According to Adult Swim Fix (http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/index.jsp) Eureka 7 will join the Friday online streaming premieres beginning April 14th. No word yet on the television premiere, but I'm sure we can logically conclude when that will be. Here's a screencap in case this news was a slip up and is removed later:

EDIT: First Response! YES! I'm sure I've managed that a few other times, but I can't remember :p

Huh, I'm surprised AS for would go another mecha show. Alot of people assumed AS and CN were tired of mecha shows, and that NGE was only picked due to being NGE, which they tried to get for years, and Toonami's IGPX, which was ordered WAAAAAAY back when Gundam was still popular.

(NOT that I'm complaining, I'm glad they're going to give a non-NGE mecha show on AS a chance after Blue Gender.)

So is Eureka 7 any good? There was alot of hype around it before it even premeired (like most shows) but I heard it started to drag after 5 episodes or so.

Well, looks like it's been removed now, but the premiere image is still on their server.

Eureka 7 is one of my favorite shows airing in Japan right now.

Giant robots were MADE for surfing.
Excellent action scenes, characters, story, and music. Excellent, excellent music.

In Japan, this is a Sunday morning cartoon...but yeah, it is a bit dark so it'd work on AS.

Also, Ray and Charles own.

The show's timeslot is so perplexing in Japan. It's clearly not a Sunday morning cartoon and has almost nothing that will appeal to kids, but it's on too early for everyone else. I really have to wonder who thought that would be a great marketing decision.

From what I have heard, this show has content approaching FMA levels of gore and disturbing imagery. So the fact that it will air on AS is quite a relief for me as there will be few edits (if any). Still, the fact that a high profile anime series like Eureka 7 was picked up by AS in such a quiet manner and then dumped onto the schedule with so little fanfare worries me.

It may just be that the ratings expectations for new anime on AS is so low at this point WS feels like they have to "test the waters" before they make any big commitments. Of course, the exact opposite might be true and WS believes so much in this show they think it can gain a huge audience if they just spread the good word about it by using a web broadcast. I really hope the latter is true because from what I have heard about this show, it really might be able to bring up the ratings for AS anime, just like in the early run of FMA.

I've been meaning to watch this and this will give me an excellent opportunity to do just that. I've really heard a lot of good things about this show and look forward to checking it out.

While part of me had been hoping this would go to Toonami, Adult Swim Action needs new content at this point a lot more than Toonami does. Thus, considering that this show is a reasonable fit for Adult Swim, I'm happy, and I look forward to checking this out!

Eh, I think Eureka on Toonami would've been a big mistake.

Oh, also William, don't you think that your sig is a bit redundant now that a good portion of Toonami shows are TV-PG?

They also haven't had their annual upfront yet so that probably accounts for the lack of publicity. I would imagine given the short time frame between now and the premeire that we will begin to see them go into promotions mode. But I highly doubt they intend to keep this property bottled up on the web, I don't know what the cost to grab it from Bandai was, but I'm sure it was more than enough to justify a slot on the televised block. Besides, from what I have read Eureka 7 generated some nice acclaim overseas and while that may not translate into it becoming a ratings juggernaut stateside it is at least worth noting.

As for the way this came out to the public (temporarily anyway) I honestly think, as tends to be the case with AS and their web presense, that someone jumped the gun and let it slip or maybe let it "slip" ahead of the official announcement.

Perhaps, before I'd change it I'd have to think of something to change it to though.

I assume that Turner/Adult Swim doesn't have the worldwide rights to stream these shows. That would probably be a lot more expensive.

It means it was an accident and they announced it too early.

More mecha is always a good thing, especially when it has an unconventional approach like E7.

Yes, cuz we all know that All anime would spontaniously combust if someone from Scottland watched it legaly.

But it's only legal for US people, as that is what they probably agreed on. So, you watching it, would probably be against the agreement, meaning bad for [as].

I'm not sure how Rapture worked out but Eureka 7 is a Bones series and so are FMA and Wolf's Rain. So I'd say it has a shot.

I'm glad to see this coming to AS. E-7 looks like it could be the biggest thing to hit AS since FLCL, the early FMA, and the early Inuyasha blocks. I hope it produces high ratings. But I hope AS has a couple more good anime in the pipeline. Guess we'll all find out at the upfront. (^_*)

Totally true. I love Ray and Charles Beams so much. Awesome characters with some actual depth and meaning behind their actions.

The Music to the show is just so great, the soundtrack is phenomenal.

This show is going to blow-up HUGE if it airs on Adult Swim.

A 'try it before you buy it' scenario, huh? (Always the case with anime that makes it on TV, though... at least for me.) Well, I've also heard the good things about the show, so... bring it on, AS, let's see what 'Eureka 7' has got!

It'll probably end up like FMA. 25 episodes aired once a week every week, then a looooooong break (which I'll either hate or love, depending on how good this series is), and then the next 25.

To those of you asking for Eureka 7 Information, here's a synopsis I found of it on the Anime News Network.

Renton Thurston is a 14-year-old boy who lived with his mechanic grandfather in a backwater town. Every day he dreamed of being with the mercenary "Light Finding Operation (LFO)" aircraft pilot group "Gekkostate" and riding "Trapar" particle waves-- a sport called "reffing"-- with their charismatic leader Holland, especially when faced with his father's acclaimed past or his grandfather's desire to protect him. When a young girl named Eureka riding the original LFO, the "Nirvash typeZERO", asks his grandfather for a tune-up, she inadvertently brings the attention of the military to the garage; as a result, the garage is destroyed and Renton is forced to deliver a new type of interface-- the "Amita Drive"-- to the Nirvash. After a heated fight in which the Nirvash destroys the military LFOs by unleashing an immense amount of power, Renton is invited into Gekkostate. However, he quickly realizes that behind the facade of a traveling group of mercenaries is a very bitter reality.

Sounds pretty interesting. I'll be sure to try and catch it when it airs on Friday Night Fix April 14th. Hmmm, do you think that there's a possibility that it's just airing on FNF first and then premiering on AS TV a few days afterward (like the Boondocks or Moral Orel)? I mean, I know some of you have the grids for April but it's not like CN/AS never update sthe schedule grids on a last minute notice sometimes.

So does 50 episodes mean 2 or 3 'seasons' for this one?

Maybe not. This is a Bandai property, and all the other long Bandai shows (mostly Gundam stuff) have never taken a break with the exception of Christmas/New Years marathon pre-emptions.

However, AS hasn't ever aired a 40+ episode Bandai show to completion, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Somehow I don't think the majority of the AS viewership is going to find surfing robots to be all that hip. But hopefully they'll stick around at least long enough to see that the show is much more than what can be seen on the surface.
