An OVA of My-Otome is getting released according to this month's issue of Megami magazine.

Why you gotta be so loli Megami? I mean, whatever happened to the ridiciously well-endowed anime girl stereotype?
PS: I guess My-乙HiME is just the new thing for Bandai/Sunrise. We've gone from gundams to maids in 20 years.

Cool! Otome has really gotten better (excluding how much I've become disturbed by Sergay). I'll be looking forward to this OVA after I watch the hour finale.

I've got a bad feeling about this, they realy got nowhere with Otome. And the whole thing threatened to become enveloped by the cuse of Seed Desteny seveal times (A fate which has befallen a good deal of anime sequels as of late.*COUGHROZENMAIDENCOUGH*) and to me, I can't but see this is them saying "Ohcrap, we've gone and messed up, LOL guys."

Why? The anime has sucked. Mai didn't even show up where I left off (around ep 15), plus it was boring.
Speaking of which, what the heck is up with the new dvd Bandai just released? It seems more like a 2 year old released it than Bandai. No insert, no 5.1 audio, a terrible dub, a piss poor t-shirt, a flimsy crappy artbox.

That's your fault for leaving early. :p
As for "boring," I didn't find it boring. It wasn't as dark at Mai-HiME in the begining and that wasn't a problem for me. I did find it to be a lot of fun. Now it is in the action phase, but it threw in a rather interesting element in episode 24.
1st, you have the issue of an adult having sex with a minor. Then you have the issue of a father having sex with his daughter (the above-mentioned minor). While Sergy had proved he could do such a thing with Arika, his sleeping with Nina-chan was something I couldn't believe but wasn't surprised by).
As for the OAV, it doesn't surprise me that there would be one.

You forgot the part where they're releasing it on 7 DVDs, a first for Bandai.
Yes, the US release sucks. But the show still has a great Japanese cast which you can watch, and it looks amazing in Hi-Def.

I'm convinced that the writers for this show have lost all sense of sanity.

Eh, I'm not quite liking this show. That and episode 24 was really disturbing though that might not be related to how good the OVA might be. If the ending ends up being underwhelming I may have to consider this.

I like the show in general, Sergei's tendencies giving me some distaste here. But considering all the other 'alternate couples' I'm not sure that's the worse pair up ever.
That said, I DO think they took to long to get to the main action and now it looks like everything's going to get rushed into the last two eps. Hopefully we dont have have a redo of GSD's end here.

Distate? Its written like terrible fan fiction.
Its been very bad for a long time and two episodes just aren't enough to make up for it. Don't even compare it to GSD, the direction was messed up but at least the non-meer, non-recap final episodes were worthwhile and cohesive. Not as good as the rest, but at least it made sense and moved the plot forward. And then there's....this. I mean, yeah, its such a good idea to turn one of the few cool characters into a pedophile and then kill him instead of showing us what's going on with the main character, explaining the background of this world we still know way too little about, or having any of the Hime cameos make any sort of sense at all. SUCH a good idea.
This thing's been screwed up for weeks ever since they killed off that maid, which was a powerful moment--oh yeah, by some miracle she really isn't dead after all. Whatever.

Sergy was willing to do whatever it took to protect his country and daughter. His actions in episode 24, while most distasteful and wrong, fit into that profile.
As to the writing of the episode, I wonder if fans in Japan didn't like the lighter-heart of the series, so the writers decided to throw a bomb in there to show they aren't all fun and fluff.
BUT I still enjoy the anime.

