980's.

A good start to this new batch of TGTTM episodes. Nothing spectacular but still so wonderful.
Interesting that they maintain continuity with Brendon, Brandon, and Brindon still being the new names of the three kids. However, Joy really did need to get a fire extinguisher spray to the face.
Im glad they came back with a good episode... if people noticed more of the jokes instead of wanting them spoon fed to them They would enjoy this show alot more.

And yet you have a Stewie avatar, a character from Family Guy, the epitomy of spoon fed jokes.
Look, I just want to point out that I hate this show but it's not because I don't get subtle jokes. I'm a fan of 12 Oz. Mouse. Tom is just not funny. The jokes are so ridiculously stupid and bad, they kill me inside.

i agree. the only reason people are gonna like this so much is cause of the retro references, other than that it wasn't very good.

12 Oz. Mouse is neither subtle, nor does it have jokes. I still love it, though.
I also love Tom. Speaking of which, why bother maintaining how awful you think this show is? Unless you really, really want to spend another ten weeks killing yourself inside.

no one likes big cups? another depressing failure by Tom :( funny commercial though! poor Brittnay.... and Joy is as scary as ever and she actually left the house! not to bad an ending it seems like Tom was spared :)
I can't believe I missed that on all the previews they've had, but I finally noticed that the Mayor's Cup Belt and his 6 Cups totaled $115.33.
But I did like how Tom sold the cups, but no soda to put them in. :P

I must admit the fire extinguisher thing at the end was pretty funny.
Also, it's nice to see Sir Mix A Lot getting work.

The one reason why I like this show, it reminds me so much of my home town. (Crappy strip malls, inept "city council/officials", thinks its better than it really is, etc.)
I don't know if I should be proud of that...

Tom Goes to the Mayor- Now with a new, slightly improved (mostly because Tom wasn't horribly maimed, but managed to escape the fiasco due to the beeper) Season II formula with 5% more live action and 30% more random celebrity cameos.
Is it just me, or do the cameos have a similar effect to the references on Robot Chicken?

The first was my reaction to the previews, the second was a response to another poster, and the last was my reaction after actually seeing the episode.

What the hell is wrong with you!?!? Listen, WE KNOW YOU HATE TOM GOES TO THE MAYOR. YOUR OPINION HAS BEEN NOTED. YOU CAN STOP NOW.
I dont see how anyone can whine about a show SO much but continue to watch every single second of it.

SEASON 2 OF TGGTM!!!!
In my opinion a solid if slightly mediocre episode. Big Cups was by far the funniest part- another insanely lame concept by Tom explained with the seriousness of a power point presentation. I also like the nod to continuity with Tom's step-sons keeping their Br_ndon names.
The rest of the episode with the macaroni art was kind of weak. The mayor seemed a little off from his blissfully unaware self.
Overall though, this show has retained it's unique "droll meditations on the insanity of modern life" sense of humor and I'm happy for that. I could see some network exec trying to wacky the show up a bit more with cutaways and faster punchlines.
This and squidbillies are the only newer AS 15 minute original I tune in for regularly.
(On a side note, and I don't even really care to get any responses because the dead horse has already been beaten.....What is it about this show that brings out such vitriol in it's critics? I mean I kind of hate Robot Chicken but I won't post about how awful it is in every single thread. Is it the weirdness?? The uncomfortable silences?? Tim and Eric really don't make any effort to appeal to the mainstream AS viewer, and that's fine if their sense of humor is not your thing)
EDITED TO ADD: Never mind-I don't want to get anyone in trouble

Could be a fluke, but I think they've upped the amount of live time in this show.
The Brittnay interview was funny though.
It was good to see Tom make a go of his business without interference.
Too often it seems like the Mayor is putting him through the grinder, but here he's actually a benefactor. He's mad of course, but he gives Tom some opportunities if only he could come through.
Tom needs to stand on his own and be a hopeless failure once in a while.
I like it better when the Mayor less as the cause of his downfall, but more bringing in new wacky level.
I'm hopefull this will be a good season.

