Ok, I saw this at the Disney Store... Cindy's having doubts about being a princess, Prince Charming is reassuring (possibly later in the flick)... and Cindy encourages her sorrowful-looking redhead stepsister to "follow [her] heart"

Beyond satire? I'm just ready to throw up at how Disney feels that can degrade all of their classic films this way. We dont need another Peter Pan. We dont need another Dumbo. We DONT need another Cinderella!! And whats worse is that all these crappy sequals are just carbon copies of each other. I'm starting to hate Diseny.

It's not right. Cinderella is a great classic story that's not even a Disney Original and can never be, they have no right to make a sequel to it when it wasn't made for one. Geez, if they're this desperate, I wonder if they ever thought to do other book classics as movies...I'd love to see them do an animated 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. It's just sad to see them ruining Disney Classics with Disney Blunders that have to be sequels.

It's all Lion King's fault, why did that movie have to do so well. Because it was the biggest selling home video ever, Disney decided to cash in on it and do a sequel which became the highest selling direct to video movie ever. Now, Disney has decided to do a whole crap-load of sequels to it's movies.

Of course, we've had the Fantasia sequel, but that one really doesn't count in my eyes because it's really just a bunch of animated shorts set to music with no main storyline.

Now, the Rescuers had a sequel, the Rescuers Down Under which was probably better than the first, but that was okay because the original movie was never really a huge blockbuster hit. And it certainly isn't considered one of Disney's Classic films the way Cinderella, Dumbo, and Peter Pan are (which are all getting sequels). If Disney wants to do a sequel to the Aristocats, Oliver & Company, or the Great Mouse Detective, I'm fine with that, but please leave the classics alone. Would anyone ever want to see a Gone With The Wind TWO??

It will undeniably suck. If there was ever a film that didn't need a sequel, it was this one. The book closed. Everyone is happy. Why we need more of this is beyond me...

Jedigreedo

The Rescuers had a sequel because well, it was an original story by Disney and it was meant for a sequel, especially with the way they did it. The Lion King's sequel was ok, and the Aladdin trilogy was a little on eh side but it was ok, because they were left open and a sequel had an opportunity plus it wasn't long after the first one was released. See, the thing is, even if it wasn't ruining the original movie like Cinderella and Peter Pan, it'd still not be right because the originals came out way too long ago, if a sequel had been meant to come out, it would've been retired by Disney by now.

The only Disney sequels that make sense to make (and I am not saying this will make them good) are their ORIGINAL movies, not on movies based on fairy tales and other books, stories that were never intended to have sequels. Like a Hunchback to Notre Dame sequel....puhleaze, Victor Hugo must be rolling over in his grave.

Cinderella wouldn't be reassuring to her step-sister, she'd have her shipped to Outer Mongolia! Why disturb history?!?!?!?

It's better to do something like "The Wind Done Gone". Or, going to classic British department, League of Extraordinary Gentleman where Mina Murray, Dr. Jekyll, Invisible Man and others started a JLA-type team.

It's going to suck, yet it's going to sell. The insipid Lady and the Tramp sequel had a lame plot, yet it did extremely well, as do all those damn Land Before Time sequels.

I loved that series. I can't wait for the sequel to that.

As for Cinderella 2: WHY? What could they possibly add to the story? Hey, why not a sequel to Snow White as well? They could add an eighth dwarf!

This just takes the meaning right out of "Happily Ever After". I'm so disallusioned right now, I'll expect anything out of Disney. Hmm...Dumbo 2...I'm sure they're already working on it.

watch, in a few years every disney animated movie will have its very own dtv sequal. seriously, disney wont be happy till they milked it for all its worth. and thats so sad, it shows disney has no shame and its first priority is money.

they should stick w/ animated series based on their movies. i really liked the aladdin series and the hercules series. actually, most disney cartoon series are pretty good (well, most).

im just waiting for snow white 2, its coming, believe me, disney has proven a long time ago that they have no shame.

Heh heh... Disney could take the "next step" at this point and even start doing crossovers! Cinderella meets Snow White... No, wait! How about Cinderella VS. Snow White... Dumbo ends up in Peter Pan's fanatasy world... and the Harlem Globetrotters, Sonny & Cher, Abbott & Costello, and the Scooby Doo gang make a guest appearance in the next Aladdin movie! Oh yeah, and the Transformers wake up temporarily and prematurely (once they crash-landed on Earth) and make a guest appearance in the next "Land Before Time" movie. And... how about this? Alice finds out that Wonderland IS Oz, it's just the "bad part of town!"

And finally, as a sign the world is going to end, Jabberjaw makes an appearance on the next Aquaman episode of Justice League...

Reminds me of Garrison Keillor short story I read a long time ago, called "The Truth about Fairy Tales," I think. Snow White, Gretel and Cinderella "setting the record straight." Cinderella says that yes, she's lived happily ever after but that she's really had to work at keeping the marriage going. She and her stepmother are now good friends and get together to play tennis almost every day.

I gave up on Disney a long time ago.

