Okay now this is just weird.. almost Twilight Zone like.. yet here it is.. complete with a picture..

Apparently some parent wasn't keeping an eye on their 3 year old boy, and the next thing you know.. He ends up inside one of those "Mechanical Claw" Arcade Machines..

First off, how in the world could a 3 year old child squeeze through a 7 inch wide slot and get into this situation..

Second.. why didn't the restaurant have a key ?

and third? Why on earth would the kid's mother do this to Humiliate her own child?

I don't find this funny.. but rather deplorable..

your thoughts?

I don't find this funny.. but rather deplorable..

Why? The kid wasn't hurt, and he got to play with a bunch of movie cameras. Sounds like a good day to me.

They still didnt explain how the child actually got into the machine.

I remember seeing that a few years ago. I guess it happened AGAIN or something.

Yes, someone must capture this child and interrogate him

We will soon learn the inner secrets of electronic carney games, and then aquire their prizes with little difficulty at all.

Huh? What are you talking about? It never says she did anything to humiliate him. He climbed in himself and was a total ham for the attention and photographs.

What was deplorable??

I like how he started throwing the toys out of the machine. TAKE THAT, ESTABLISHMENT!

How is it humiliating? He's a 3 year old kid. 3 year old kids do stupid stuff and going from everything, he seemed to be eating up all the attention (like the rescuer said, he was pretty much mugging for the cameras). It might be slightly embarassing when he gets older (though if I were him, I'd be more embarassed by having a name like Devinlee) but it also makes for a funny story.

Is the kid's body made of rubber or something? I'm amazed he got in through that shaft!

The story asked on whether those claw machines should be banned. I say good riddance since those things make it nearly impossible to get the toy you want.

I don't find this funny.. but rather deplorable..Nowhere in the article it's said that the mother did this on purpose. Sometimes you just can't avoid your kids getting into trouble.

And nobody ended up hurt, it's actually funny if you think about it.

Second.. why didn't the restaurant have a key ?The restaurant probably has no access to the toy bin portion of the contraption, and probably didn't even have a key to its quarter tank. National companies distribute the machines, so they are their property and not the restaurant's. A guy probably shows up every week or so to take the quarters and replace the toys, if any have been sucessfully taken.

For the ordeal, Devinlee received a Batman toy that his mother thinks he was after all along.Totally worth it.

I'm never having children, and am adding this to my list of reasons not to do so.

Either you are devoid of a black sense of humor or you're a parent, TC. Besides, it happened before and they made fun of it on this website called Humor Me Online.

Check it out (if your ability to laugh isn't nonexistent just yet):

Although I too would like to know how a child gets into games like that.

Here's why you should feed your kids healthy foods. They'll grow bigger, big enough to not trap themselves in those things.

i thought it might be hard to get into the machine.

Another unusual thing about this:Wilson would not say that the machines should be banned because of the risk that children could climb inside. That was it. They didn't say anything else about banning before or after it.

It just feels.....off. It feels like someone went up to another person and COMMANDED them to say (for example) "SAY that guns are bad!/SAY you support the 2nd ammendment!"

Its feels like they either tried to coerce him to say it, OOOORRRR they never asked him about it at all, and that was just thrown in the article there.

I don't have too much trouble with one channel/newspaper/etc leaning left or right, and runs articles that would either support/not support crane games (I can't believe I wrote that!), but this seems to pushing it.

Or I'm blowing it out of proportion.

Or I'm missing the point :p

In any case, it is funny the kid go up there without getting hurt. The mom just needs to make sure he gets the idea NOT to do it again, then all's well that ends well :D

This reminds me of the "22 Short Films About Springfield" episode of the Simpsons, except replace 3-year-old with Maggie and arcade toy machine with newspaper recepticle.

I wonder how that kids was able to get in that toy machine though i think it was pretty funny for a toddler to end p in a machine filled with toys and he's getting all of the attention. And he was even throwing out toys for the other kids. :p

We will soon learn the inner secrets of electronic carney games, and then aquire their prizes with little difficulty at all. The problem is this. These are exactly what you called it: an electric carney game.

These games are designed to eat quarters with no result to the player. The claws' spring mechanism are designed to ppi or strength to capture and hold on to the spoils within. So quarters are poured in, and the owner of the machine collects his money. The toys within the machine are then either rotated to another of his claw machines (so regular customers will see new merchandise within and assume that it's possible to win a prize), or sold at flea markets or to other venders.

Yes, these will occasionally give a prize. It's supposed to do so. Just very infrequently.

Yes there are establishments where prizes are won often. These are designed to do so, and you'll find these machines in higher traffic venues.

Actually I have known people able to look at a claw machine, determine which prize they can get, and get on the first try almost every time.

They should have used the claw to pull the kid out.
