This is where teh Simpsons started to go downhill, but I'll be buying it nonetheless. I can't wait to see what the regular styled box looks like. Oh, and I truly wish they would stop releasing these every Aug and Dec. How about March, Aug, Dec?

I think I know the motive behind slapping a "Limited Edition Box!" sticker on Maggie's head. Not enough people are digging the cumbersome plastic shape boxes, so they're trying a different marketing approach.

Can't wait to peel that stupid "LIMITED EDITION BOX LOL BUY IT NOWE" sticker off the box.

PS: This AND Weird Al Show in the same week AS MY BIRTHDAY? My head's going to explode.

I'm interested in hearing what Ian Maxtone-Graham has to say... for obvious reasons. Also Steve Young, Reid Harrison, and Rachel Pulido as one-time writers on the show, as well as Alex Rocco (Roger Meyers) should be cool. Hope they talk a lot and give insightful info.

Also, I'm really surprised this hasn't gotten more replies so far. Apparently people here really DO start hating the show around this season (incidentally, Season 8 is one of my favorites).

I think it was a good season. It's ironic that they've become the kind of thing they made fun of other shows for in Spin-Off Showcase.

Besides, it has SCORPIO!

BINGO!

This is the last, great Simpsons season (meaning there's definitely more good than bad). It's also the final entry in my collection. Can't wait :anime:

Best Season Ever.

Baboons to the left of me. Baboons to the right. The speeding locomotive tore through a sea of inhuman fangs. A pair of the great apes rose up at me but - Bam Bam I sent them flying like Two Hairy Footballs. A third came screaming at me..hsss hssss...and that's when I got mad.

I'll probably keep buying the sets just for the commentaries (which are fantastic). I'm glad they've got more illustrated commentaries, as they're always a blast. This season has some personal classics (Mountain of Madness, the Homer They Fall, Hurricane Neddy, You Only Move Twice), so August can't come soon enough.

I love this season, i think this is the last season before I moved to the states and stopped watching the simpsons (since i didn't have local chanels) so seasons after this even if they are "bad" i'm still excited about them since they will be whole seasons worth of new episodes to me.

it might be too early to ask but how will the season box sets be for s11-15? i'm guessing after the head backlash they'll keep the old box design but with a different theme,

Trust me, Seasons 8-10 were eh, but it went back upward after that and has been getting better each year. Sure, every season has their bad episodes, but so does every show. There is not one show out there that does not have at least 5 bad episodes. Well, unless it is a 13 episode series.

That is beautiful box art, unlike Season 6's crapshoot and Season 7's kind of gimmicky mess. If I wasn't hell bent on getting the heads, I would certainly get that.

I really dislike the shift of theme from the Couch covers. It drives me batty when companies release things that are meant to be collected in a set, but then change the "look" of the individual items so the overall set loses it's completenes

There were so many potential variations on the couch gag cover art that they could've used, and even if they sold both the heads and the regular boxes, you'd think the regular ones would stay in theme. The covers for Seasons 6 and 7 were just... blech. This one's a slight improvement, but I'll stick with the family member heads.

For some reason, I haven't been keeping up with "The Simpsons" lately - probably because the DVDs are coming out faster, and I know that if I just wait patiently, I'll have everything. I don't plan to cut off my collection at Season 8, though, since the commentaries alone are enough to warrant my desire for the Scully years (it'll be interesting to hear Tim Long and Ian Maxtone-Graham try to cover their butts).

Season 8, if I'm not mistaken, was also the last year that John Swartzwelder worked in-house - once Mike Scully took the executive producer job, Swartzwelder's once-genius episodes became increasingly more horrible, and from what I understand, it's because he began writing elsewhere and sending his scripts into the studio to be reworked without his input. Perhaps this set's commentaries can shed some light on this (since Swartzwelder has never provided a commentary, there's a fair amount of mystery around him among the other commentators).

Season 8 will be the last season I purchase for my collection. Scorpio is a must-have as others have said (I wish I could have a boss like him).

It will be a while before I buy this though, I'm still watching Season 4 and I have 5 sitting unopened on my shelf.

Out faster? We're only getting 2 a year. If we were getting 3-4, I might agree with you.

I mean faster than they used to. Remember when we only got one a year?

I guess the real reason I've dropped off with the show is because there's a certain other show I've gotten into lately that's even funnier than "The Simpsons", and it's taking top priority in my TV and DVD watching time - I won't name names, but its initials are MST3K.

Perhaps this set's commentaries can shed some light on this (since Swartzwelder has never provided a commentary, there's a fair amount of mystery around him among the other commentators). I seriously doubt they'll talk about it. If the issue concerning Groening taking his name off the "A Star is Burns" credits wasn't even addressed in passing, I doubt they'll talk about Swartzwelder's scripts getting re-worked. But hey, we can always hope.

It's a totally diffrent kind of show. I Love it also but just diffrent things