It started before The Lion King. I refer you to a little gem called Return of Jafar. I could feel a part of my childhood dying as I watched it. By the end it felt like I was in a war movie where the guy is sticking his hands in the open wound of his best friend and letting the blood trickle down his fingers. I hope Disney is aware of the inner child genocide they committed by releasing that. But I guess these days it's not about the movie lovers; it's about keeping the rugrats still for a couple hours in front of the TV while mom takes a nap. I plan to heavily screen my children's movies in the future, not for adult content, but for script and animation quality.

It may only be a matter of years before the CINDERELLA mmets SNOW WHITE crap can start to go down. They'll probably work it out so they somewhow take place at the same time and they meet by chance and have a wild adventure or something. I really can't see myself even watching CINDERELLA 2. I just can't believe how they continuously destroy one classic after another...

They'll stop making DTVs when Middle America(for lack of a better term) stops buying/renting. My sister is curious about Cinderella 2, actually.

I just wish they'd stuck to Grimms in the first place, with the stepsisters cutting up their feet in order to fit the slipper and later getting their eyes pecked out by birds. :)

Well, they didn't meet per-se...but they were both characters in "Into the Woods" a very good musical which gives new meaning to "Fractured Fairy Tales"

Katzenberg was also a little nuts. It was his fault that Pocahontas blew. He got so Oscar-hungry when Beauty & the Beast drew an unexpected nomination that he turned the lighthearted kid flick that was Pocahontas into an attempt at the next great love story. He went against history and made Pocahontas a sexy adult. He opposed a very small in-joke that would've had Genie's lamp from Aladdin in the background of Meeko's little den of stolen items when he's digging through his stuff looking for John Smith's compass. But his most heinous act was eliminating the character of Redfeather, a talking turkey voiced by John Candy. John Candy later died before the movie was even released.

The creators of Hercules based the character of Hades on Katzenberg.

I've known all this for sometime now, being the DisneyBoy that I am. Still, I can't help but feel like crying as I read all this. The DTV sequels suck bigtime , despite whatever little redeeming entertainment value they may have.

Yup. Hunchback 2. Dumbo 2. Peter Pan 2. Where did you hear about Cinderella 2? I usually get my news from Disney magazine but I hadn't heard about that one!

I disagree that Pocahontas sucked. I didn't like it the first time I saw it, but by the fourth, I was hooked. I beautiful film, kinda like Romeo and Juliet in it's detailed simplicity. Great animation...I guess it wasn't met well after huge action type flicks like Aladdin and Loin King. Give it another chance though.

Oh, and did anyone see Atlantis? So much potential thrown away. Poor colors, cheap backgrounds (it's frickin ATLANTIS for heavan's sake!) and a boring, cliche plot.

I have got to go now.... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Please God, STOP THE INSANITY!!

No Cinderella 2
No Dumbo 2
No Hunchback 2
No Doug
No PB&J Otter
No Book of Pooh
No Pepper Anne
No Recess
No Stanley
No Teacher's Pet
No So Wierd
No Jett Jackson
No Jersey
No Even Stevens
AND ESPECIALLY
NO LIZZIE MCGUIRE!!!

Let's not get into that crossover thing. Now a crossover of DuckTales & Darkwing Duck would be pretty cool (Heck, Launchpad's in the show, and GizmoDuck has appeared in a few episodes.). Bonkers, and Lucky metting Roger Rabbit (In a time travle story) would work. Bernard & Bianca teaming up with The Rescue Rangers wouldn't be too bad, BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T HAVE SNOW WHITE, AND CINDERELLA MEET EACHOTHER THAT'S WRONG!! The following list proves that i have lost faith in Di$ney. I think Rudy from Fat Alber said it best

Rudy: They should call you "surrender".

Russle: Surrender

Rudy: Yeah. one look at you, and i give up.

Atlantis 2 is on the way, as well, but given all that I've heard about it... It's pretty much the pilot to the series that never got made. So other planned plotlines (including a run-in with Gargoyles' Demona) could show up if it does well.

retarDed, I believe.

Ok, so I don't like those shows either.... Toon Disney's the only one I bother with during the day... I usually find something good on Vault Disney if I'm up. But it's really an opinion, not a fact. I was annoyed having to hear some teenybopper girl go on and on about how wonderful 'Kate and Leopold' was and how awful LOTR was. An opinion is an opinion but when you state it like it's written-in-stone universal truth.... Said girl just made me less likely to see K&L.

Is The Mouse using the same staff of writers on every production? If so, they are obviously imbeciles/bone-dry on ideas. It may be time to consider unsolicited manuscripts/out-of-house writers. I may sent in a proposal myself--either Dante's Inferno or Othello. Sure, they'll be butchered and kiddified adaptations, but I'll still get royalties.

Though on Pocahantas, I can see why they aged her. Wouldn't do to have John Smith fooling around with a thirteen-year-old. People fussed over an alleged incident of priaprism in The Little Mermaid--imagine what they'd do with statutory rape....

Oh... and some DTV video cover info for you guys....

Hunchback 2's has Quasi with a small blonde girl (Phoebus and Esmeralda's?) on his back, and his New Love Interest in the background.

Cinderella 2's shows Cindy and Charming dancing.... and the redhead stepsister dancing with a chubby brunnette guy.

You should see the Cardcaptor Sakura Cinderella episode. It's on the 4th subbed DVD/video. It's so wonderfully odd and is easily my favorite version of the story.
