Yes the graphic novel series that takes the last five minutes of the series(alternate reality sketch) and expands upon it with indepth detail
Anyways it's a totally different art style than the other Eva Manga. Everything is more whimsical and happy. Rei isn't deadpan, a few of the NERV employees work at the School Shinji and such to research candidates. Mrs. Ikari is still alive...and gendo's head looks like that of a toddler, the thing is a bulbus cranial mass
it's also funny, but there's apparently no giant robot action in the first volume at all, but the story makes up for that.

Not drawn by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto? He needs to finish the regular EVA graphic novels.

If memory serves me right in the second novel, Yui even wallops Gendo for being overimposing on the canadates.

as my friend told me of this...I bought it about 2 weeks ago and I found some interesting notes...
the art was very cartoonish unlike sadamoto's drawing which are pretty lush and detailed (much like the series-but what do you expect from a story board artist of NGE?) but it's handled in a good way because of the story.
I think what freaked me out in the manga is
ritsuko still has romantic feelings about genndo and tells shinji about it...yes shinji I would be immensely scared (or scarred) as well
as far as plots go, to see rei rather bubbly and awful ditsy is a change, but a nice change of pace at the same time. I think the romantic feelings she gets toward shinji (after what 3 days) are a bit rushed but it does create a lot of tension between asuka and rei over shinji's affection.
Asuka was both normal and abnormal. I think kaworu said it best when he had his thought about the protector and the protected.
Shinji is a lot more likeable in this one
after the incident in the cooking class, shinji just asks if asuka was alright. I thought that was cute and unlike shinji-more like ginji amino of getbackers or even gokuh of dbz. The notion that shinji has an opportunity to show a nice side to him is also a shock but a nice one as well...
All in all, after I read this volume, I wanted to read more-especially seeing
adam is coming in the next volume
so it leads me to the question-
if the world hinges on shinji's choice in relationship matters, why do the angels still exist? And if Nerv exists, is Genndo still pursuing second impact? A lot of questions arise with this title, but it reminds me of part kare kano, part FLCL, but still felt like an eva. I'm hooked

Well, we still know that Kaworu is either still the 17th angel or somethign else is up with him, as he keeps his backstory and sync ability from EVA.
It is really an alternate universe where shinji has a better life.
The thing is, what is up with Rei. There are some hints that she is still a clone of sorts, but since Yui is still alive there is no need. She probably has a different kind of odd origin.

A lot of people think that Angelic Days is merely the exploration of the alternate reality Shinji saw in the final episode of the anime and that it shares its continuity. And although it can definitely be looked at that way, I really do think it's really a totally different telling of the entire Eva saga from a more lighthearted point of view and doesn't share any continuity at all. I think there are bound to be some similarities with the anime storywise, but I believe a lot of the really messed up psychobabble stuff is left out in lieu of more romance and humor.
Personally, I'm currently enjoying Angelic Days a lot. But then, it reminds me of the more comical elements in the first half of Eva too...

Hopefully chapter 14 will be done soon.. since that's where the scanlations stopped and chapter 13 ended on a cliffhanger that's been bugging me for a year.