Distate? Its written like terrible fan fiction. GSD is terrible fan fiction.
Its been very bad for a long time and two episodes just aren't enough to make up for it. The previous five episodes are as taught, well-paced and entertaining as they come. It is a decent recovery on Sunrise's part.
Don't even compare it to GSD, the direction was messed up but at least the non-meer, non-recap final episodes were worthwhile and cohesive. GSD is the model of a squishy, rambling, open-ended, appeal to everyone so it appeals to no one anime ending. It's not pedophillia, so stop calling it that.
The age of consent is 16 in many industrialized countries, including Japan. My best estimate is that Nina and Sergey have been together for only eight years, and they aren’t blood related.
This is something about the pedoast complaints I don't get. We are presented an archaic society where a fifteen year old monarch is expected to select a husband and sire a heir, where 15 year old women are considered mature enough to kill thousands (millions?) of people and participate life and death political machinations, but we expect them to not conduct themselves like women?
The endearing, and sad thing about Sergey has been trying to do the right thing for so long, he's ended up doing the wrong thing. His only luck is survival. The poor fool.
This thing's been screwed up for weeks ever since they killed off that maid, which was a powerful moment--oh yeah, by some miracle she really isn't dead after all. Whatever. Aoi's recovery was a cheap move. I hope Sunrise doesn't punk the ending ... again.

This topic isn't about GSD and I'm sure not going to answer one-liner bashing. Much about the setting of this show was disconcerting from the get-go. Then somewhere along the way they decided to simply push the line in any way they think they can get away with in the tradition of C grade yuri-driven fanservice-heavy fanboy-pandering crap that there is already way too much of. And don't even try to defend it by hiding behind a thin line; both heroines are 15. Whether its that or what they have Shizuru from Hime doing, its the same damn thing. You can't defend this with bullcrap about "culture," its pandering to the loweset common demoninator of viewer that actually manages to get some form of tiltillation from this. To say its borderline is being VERY generous. Its obvious why its there and what they're trying to do. You know what you're right, Sergey isn't to blame, its the retarded writers that think its a brilliant idea.
And I still don't see how the pacing is any good. They're introducing new characters for the sake of cameos way too late, have 3-4 plotlines going at once, and don't seem interested in resolving anything aside from the overall plot of the evil harominum-that-will-destroy-everything-if-the-good-guys-don't-kill-it.

Turns out Satoshi Urushihara is a Mai-Hime and Mai-Otome fan as well. Look, he even did a custom illustration for the My-Zhime OVA.

Wow that Satoshi Urushihara art is great.
Anyway watched the final 2 eps of Mai Otome.
Meh yet another happy ending with nobody really dying. Even that crazy ass Tomoe survived falling after having the Valkyrie power destroyed. Lmao.
Maki Maki Maki > then Valkyrie/Otome powers apparently ;) Lol Shiho FTW!
Nagi even gets off pretty easy. Damn I wanted that little snot to be killed and I figured when Miyu broke all the Otome contracts that would be the way the series got around killing him, but letting Nina live. But all he did is become a friggin prisoner in the care of Mai and Mikoto.
Love the Shiho costume :D Pic (http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/4904/bscap1952kr.jpg)
OMG Miss Maria is teh SEXXAY! (http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/3796/bscap1979he.jpg)
So we got Mai Hime about schoolgirls and then Mai Otome about maids so I think Akane shows us what the third series will be

In that society, I don't think so. Besides, he was going to do it to take away her powers and keep her safe.

In that society, I don't think so. Besides, he was going to do it to take away her powers and keep her safe.....and with Arika? In the abandoned cabin on beach he only stopped himself because he reminded himself that she was Nina's age. On the top of that building after Arika was almost raped he was only at the last minute able to keep himself in line. An adult being attracted to a 14 year old is a pedo.

Time for a gratuitous nit pick. If she's pre-pubescent, yes, that's pedophilia. If she's post-pubescent, it's ephebophilia. Technicality? Yes. Valid point when talking about a character - probably, because that sort of defines just how messed up he is.

I've never seen fanboys get so bent out of shape over anime excesses before but...
Otome Episode 25/26 Spoilers:
...the histrionics over Sergey cradle robbing are (still) quite contrary to his character. Oh ye fanboys of little faith.
Even better is the ShizNat freaks being denied an on-screen smooch from their favorite closet lesbians. You see dudes, what the writers are saying is, "You perverts should buy a porno, because this ain't it".
I love it when writers crank yank fanboys. Just love it.
Anyway...
...with so many characters chewing up screen time and so many story threads wrapping up in two thirty minute episodes is a testament to the talent of the writing staff that it avoided an absolute, complete, total train wreck of an ending.
All that hate mail from GSD must have help with the motivation.
