View Full Version : CN should take a chance on the shoujo Full Moon

Full Moon wo Sagashite is an amazing anime that CN should air despite never airing anything like it in the past. It's the first title in Viz's Shoujo Beat video line but it deserves a shot on US television. Not to be too name sake here... but I think it could do as well as Sailor Moon did (maybe even better).

It could even be easily edited to Y7 if they have to (but ya know PG is fine now so whatever). I'm sure Viz will dub the songs as well. It has potential to do well with tween girls here and other audiences as well. The story is very endearing, the characters are quite likable and the drama is suprisingly "real".

The real problem is, it's mostly a drama. CN doesn't seem to know what to do with drama's. Maybe they could try Sunday nights somewhere in prime time. I really think this one could prove shoujo can do well here (when it's handled properly, and I'm sure Viz will treat it well).

What exactly makes it superior to any other Shojo? Be specific. (without spoiling anything)

have to agree, I would love full moon to actually air on CN (actually quite a few anime on that list-to include tsubasa chronicles and of course tsukuyomi moon phase). I think the argument is reaching to say it can do as good as sailor moon, but I do think that a series "catered for girls" outside of totally spies is a necessity and in that full moon would be a good addition to CN's miguzi specifically.

It would be awesome, but if CN ever does try shoujo again (and it doesn't sound like they will), it will likely be more gender universal, which means more action and less drama.

But, it would be sweet to see something like this Sunday nights:

8:00 - Totally Spies!
8:30 - Kodocha
9:00 - Fruits Basket
9:30 - Full Moon wo Sagashite

...and if they ended up bringing in enough of a teen audience, they could slip in stuff like Paradise Kiss eventually.

A lack of action would keep it off Miguzi. Even KND has more action. Full Moon has next to none (much like Fruits Basket). It's a drama first and a comedy second. And that's the problem it faces.

Superior to other Shoujo? I haven't seen enough to say that much. But compared to Kodocha, Sailor Moon, CCS, and Fruits Basket... I find the emotion more real and the story more touching even heart breaking. Because there's a lot more riding on the line in this story including the propsed eventual death of a 12 year old girl. Don't get me wrong, those other shoujo I've seen had great drama, comedy and plenty of heart to them. But somehow I like Full Moon better. Probably because I like music so much.

Most shows on CN have are either mainly action or comedy. In order for them to take a risk like this, I suppose, CN would have to have something that's a drama second. This sounds more like something that Nick will try. They already have the market on girl shows lockdown, they might try to expand and take over Cartoon Network's forte, with their already massive teen and tween girl viewership. The reverse happening? I don't think its that likely.

well I think despite the fact that full moon has absolutely no action, there is a lot of heart, and I don't think a series has to be super action oriented in order for it to be enjoyed so much on CN but this is again back to CN marketting. Even if I were to play devil's advocate and CN does get the series for miguzi, guarenteed it is going to marketted horribly at best. Then again to my knowledge it hasn't been dubbed either so eh
