I bought a computer for my 4 year old daughter to use and cartoonnetwork.com is her favorite site. Problem is, none of the games will load on her computer. I used to have windows 98 and it worked fine. My current computer with XP works just fine. But her computer with windows ME won't load the games. I updated her computer and can't figure this out. I updated the flash player. I updated direct X. I even downloaded the div X player and codecs. There is no antivirus or firewall blocking the site either. I can't figure out why I can't get the games to load on her computer. Does anyone have any advise? Or am I doomed to upgrade her computer to windows 2000 or XP just so she can play her favorite games on cartoonnetwork.com? By the way, the games on the other sites, Nick.com and Disney.com and others all work fine on her computer. It's just cartoonnetwork.com that I have this trouble with. Any help is greatly appreciated.

All I've got to say is that I totally despised 'ME'. It's more problematic than 98. I do recommend XP (I recommend you to format the hard drive as an NTFS), because you're less likely to crash than you do with 9x (and even more so with 'ME').

Forgive my ignorance but what is NTFS? Thanks for your advise. Is there a reason the games won't load? Would the OS be the reason?

It's a type of file system, used in Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems. The 9x versions use FAT32.
It is quite possible that maybe the website does not support 'ME' (I'm doubting it, though), but it could also be because one of your plug-in installations is corrupted. One thing you can do is make sure that you have updated ME with the latest files (you must use Internet Explorer, and go to "Tools>Windows Update").

Yeah, I forgot to list that but, I have gone to windows update and completely updated the windows. Everything is up to date. Makes it even more puzzling, huh?

Have you tried getting the latest version of Flash Player and Shockwave to see if that fixes it at all?

Yes, I updated both of them, so they are good to go. See why I can't figure out what's up with it? LOL.

Most likely its something simple. For example I can't access the games from CN.com at work. What browser do you use? Are you sure there is no firewall, there might be one on our router? Most people don't realize that's a firewall.

Ah, I never thought about updating the browser. I'll try it.

I used to have Windows ME on my old Gateway until last October. When I played some of the games on CartoonNetwork.com when I had Windows ME and they worked, but that was couple of years ago.
If its not the operating system, it could well be a firewall problem like havokpryde said or it could just be an over sensetitive virus protection in the router. I had that virus question come up a few times when I had a Packard Bell when trying to play a couple of Cartoon Network online games.

I guess the IE was updated when I did my windows updates. Still won't work. Wow, this is frustrating. And to answer the firewall question, I totally removed the antivirus and stuff to see if it would work. Still didn't. There are no firewalls and I'm currently not running the computer on a router. Still can't figure this out for my daughter.:(

It probably won't matter, but have you considered trying the Mozilla Firefox browser?

Also having the same problem here and at my Grandson's house. I have ME he has XP. (Cartoon Network used to work fine here, until I reloaded my hard drive.) Flash and Shockwave players updated and installed correctly/working fine with other sites. We are fairly certain we have ruled out issues with antivirus and firewalls etc...
Emails to cartoon network have gone unanswered. While searching numerous forums for a solution (With no luck) I did stumble upon another web site of cartoon network where all the games do load. (These same games will not "load" from the cartoon network site.) Unfortunately not all of cartoon network games are available at this web site, but at least he got his ScoobyDoo fix!
The site is cartoonnetwork.com.au/asp/toonHQ/registration.asp
I did not log in or register at this site. Just clicked the games tab, then a page with "Ice Age" loads, scroll to the bottom to 'more games', click on the alphabetical grouping that you want.
I am still searching for the solution (somewhere in Internet Tools/Options/Advanced???? don't know) If you find THE FIX, please post it

As far as the question above, I thought trying the firefox browser was a great idea but, when I went to the download site it said the firefox browser waas for windows xp.:( Does anybody know of a differant version that works with older windows apps?

The system requirements have most of the Windows 9x Operating Systems listed. You need to look harder for it.

Maybe, it's not your comoputer but the games you are trying to download! Maybe there is something wrong with the games, which makes them impossible to download!
