I think that makes it 5,000 times now. But, is this another filler episode?

She most likely hurt her leg going over the falls.

As tough as Kagome apparantly is, she gets caught like a mofo. And she's supposed to have priestess powers?

Duke

She only manifests her priestess power when shooting arrows.

I only kept thinking one thing during IY's fight: You're facing a powerful demon with an even more powerful demon sword. You have a technique which allows you to reflect that demon's energy back at it, with a Wind Scar for added damage. USE THAT MOVE TO OVERLOAD THE DAMN SWORD!!!

The episode seemed to go by fast but it was mostly filler and I dont like that akitaki guy but I'm glad they have a love triangle in the past now as that's maybe my favorite part of the show. Yeah the whole kagome gets kidnapped and inuyasha has to save her thing is getting old.

Of course it's another filler episode. Kagome actually doesn't get kidnapped much in canon. She did early on in the series, but the last canon kidnapping was by EvilBaby, and she hasn't gotten kidnapped in canon since.

Same here, when's the last time he used that backlash wave? I know it builds suspense and crap like that but come on.

I liked this episode and this old world Hojo is o.k. This Kagome isn't good she's not all girl in distress and helpless. The kidnapping I honestly didn't see it coming. Was anybody else reminded of Naruto with the whole ninja's thing?
As much as I enjoy a good filler I want the show to get back to the main plot. And when is Kouga coming back around?!

I admit the red eyed demon who seems to be flamboyantly gay does make me laugh.

And when is Kouga coming back around?!I believe someone, think it was patches correct me if I'm wrong, said that he wouldn't be coming back for the rest of the series. He would from now on only appear in the manga. Since this was said a while back I could be wrong. I would rather be wrong because the little feuds between him Inuyasha and Kagome are funny. Patches if that was you who said that then could you please confirm that for us? Appreciate it.

I think Kouga never comes back in the anime if I recall. But he still does appear in the manga version. But, we'll let Patches confirm that for us. ^_^

Despite Kagome being kidnapped, this was a decent filler episode. I did have a problem of Inuyasha not using his Wind Scar. Still, the demons were a little interesting. Demon ninjas are cool.

I give this a 3.6/5

I thought it was an OK episode....I liked seeing Kagome destroy the puppets with her arrows(I like it when she's shown fighting back against her enemies....it seems like in many filler episodes that she's helpless without Inuyasha,when she's really not in the manga)...and Akitoki's daydream about being married/having kids with Kagome...
The enemies names.....Suzaku,Seiryu,Byakko,and Genbu...also used as the names of the Saint Beasts in Yu Yu Hakusho,and the Four Gods in Fushigi Yuugi....

They're based off the Japanese legend about the four beasts with the same names.

Well, I dunno if I was the one who said it, but that is indeed correct. We will never see Kouga again, aside from a brief snippit in the end credits montage in the final episode. Going by the manga, he SHOULD have appeared in episode 165, but his entire appearance was cut to save time, since they were trying to cram as much manga into three episodes as possible to get to the part they wanted to end at.

I guess the manga is making up for that at this point, since Kouga's been in the past 19 chapters straight (the equivalent of about 6 anime episodes) And may continue to be a presence since he's more or less joined Inuyasha's party

I don't understand this. How is filler any less canon than non-filler? I mean, just because they aren't relevant to the main plot doesn't put them out of continuity.

In the grand scheme of things.. filler has no real effect on the overall plot, any development of the characters is usually discarded completely when they go back to the non-filler, so that the characters would be in the same place as they were at the end of the last non-filler encounters..

"Filler" is technically defined as something that was not in the original work the show was based off of. Basically, the anime writers make up their own one-shot stories to "fill" space between episodes to extend the series longer. This is often done if a series has a set number of episodes it needs to fill, but not enough original story to fill it. Or, in Inuyasha's case, to buy time while the original work continued so that they wouldn't completely run out of story.

"Inuyasha" was based on a comic. Episode 132 ("Miroku's Most Dangerous Confession") finished off with chapter 292 of the comic. Chapter 293 won't get covered until episode 141. Everything in between (we're currently at episode 138) is considered "filler".

They're based off the Japanese legend about the four beasts with the same names.

I think they're the spirits of Feng Shui. Their animals were all seen in different structures in the Cowboy Bebop episode Boogie Woogie Feng Shui:
Genbu = snake and tortoise
Byakko = white tiger
Seiryuu = blue dragon
Suzaku = red phoenix
Even the Saint Beasts in YYH resemble those animals.

Oh. I always thought it was stuff that was just used to bridge gaps between larger storylines in both the manga and the anime.

I guess this is a big problem with doing an anime that runs this long with a manga that still hasn't ended.

The manga does have parts that some people consider "filler", mostly involving Kagome's one-chapter jaunts back to the present era. But that's just what they are. One-chapter jaunts. Not overly-extended gaps of nothingness between plot arcs like in the anime.

Well, I've only read one story of the manga and I'm pretty sure it classifies as filler. It was the one where Inuasha finally meets Kagome's friends in the present.

Where did Kagome's little ribbon thing go? The thing she wears on her chest? At first I thought it was an animation error, but it was gone throughout this whole episode.

It fell off when she fell into the river. InuYasha and the gang found it afterwards.