When I first saw "Tom Goes to the Mayor" I thought it was the dumbest sh*bleep* I'd ever seen ("12 oz. Mouse" takes that title now), but it really grew on me. I enjoyed the last season, and I enjoyed this new episode. The Big Cups was just kooky-crazy-bra-reference funness, and I found it appropriate and joyfully random to have Sir Mix-A-Lot make an appearance. I do so love the assorted celebrity cameos... David Cross... Fred (Something)... that guy from "Just Shoot Me" with the glasses who's name I can never seem to remember at all...

Fred Willard. Heh heh, I always forget his last name. Heck, I sometimes call him "Frank." :D He's hillarious and is in a lot of TV shows, but for some reason I just keep forgetting his name too.
No offense to those who don't like the show, but why do you care SO MUCH about bad things happening to Tom? I think for a joke, they should have a commercial telling people "Hello I am Tom Peters of Tom Goes to the Mayor... The events that occur with me on the show are not real, so I don't want anyone of you worrying about me..." Something corny like that would crack me up.

Speaking of bad things happening to Tom, I don't see why such a nice guy would marry a terrible witch like Joy, a witch with three kids even o.O My mom would probably like the twist, though; she's always complaining about the hot, intelligent woman in a cartoon or sitcom marrying the fat, stupid, obnoxious man. Though I think Joy is a significant few pegs down from Fred Flintstone, Home Simpson, and Peter Griffin...
DISCLAIMER: Being an FA, I obviously don't find Joy hideous because she is fat, she just happens to be hideous and fat <.< As well as mean and loud and the kind of character you want to see George Lowe decapitate with a shotgun blast...

Well, the thing is, Tom isn't intelligent or hot. I think Tom married Joy because she's the best he could do. I mean, it's not like there are any attractive women in Jefferton.
Actually, Tom & Joy got married before moving to Jefferton.

Being comedy, things are likely to go awry, well I guess that goes for drama, romance and news as well or it would be pretty dull.
Things should go bad for Tom.
The problem I have with most TGttM episodes is it feels like it's more just watching a guy suffer through debasement then watching something funny.

NOTE TO MODS: This isn't trolling.
No offense to those who don't like the show, but why do you care SO MUCH about bad things happening to Tom? The events that occur with me on the show are not real, so I don't want anyone of you worrying about me..." Something corny like that would crack me up.
For me it's because Tom is so nice and never really does anything wrong or mean to anyone. I don't care for the show and don't have any particular love for the character but it's depressing to see these horrible things done to such a nice guy. It's like Orel on Moral Orel. I don't really like that show or Orel either but I feel bad for him because he only wants to do good and be nice to people.
I guess it's like Meg on Family Guy but I actually don't mind how they treat Meg because she has it coming sometimes and the characters of Family Guy all get pretty abused, it's just part of the humor. On TGTTM though, Tom is the only one to receive such abuse every episode and it's just so much to him. On Family Guy, the Meg jokes are a small part of episode usually but TGTTM seems to revolve around Tom's horrible life. From his horrible, horrible wife and kids, to his failure ideas, to the torture the city puts him through. It's just really depressing.
The problem I have with most TGttM episodes is it feels like it's more just watching a guy suffer through debasement then watching something funny.
And there's another of my points about it. Usually, the things that happen to Meg, and any other character on any comedy show that's abused, are comical, impossible, crazy, and funny. On TGTTM, it's almost like a snuff film. There's nothing really funny about what they do to him, nor anything crazy about it to add an element of humor. It's just a man being put through hell.
Well, the thing is, Tom isn't intelligent or hot. I think Tom married Joy because she's the best he could do. I mean, it's not like there are any attractive women in Jefferton.
Well, we did see in "Pipe Camp" that Tom is easily swayed away from her.
As well as mean and loud and the kind of character you want to see George Lowe decapitate with a shotgun blast...
Too bad he usually sticks with blowing the heads off of nuns. >_>
