Would be nice to know what your motherboard supports.. I'm assuming it's AGP 8X in which case you can probably buy something like a ATI Radeon 9600 for around $100.. possibly a 9800.

If you want to stick with NVidia, you can go up to a 7800GS in AGP 4X/8X, but they're pricey and from what I hear ("Computer Gaming Monthly" before anyone asks) aren't worth it. I'd go with a 6600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122206) or 6800XT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130268).

That's pretty much as fast as you can get for AGP slots anymore. Everything's switching to PCI-E.

yeah i have a dell Dimension 4800 computer with an AGP slot.

So PCI is back huh? Jeez. And I thought it was a big deal back in the day when my old ISA card gave out :-D

PCI is not back, PCI-E x16 has arived. E for express. its much faster than AGP wich is faster than PCI.

Since its AGP we are talking about, you have limited options, everything is moving to PCI-E.
Newegg.com is your Best Friend when it comes to relatively inexpensive parts.
Be sure to get Nvidia card with Direct X 9.0c and Open GL 2.0 with 256RAM.
Just go here (http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Subcategory.asp?N=2000380048&Subcategory=48) to Newegg.com video card section, and use the custom search menu to find a card that fits your budget and your rig.
