The Frieza Saga on Cartoon Network
http://www.geocities.com/gohan2000_nz/Frieza_Saga_Gm.jpg
Monday - Last Wish
Guru and the people of Namek have been brought back to life, and the dragon Porunga has reappeared to grant the last of three wishes. While a newly enraged Goku resumes his onslaught against the evil Frieza, Dende races to make the final wish of King Kai's plan. But Frieza has his own wish in mind, and he too speeds toward the dragon! Can anything stand in the way of Frieza finally being granted immortality?
Tuesday - Duel on a Vanishing Planet
With all of his friends evacuated to the safety of Earth, Goku has chosen to remain on the doomed planet of Namek to finish Frieza once and for all. But Frieza refuses to go down quietly, and it looks as though the mighty Saiyan still has the fight of his life on his hands. And with Namek about to explode, there seems no way for Goku to defeat Frieza and escape from the planet in time! Has Goku made the greatest - and final - mistake of his life?
Wednesday - Pathos of Frieza
Time is growing short for Goku, as each passing second brings Namek closer to it's ultimate destruction. But the Super Saiyan's powers seem to know no limits, and it looks as though the once unstoppable Frieza has final been outmatched! As Goku's strength continues to increase with every blow, it appears that the battle has at last reached its conclusion...or has it?
Thursday - Frieza Defeated
Time is growing short for Goku, as each passing second brings Namek closer to it's ultimate destruction. But the Super Saiyan's powers seem to know no limits, and it looks as though the once unstoppable Frieza has final been outmatched! As Goku's strength continues to increase with every blow, it appears that the battle has at last reached its conclusion...or has it?

yep this fight is only 19 episodes. It did seem to drag on and on like there was more episodes then there actually are. Just remember that Thursdays episode does not finish up the fight between Goku and Frieza, that's where Monday comes in.

Another action-packed episode and this one was more faster-paced. I enjoyed the exchange between Frieza and Goku in this.
Goku: No way, why run away from something you're not scared of. (One of my favorite Goku lines)
Frieza: Just for that one. I'm going to blow you to pieces. Just like that little bald guy! Hehehe.
Goku: That little bald guy was my best friend. His name was Krillin. Yeah, how could I forget? NOW DIE!!
Frieza: YOU DIRTY DOG!
Goku: It takes one to know one!
King Kai's joke to Goku always brings a smile to my face. It's still so funny. :anime:
"How many Super Saiyans does it take to screw a lightbulb?" - King Kai
"How many?" - Goku
:p
Hehehe. They really one-upped Frieza. The fool got what's coming to him. Everyone's been wished to earth except the Super Saiyan and the tyrant.
It all comes down to Goku and Frieza on the dying planet of Namek. This is where their climatic fight gets more intense.
I gave "Final Wish" a 4.8/5. This is one of the better episodes and the turning point to the final act in the Frieza/Namek Arc.

Maybe it's because of how marble mouthed King Kai is, but when he gets mad at Goku calling him "you stubborn, thick-headed...", thick-headed always sounds like....you know. :p

Actually it's 20. "The End Of Vegeta" also counts since they started the fight in that episode.

Jeez between Freeza's "can't be" and Kai's "thick headed" being muddy, sounds like FUNI gives these characters accents to get away with lines like that.
I missed the episode the first time but seeing it the second time I realized this was a pretty good episode. Espically everyone rushing towards the dragon.

well i actually had some time and was able to watch last nights episode. I always thought that one was pretty good with Goku taunting Frieza about the wish (Goku had better be glad Porunga couldnt understand Frieza) and also when Vegeta was about to blast Frieza only to be transported away right before he was able to fire.

I rather laughed at that scene with Vegeta.
"Could a ghost do this?"
gather energy...start to fire...disappear!

Even though he wasn't a super saiyan, after being killed and brought back to life Vegeta had to be pretty freaking strong.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but DBZ moves back a slot to 10 P.M. next Monday.

Haha. Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny. Vegeta never did get Frieza again after that.
Even though he wasn't a super saiyan, after being killed and brought back to life Vegeta had to be pretty freaking strong.
No doubt about it. I think if he had been put near death again he would have been dangerously close to becoming a Super Saiyan.

Yeah, we all knew that. It kicks One Piece off that slot and DBZ becomes pre-AS until June (when the expansion takes place).

Oh, so we'll definitely get to the Trunks/Androids sagas (assuming CN continues to pace its way through the show's timeline). I'm likin' this.

Ooo, nice to see flashbacks straight out of Dragonball. I always enjoyed the Piccolo vs Goku fight from the 23rd Budokai. :)
I enjoy seeing Piccolo's character development early in DBZ. It really shows. He truly has become a "Big, Green Uncle" to Gohan. ^_^
Man, Vegeta really going on telling them who's running the show while Frieza and Goku beat the crud out of each other.
"It's not your lucky day after all. Too bad!" Piccolo telling Vegeta's whose boss.
I also have to comment that despite how much faster and stronger the characters have gotten, Frieza and Goku really demonstrate to us that they are FAST. I mean you can only see flashes and blurs.
Frieza's sphere just wasted that planet. Could have been worse. It could have been Namek but Goku made sure that didn't happen.

