Subjects range from pitching to Comedy Central to the type of creator notes they get.

Nice interview. I didn't realize that Lazzo at first hated the Ghost episode. Looks like creators actually like AS' notes. I'm assuming they're better than Nick's notes for John K. all those years ago. And probably from Spike TV.

I find it interesting that his original plan was to kill off the Venture Brothers all the time and have them reappear in the next scene. He says that he didn't do that because South Park did it first. But, in South Park when Kenny dies he almost never reappears in the next scene. It usually takes him a full episode to reappear. Besides, it's not like South Park was the first show to kill off a character in every episode. In those old Aeon Flux shorts on MTV Aeon Flux died in every episode. And there was a sketch comedy show on Fox called the Edge that killed off the actors every single episode. And there was a sitcom called Life Stinks on Fox where the main character died in nearly every episode. And it's not like South Park is the last show to routinely kill off characters. Drawn Together, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Sealab 2021 routinely kill off main characters.

Excel Saga still has them all beat; The killing of the main character within the first 2 minutes of episode 1. ;)
Does anyone else read this and think, fan or not, that this is the most important show on Adult Swim?

Because it is.
Its got neither the pot-head/college student humor most, if not all AS originals have, nor the insanely low production values. Its different and yet probably the most mainstream, story driven show Adult Swim has ever had. And while I'll stop short of saying most other AS shows require no effort (because I'm sure in their own way they do...regardless of how simple they are) Venture Brothers SEEMS like the most thought out of them all.
In a weird way it's AS's own Futurama. And while it probably won't last nearly as long...I can see it never really getting the attention it deserves.

I can't believe Lazzo didn't like the Ghost episode at first. That's my favorite one.

No, not really. See even to William Street, it's still mainly about the ratings and popularity of a show that determines it's importance. And in that aspect there are shows more important to AS then Venture Brothers (like Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken and The Boondocks). Still though, Venture Brothers is the first regular animated series of AS and it is a pretty big cult hit. And we know that AS really does care for the show (why else would they be having second season ads promoting the show so early? They haven't done that with any other show entering it's second season, except for the possiblity of Robot Chicken).

Well remember the version that Lazzo originally saw was different then "The Ghosts Of Sargasso" t hat we all saw. And also, everyone who read Publick's livejournal would have known that was one of the episodes Lazzo didn't like at first and grew to be his favorite. (So Lazzo is like you now the Myst, at least when it comes to that regard).
I did like some of the other unknown (for us fans anyway) nuggets of info Publick gave us in this info, like wanting to originally kill the Ventures off in every seen or using the Publick name to say that he's creating a new "generation" of Venture Brother stuff left from his forefathers. And the second season's looking even better, knowing there's more of a focus on animation, music, and even getting a script from Ben Edmulnd and him pitching out some other story ideas. I do wonder what Publick and team would do though if they were allowed to make a VB movie. I mean if the ATHF movie dosen't bomb there's a bit more of a possibility of that happening, but it's mainly just a "big what if" sort of thing.

What do you mean? I wasn't even posting here when that episode aired or when any VB episode aired and I've loved the show since the pilot.

The Myst, you're the one who just said in your previous post that "Ghost Of The Sargasso" is your favorite episode of Venture Brothers Season ONe. It was stated by Publick in his LiveJournal blog that after the rewrite of the episode, Lazzo's favorite of the season. I compared you to Lazzo in that regard. Can you connect the dots NOW?
Oh and Venture Brothers season one for DVD is the number one DVD at Amazon.com. Congrats to Publick and crew, and whoever bought it to make it so.
