IS Case Closed done on AS?
If so...
WHY?
Will Funimation Continue to release DVDs?
Has Funimation released any new DVDs after last years season finalie?
What episode was it so I can go pick up that DVD.

Allow me to answer some of these questions FOR REAL.
Will Funimation Continue to release DVDs?
Yeah. They're been releasing DVDs of the show ever since CC came out on AS and haven't stopped since it was cancelled off AS.
Has Funimation released any new DVDs after last years season finalie?
Yeah they have. In fact they're been releasing "new episodes" (epsiodes that Adult Swim didn't air that are past the two part season finale they showed for CC) ever since they started releasing CC. The releases are a bit weird for the show but they have been showing episodes of the fourth and fifth season of Case Cloased before even finishing off the first.
What episode was it so I can go pick up that DVD.
This should help you out with that.

Note that anything that says Case 4 or Case 5 hasn't been shown on Adult Swim.

Yeah I enjoyed watching the show. I watched every single episode that AS showed at whatever time they showed it. Even the ones when it was on the graveyard hour. Ridiculous. Probably. But I really liked this show. I just thought it didn't get enough exposure before it even aired. I didn't even know it was coming on until literally seconds before the show debuted when they gave a short promo of CC/DC.
Now the only thing that I can do to even watch it is to buy the dvds and I have quite a few I might add. But I'd rather wait for the boxsets so I've stopped getting them. Even more so because now they are releasing the first two seasons that AS had aired. One step forward and two steps back is the way I see it. They should have released the dvds from the begining.

The show felt very old to me, like when I used to watch Nickelodeon. I mean, I know the show actually is old, but just its entire feel was a reason I could never get into it. I guess I just have a different take on what a cartoon should be.

Adult Swim no longer has the rights to Case Closed. The show is now on the FUNimation Channel.

Wow I wish that this show would have done better. It was a fun show to watch on weeknights and it was different from other AS action titles. AS has made some good acquistions over the past two years but acquistions like Euereka 7 and sCRYed have been so weak. I wish AS late night action could be more classic shows like Lupin and Detective Conan, but yeah, sadly CN in general seems not to care about shows before the year 2002 (those shows go to Boomerang I guess nowadays.)

sadly CN in general seems not to care about shows before the year 2002 (those shows go to Boomerang I guess nowadays.)And that's what I don't understand. I know it had its fair shake at the spot-light taking Inuyasha's spot at 12:30 for a while but I mean camon '02 wasn't that long ago. Why CN considers it "old" is beyond me.

CN hasn't aired Case Closed in a long time because the rights expired a long time ago. Whether it was shown at 1am or 5am, they aired it during most of the time they had the rights to it.

I to really miss CC since it was a different pace from the usual anime. I believe if Funi would've waited a little longer I believe the show would be a hit on CN since they can now air TV-PG and TV-14.

What? The show wasn't edited. People just didn't like it. It has nothing to do with FUNi.
Oh, and when CC premiered, they were already showing TV-PG and TV-14. This is ADULT Swim, remember?

Point taken no shows but only movies got the TV-14. I'm sure Funi won't have to edit much to downgrade TV-14 to TV-PG. Only (I'm guessing) 5 episodes got a TV-14 rating.

CC quickly became my favorite show especially when I'd come to this board and we'd all make guesses as to who did the murder before the show ended. Bah well DVD Boxset here I come.
I heard the show has a HUGE selection of episodes so it'll most likely be forever before they are all dubbed. I'm obsessed with the show, so I need to know how it ends.

I'm obsessed with the show, so I need to know how it ends.Well if you want to know that you will have to wait. As far as I know the show is still going strong in Japan. With new eps every week no less. I don't see it ending anytime soon with 400+ episodes already in the books. Who would of thunk it, huh? One of the reasons why I like it so much is that it has a load of eps which makes it fun to watch and knowing that there is SOOOOO much to watch makes it even better.
I actually don't like series' that are short to be honest.

Though it's still a heck of a lot better than what some other Boomerangs around the world have become...
Anyway, if you're lucky enough to get the Colours TV channel, chances are Conan will be showing up there starting June 19th (looking forward to finally catching the three "lost" episodes).

It's always good to see new fans. In addition to the DVD's you get in the "Case 1" starter set, you also get a Conan keychain and a mini-poster. I happen to have a Case Closed calendar in my room and hope to get the soundtrack(s) soon.

As Nahman said, the show is still going strong in Japan (the 10th movie [released somewhat recently] was #1 at the Japanese box office for three consecutive weeks). Since the Funimation boards have been inactive, the best site I've found for the latest information on Detective Conan is http://www.edogawaconan.com (check out the Conan watermark and the DVD cleaner).

I can't really understand why Case Closed has such a loyal following. It seems to just follow the standard detective show formula. Each mystery begins with a contrived premise and ends with a flimsy explanation that all too often hinges on an oversimplification of a medical or physical phenomenon.

NahMan85

What about "Monk"? Or the CSI shows?Yeah but they are not anime shows now are they? See what makes CC/DC so good is that it involves what any of the real shows has but into animation. I don't know how to really explain it. It's just better that way. I would rather see any mystery show as an anime because they are allowed to do more than in any of these reality tv shows IMO. That's probably the reason why I enjoy watching anime more than real television.
Besides there is a reason why it has over 400 episodes. I know AS understands that but just can't seem to use that to its advantage. If they still had the rights to the show they could easily show it at the 10:30 spot on weekdays but of course that belongs to the comedy section, no anime allowed.
I liked the show, although I never understood why it was on Adult Swim. The stuff isn't really any worse than what you'd see on Naruto or JLU.

