oh this has to be one of my favorite episodes in second gig...well because who knew the major had a sort of maternal instinct to her? I dunno but I thought it was nice to see the major being "partnered" with a little kid that knew kouze. I have to say my favorite moment was the exchange in the hotel room. If memory serves the dialogue was a bit different but still held true to the simple fact that
the major just wants to have fun with man, woman, or children in this case.

Thinking about it...The Major emoting during this episode actually shows something interesting about her character: The reason we hardly ever see her emote is because we've almost continuously seeing her on the job. When she's on the clock, she's all work. Nifty.

This was an unusually entertaining episode for a show that makes it way largely on complicated plotting and concepts. Not that I haven't been rather drawn in by that, but sometimes it's nice to turn the valve and let away some of the intellectual pressure in favor of a fun story.

This episode, admirably I think, managed to advance the larger story by exploring Kuze's status among the refugees while making something a little more interesting out of Major Kusanagi as well. Stoïcs are only interesting once we see how their stoïcism can be dented.

The scene in the penthouse... well gee wiz. That's all I'm going to say.

That poor bouncer. Ouch, ouch, ouch!

The finale sequence was satisfying to watch. "Who are you?" *major pulls out another gun*

The unspoken dialogue: "Good, bad, I'm the lady with two guns."

All told "Red Data" was a soothing change of pace that I wouldn't object to seeïng more often.

Something that hasn't been touched upon (and probably for good reason)... I humor the staff's efforts to create a counterbalance to the Major's nakedness by having her later go into a men's locker room. Honestly, if they tried to show just one guy's bits, THAT would be the image in our heads, not of the Major wearing nothing but a very thin panty. :sweat:

There was probably never any chance that the kid would take her up on the offer, in the Major's pov. By then she'd gotten to size up the kid pretty well, and knew how to push his buttons. When he asked about sex she decided to call his bluff, knowing that he'd be silently freaked out while trying to put up a cool front, which was exactly what happened.

As to who would have not taken her up on her offer - if a serious offer it was - no one who would have been in that bed. Anyone who would get into bed with someone in next to nothing would be pretty susceptible to her considerable charms.

Now me, I would have crashed on the couch, inwardly cuckolding my sense of propriety while wishing sleep would hurry up & overtake me.