It's been nice watching DBZ again after all these years, laughing at all the stupid parts of this saga (like the final five minutes of Planet Namek) and watching the parts that make this series great.
Also, do we know for sure that it is moving to 10PM when Adult Swim expands?

Yes, as a matter of fact, starting this Monday DBZ will move up 10PM and knock One Piece off the primetime schedule as a lead-in to AS. By June, AS will take the 10PM spot and DBZ could be pushed to 9:30PM by then to continue as Pre-AS (though we don't know for sure).
Anyway, this was a decent episode but not as fast-paced as yesterday's. Goku and Frieza are still fighting on the dying planet. I enjoyed Piccolo's flashback to his rivalry with Goku (good times). Nice to see big green put Vegeta in his place when he told him about the dragonball wishes. No more hopes of being granted immortality for Veggie.
Looking forward to seeing the final parts of the Goku-Frieza battle.
"Duel on a Vanishing Planet" gets a 4.3/5 from me.

You know what's sad? The Death of King Piccolo and Piccolo's fight with Goku in the flashback was more editted in Funi's dub of Dragonball then in this flashback episode, and the King Piccolo/PIccolo saga dub came a lot later (I don't know why. Funi seemed to be extra cautious dubbing that and the Kid Buu Saga for some reason).
I also have to comment that despite how much faster and stronger the characters have gotten, Frieza and Goku really demonstrate to us that they are FAST. I mean you can only see flashes and blurs.
I believe I commented on that as well last week. How in later sagas everyone can move faster but it dosen't LOOK like theyr'e moving as fast as Freeza and Goku do here. Guess becuase this was the really big battle and all so they pulled out all the stops as it were.
Also, do we know for sure that it is moving to 10PM when Adult Swim expands?
Yup. Officaly says so on the offical CN schedule and various other sources confirm it too. So watch at 10 starting Monday and you'll see the eps.
IMHO, this is one of the weaker episodes of the whole Freeza and Goku fight. Because basically nothing new happens in the entire fight. Some episodes had that, but it seems really noticable here since the fighting isn't as intense as the other episodes. (now tommorow that's REALLY fast and intense. Some of my favorite fighting from this battle). Oh well. At least everyone else is out of Namek at this point so we just have to wait for the victor of this final namek showdown. Like we didn't already know.

Here, we go. Frieza and Goku going all out. It's just INTENSE at this point and their movements are faster than anything in the series.
"I HATE YOU!!" That's just strong. Frieza is doing everything he can to match the Super Saiyan and he's failing. Badly.
Now, he's got the dreaded bearhug! Damn, all of those elbowshots into Frieza's gut. I forgot just how painful it was to see that that.
"See? Just a beast!"
"Frieza?"
"WHAT?!"
"I'd rather be a brainless beast than a heartless monster like you."
Pitiful Frieza is trembling. He can't match Goku anymore and he's too proud to accept his loss. We can already see his paranoia getting the best of him.
"It would be meaningless to keep fighting you. You're too scared and ashamed. Live with the loss. Keep it bottled up inside of you silently." - Sorry, Goku, but this guy is just not going to bother listening. He's lost his sanity since you turned Super Saiyan.
Frieza pulling out his own Kiezans (Destructo Discs) as his final act of desperation.
"Round and round the monkey goes." XD

Anyway, yesterday's episode was a lot faster paced than Tuesday's. Frieza is already at the breaking point and shows us just how desperate he is. He knows he can't defeat Goku but he just continues on.
Most of my comments can be found in the above post and I don't wish to repeat myself.
Of course, we all know where this is going to lead... :)
"Paths of Frieza" gets a 4.8/5

I never really thought about it before, but all of Frieza's negative comments about Saiyans seem to be subtle jabs at racism almost.
You thought Raditz and Nappa's voices were crappy in the redub, just imagine what they could've been!

Ouch! Frieza just suffered the ultimate indignity: Done in by his own attack. :p

Oh yeah. Goku slaps the mess out Frieza. Talk about embarrassing.
And then, the infamous sliced Frieza. Eck, though editted, that's a really hard way to go.

"I'M GONNA SLAP SOME SENSE INTO YOU!!"
Goku slaps around Frieza like a punk with one hand. Now that's what I call humiliation. :p
Frieza's officially become a jobber (well at least when pitted against Super Saiyans and other guys on their level).
This episode finally ends the fighting and Frieza gets cut down by his own attack. I have to say that's more embarrassing than getting pimpslapped by Goku with one hand. Though to be fair, Frieza didn't expect that Kiezan to come from behind.
Goku just gave Frieza a portion of his own energy. Of course knowing the tyrant, he's not going to use it to help him escape. We all know where this is leading. The planet's about to go boom.
This episode pretty much ends the fighting but Frieza is not done yet. Until Monday night... :anime:
"Frieza Defeated!!" (not yet at least...) gets a 4.8/5

Hmm, never really thought about that or even bothered to paid enough attention to realize it. I have to watch that scene again.

or maybe a bit further then that depending on how you look it
but i guess when he arrives on earth,he's pretty much already dead
so depending on what Cartoon Network decides with DBZ weeknights, next week may be the last of it. And ending with the first of the Garlic Jr saga too .... man that close to showing Trunks and Cell once more

My favorite parts of these episodes are the parts on earth with Vegeta, he's more evil at times than Frieza.