Please tell me you're joking. There was an episode where a girl's body parts were scattered across a forest. I remember that one...aren't there others that were pretty bad, too? Like the killer-nurse (or whatever her job was). I know if I were smaller and watched that, I'd be even more terrified of check-ups. And the mom that murdered (sp?) her kid? Traumatize kids by thinking their parents will kill them without notice (and they wouldn't want cake for birthdays anymore). I'd think that's a bit intense. Not a whole bunch, but some of my cousins are those 'hey-thats-cool-let's-try-it' type of people. They would definitely get a kick out of stuff like that...sadly :(. Well...all in all I think it's better to have CC on Adult Swim than on Toonami or something...but now it's not on CN at all, thus our conversation! ^^;;

What about "Monk"? Or the CSI shows?
Monk might possibly qualify, though I'm not sure as I've only seen a couple of episodes. CSI would definitely not qualify as a mystery show. I mean, unless you have a forensics analysis team at your house, it's pretty much impossible to solve the murder before the foresnsics team does.
Monk is the only mystery show on television. The CSIs and Law & Orders are police procedurals, not mystery shows.
Ever since David Suchet and Jeremy Brett stepped down, the world has been a sad, lonely place for TV mystery fans.

and thus is the whole problem with case closed.....
The characters are kids, while many of the murder situations are adult.
I really couldn't take a kid detective agency at 12:30p.m. It just held absolutely no interest for me. On the other hand, there's no way they could air a large percentage of these episodes anywhere else. Japanese television standards are different than American. This show should air around 7:30-8 at night to build an audience, but no network would air something about dismembered girls at that hour.
Is it fair for me to write the show off?-probably not
Could CC succeed on another network?-doubtful
Did CN intentionally screw fans of this show?-(despite what any paranoid message boarder will say) NO
Was it right to pick up this show in the first place?-no way
I enjoyed case closed and was extremely pissed AD canceled it.

I really miss Case Closed on Adult Swim because it had the best talkbacks ever.
Ev-er.
It's too bad it never developed much of a following outside of Toon Zone while it aired.
The reports of it's reception to standard animation fans was brutal.
I guess a boy with a dart watch wasn't winning over the action crowd, and a drunken, womanizing Richard Moore wasn't enough for those into zany comedy.
The only show that was a more disappointing failure on Adult Swim has to be Lupin.
Too bad the Funimation Channel is less available then Boomerang.

I liked this show a lot when it started. I ended up watching all of the ones Adult Swim aired but I started losing interest long before that. The mysteries were good, in general, but as others have said, it started falling into a formula that got old.
They should not have given up on the ideas of Rachel becoming suspicious about Conan. Or of Conan trying to find the guys that changed him into a kid. After the early episodes, they rarely mentioned these elements again, if at all.

Folks in the cities where the Verizon FiOS digital fiber TV service is available will be able to see the FUNimation Channel on FiOS sometime this summer. FUNi's syndicator just cut a deal to place it on Verizon's hi-def digital service.
Thing is that you'll have to have digital satellite, digital cable, or digital broadcast service to ever have any chance of seeing this. They apparantly have no plans for an analog feed. It's a total digital service. So folks who have only analog cable or analog broadcasting (which is most of the nation) won't be seeing this channel for a long time, if ever.
Similarly, since digital cable is a top-tier or premium service in most cities where it's offered, folks with just basic cable also are out of luck.
On the syndicated FUNi Channel, I haven't been able to find out if they're going to run Conan from the beginning or pick up where Adult Swim left off. (^_*)

I think the episode(s) were the two-parter, Mountain Villa Murder.
They've had a few other murders that were fairly violent. Of course, the graphic images they usually show are only the mutilated corpses, not the act itself, but it's probably enough to keep it off anything except Adult Swim. Though I am surprised that they haven't just edited the crap out of those scenes so that they could show it at an earlier hour. Maybe they figure it's too cerebral for a younger audience, too.
I didn't know there were so many episodes of this show. Does the show stick with the basic formula shown on Adult Swim for about fifty episodes or does Conan ever get his years back? I don't think I could keep watching the same old, same old, for four hundred flippin' episodes! I'd at least rather have them change it up, you know, have Conan return to normal some of the time. Maybe he'd have to keep switching back and forth for a while. But even then, at some point give the poor guy some peace.
Now that I think of it, after four hundred episodes, shouldn't he be a teenager again anyways? :D

I'll just make a list to make things easier in order from the first ep:
1. Seeing dead corpses
2. A bodyless head (which wasn't real and only Amy was taumatized)
3. People tied up (Don't think it's traumatizing though.)
4. Seeing a mad man (Who was locked up in his own house.)
5. A mad dog that was well loved
6. Getting lost in the woods
7. Conan getting kidnapped (Yeah yeah I know. This one either. But he did say conan and gang. Thought I'd put it in.)
8. More corpses (But this time having to look for one. Yikes)
9. Seeing a killer attempting to kill a little kid.
10. Seeing their favorite cartoon character (that sounds redundant ) kill someone
11. Countless traps that could kill them
12. And a dead hobo. (Not sure how it would be tramutizing )
And this is only the first 80 or so episodes. I can only imagine how many more there could be on the list with over 400+ eps. Although some of them will be the same anyway. Well sort of. I'm sure someone could have done this way better than I did.

You won't be seeing Conan on AS anymore. They returned the license to Funimation at Funi's request so Funi can run Case Closed on its own anime TV channel. Funi is doing that now. AS let the license go because Case Closed proved to be a lousy adult-viewer draw, even though it was well-received by a lot of the Toon Zone membership.
The problem for Conan fans is that they have to upgrade to a digital TV service, whether broadcast, satellite or cable, in order to see Case Closed in the cities where Funi's channel is available. If all you have is basic cable, you won't see Case Closed on TV. (^_*)
