I see that there is another new release of the Fleischer cartoons called Superman: The Ultimate Max Fleischer Cartoon Collection and I was just wondering if this release is going to be worth getting. I heard that WB would be including it in their big Superman Anthology set and then this comes up so I'm a little confused. I'd like to get a copy of the cartoons that are unedited and include the whole cartoons in the best shape possible and this looks like it could be it but I'd like to know of WB has any plans for the Fleischer cartoons as well. Can any Superman fans help?

There has been no actual word that the Fleischer/Famous shorts are going to be included in the Superman box. So I wouldn't hold out 100% for that set. That being said, VCI, despite being one of the better PD distributors, is still very hit and miss with their dvds. Once in a while they'll do a excellent release like Hannibal and follow it up with a naff one like their recent noirs.

The clips on WB's Superman documentary look very cleaned up compared to other versions I've seen, which makes me very suspicious that something is going on at WB with these cartoons

but $6 is hella cheap. Thanks!

In the Home Theater Forum chat, WB said it was under evaluation for a 2007 release.
ALSO, big news: WB has CONFIRMED that the Fleisher toons will be restored and on the Ultimate Collection.

So I've heard the "Ultimate Collection" isn't happening anymore?? or something....so what is going on with the Fleischer shorts? Is there another set still coming out with them restored and such?
The shorts will be bonus features spread across Superman: The Movie and the Superman II DVDs, I believe. One way or another, they're in that 8 disc Christopher Reeve Superman DVD Collection

Yeah. Paul Dini confirmed on his blog that the Fleischer cartoons will be on the Ultimate set, and that he recorded some comments about them for a featurette.

Can't remember the details offhand, but I believe the first 9 Fleischer Studios shorts will be on one of Superman: The Movie's extra discs, and the remaining 8 Famous Studios shorts will be on the extra disc with Superman II (theatrical cut).
