I was at the local EB paying on my KH2 account. I asked when Tomb Raider Legend (I read a pretty positive review in PSM) was coming out, they told me the dates, and then told me I'd better reserve it because they're won't be any available copies within a few days. Can that be true? I thought only games like Halo 2 sold out before release. I'm not even sure if KH2 is sold out, I just figured I better reserve it because I might not make it to the store on release day. Are the employees exaggerating?

Yes

TRL should be in large supply, hell if all else fails go to a Bestbuy, they usualy get the lion's share of things

Do you know how many gamers have fallen off the map and forgot about this? There will be copies. All 17 of them.

They were just trying to get you to pre-order it. There is some truth to it as certain stores only receive copies based off pre-order numbers. For instance, if 3 people pre-order at that store, they will only receive 3 copies. That isn't to say that the bigger stores, Best Buy / Target / Wal-Mart won't have copies. So there is some truth to it.

High scores or not, I've never heard anyone talk about this once. Not even at college. People are too glued into the RPG's and Action titles these past 2 months.

You should be able to pick it up at EB pre-order or not. Alot of the people that work at places like EB and Gamestop really push pre-orders and some people will lie straight to the customers face like the person who told you about Tomb Raider. I work at Gamestop and just can't do that kinda stuff, now if it's a game like Obilivion or Kingdom Hearts 2 I will say "Hey you may want to pre-order this, we won't have many copies that aren't on pre-order" this is true because with Obilivion we had a grand total of 5 copies that were not on reserve and they didn't last very long.

Also always reserve obscure games anything along the lines of Rez you will want to reserve because game stores typically only get two or three copies in.

Eh, it is classified as an action Title

and it did make the covers of a few magazines

if you want a game that has nearly no coverage, there's Altelier Iris 2 which is set to be released within a month or so...

Sorry for not making myself clear. By talking about it I ment in the community. On the street. In the stores. People starting discussions with "Hey there is that new Tomb Raider game! It looks better than before!"

I wouldn't be shocked if the game got a few pages in regular gaming magazines since it was a popular franchise. Yet most gamers feel cheated by the last couple of releases and have faded away from this. As a noteworthy discovery I made on my own about a month ago, the offical website for TR is really cool.

Hey, with the 'Legacy of Kain' people working on this, I KNOW it'll be an awesome game. I even preordered it myself.

After the last few games after 3, this HAS to be good. (And I'm speaking as a long time TR fan too)

The big selling point my local EB is pushing is that the original creator who left after the first game is returning for this game.

Yeah, I think people are just tired of Tomb Raider in general. After being burned by Chronicles and Angel of Darkness (Angel especially), I think many people would be reluctant to buy this new game.

Then again, if what I read in magazines is true about this game getting back to the series' roots and having a far better game engine than previous games, it may be worth a look. Atleast Lara dropped the goth look.

Most of the "hardcore" have abandoned Lara long ago; they got tired of the series shooting itself in the head over and over (and they also got serious girlfriends).

That doesn't mean that it won't sell. Angel of Darkness did, despite how bad it was. It's all about the brand. If you have a powerful and established brand, it takes a lot to sink you.

I confess Angel of Darkness didn't do it for me, partly due to her dark whore look. Now she looks a little cleaner, for lack of a better term, but still stylized and not photorealistic which would've creeped me out even more. Not to mention she changes outfits like a normal person, which would be one of the few video games that actually addresses costumes being changed for a reason.

It's a Tomb Raider game. While it was notable at it's initial time, other companies and franchises have done what it did better. Same deal with Turok.

You'll have no trouble finding the game.
